20. gas renewable unable to find..
From article ..so said
Renewable Push
The Indian government has strongly committed to its targets of reducing emissions by 33 per cent by 2030, as set out during the COP21 summit in Paris, and towards this it has initiated a strong push towards a gas-based economy and has also invested heavily in renewable energy. The business opportunities this presents has not been lost on the international business community, according to Mr Carroll. However, he also warned against investing too heavily in renewable energy at a time when the technology is not yet ready.
“You have to bring renewables at the right time so you aren’t trying to bring them to market before they are actually ready,” Mr Carroll said. “In which case you are left with inefficient and costly subsidies for technologies that may be irrelevant in the near future.”
“India has a tremendous potential for solar energy,” he added. “We all realise that we have to stop burning dead dinosaurs to get our fuel. But certain renewables are still going through their cost curves and learning curves to get the required amount of output and to jump into it too big too soon leads to inefficient subsidies.”
liberalisation - social sector, redefine role of states both given for first part.... second part if D as author is vary of integrating with world economy and skeptical about role of liberalisation in poverty elimination ...
Repeating again:
those who are in borderline in paper 1 or paper 2 or both..just study..instead of looking endless times through solutions.
time is less this time
for CSE any one above 90 has good chance
for IFOS any one with 105-106 has good chance
and specific for paper two - Those who are in 64-65-66 range..just start studying.. RC most Coaching’s get it wrong..every year many who are in this situation end up clearing paper 2
the exam was tough ..both paper 1 and paper 2 was tricky very much...
also with covid lockdowns and additional mental strains, dnt be harsh on urself for not being able to perform well
All the best guys and girls..
it is either 3 or 123 for dams monsoon RC
but since author emphasizes only on creating space prior to monsoon.. will second option be wrong..hence 3 only
For statement 3
The world over, dams are constructed mainly for the purposes of irrigation, power generation, and flood control. While the first two roles are acknowledged, the role of dams in flood control has always been underestimated. It is unfortunate that in both irrigation and hydel projects, flood control is completely ignored.
For statement 2
However, it is unfortunate that the maximum amount of water is stored in reservoirs even before the close of the monsoon, only to ensure greater electricity generation and irrigation.
(Note risk is due to electricity generation and irrigation both...not hydropower alone)
hence most likely answer is 3 only here
Also the overall crux of article is “
There should be space for greater storage of water in reservoirs before the onset of monsoon
Space in reservoirs
In view of all these problems and to ensure that the flood control purpose of dams is met, it is important that at least 30% of the storage capacity of dams be kept free before the monsoon.
The meteorological department can predict rains or cyclones only a few days in advance. Therefore, keeping space in reservoirs before the monsoon begins must be done whether or not there are heavy rains, as no State can afford to take risks in the manner that Kerala did.
There should be space for greater storage of water in reservoirs before the onset of monsoon
Wait..i am compiling the most likely answers for Reading comprehension...went Through all articles again
@Sappling its unlikely to be T bills alone..will be 123..nevertheless good discussion with u..alll the best

@Equalizer both articles in total says AI is yet to create meaningful song or write short story..lets see...i was never convinced of wireless transmission from first..2nd option was confusing but looks like its yet to be accomplished
But this is not a good way to set questions.. give certain passage from a random paragraph of articles and then asking to deduce
neither there are many debatable in paper 1 nor csat was easy rather passages were most tricky this year compared to all 4-5 years
algorithm of forumites
step 1.random X comes with proof to convince others.
step 2.random Y comes with counter proof
step 3. stalemate as none get convinced as both think their marked answer are right
step 4.restart step number 1 with another different set of random X,Y restarting same discussion on same question

. In which of the following activities are Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) satellites used?
1. Assessment of crop productivity
2. Locating groundwater resources
3. Mineral exploration
4. Telecommunications
5. Traffic studies
Select the correct answer using the code given below.
(a) 1, 2 and 3 only
(b) 4 and 5 only
(c) 1 and 2 only
(d) 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
similar option formulation to AI
if one goes with 123 and 5 as applications of remote sensing...then i wl have to mark 12345..but telecommunication is done by communication satellites we know that..
hence most apt is 123 only ignoring 5th option .hence one doesnt know
just Posted here as someone was arguing 1234 is right and hence 5th option must be right for AI.

Guys regarding the critical tiger habitat question, I have submission to make. Wiki mentions that the core area of Nagarjun-Srisailam Tiger Reserve is "The core area of this reserve is 1,200 km2(460 sq mi)". Whereas, the Core zone of the Sundarban National Park is having an area of 1330.12 sq km (http://www.wildbengal.com/sundarban.php).
I don't want to say this is wrong or right, only want to know if there is some critical info with you guys. Thanks.

Similarly, theregulation of a technology cannot bedetermined by a single principle butwould need the application of more thanone principle depending on the needand context. For example, environmentalregulation cannot be based solely on theprecautionary principle, or the “polluterpays” principle. Rather, what is requiredis a carefully developed regulatory policybased on various relevant principles andtheir application in specifi c contexts. In that sense, biotechnology regulationhas come a long way since the late 1980sand early 1990s when biotechno logy reg-ulation was taking shape. In fact, over theyears the global regulation of biotechnol-ogy and national regulatory policies hasundergone a sea change on account ofvarious factors but there is no harmonisa-tion at the global level. Answer ( A or C ) first part .2nd part very logicalAnd also verbatim....Jobless Growth, Persistent Poverty, Rising InequalityThe fi rst persistent crisis is the phenomenon of jobless growth. The biggest failure of the past 25 years is that, despite suchrapid economic growth, employment creation has simply notbeen commensurate. In fact, the employment elasticity of outputdeclined steadily from reasonably high levels during 1972–73to 1983 (0.60) through modest levels during 1983 to 1993–94(0.41), .........The second persistent crisis is that poverty persists on a large scale even after three decades of the most rapid economic growth, faster than anywhere in the developing world, as also in history, except for China. Of course, growth has helped bring about a signifi cant reduction in absolute poverty. Yet, itsincidence remains high. In 2011–12, at least 25%, possibly 30%, Of 1.2 billion people live in absolute poverty below the critical minimum in terms of food and clothing. These are the peren-nial poor. If we were to use a higher poverty line that allowsfor other basic needs such as appropriate shelter, adequate healthcare and education, it is estimated that about 75% of the population lives in absolute poverty. So 2nd part answer D 100%351639521-Liberalisation-by-Deepak-Nayyar.pdf2020. gas renewablesFirst part C , verbatim......However, he also warned against investing too heavily in renewable energy at a time when the technology is not yet ready.“You have to bring renewables at the right time so you aren’t trying to bring them to market before they are actually ready,”So C is 100% correctPart 21st statement verbatimcertain renewables are still going through their cost curves and learning curves to get the required amount of output and to jump into it too big too soon leads to inefficient subsidies.”2nd statement verbatim...The Indian government has strongly committed to its targets of reducing emissions by 33 per cent by 2030, as set out during the COP21 summit in Paris, and towards this it has initiated a strong push towards a gas-based economy and has also invested heavily in renewable energy.Though gas is not sole basis for renewable energy but 2nd statement doesn't use extreme word like only on th basis of gas based economy so 2nd statement is 100% correct .So Answer is C 100% correct .https://www.thehindu.com/business/time-to-leave-history-of-coal-behind/article16793939.ece#!

When the two options of biotech First part are verbatim and rest two are not..how can all be right 😏

someone or other will create flutter only to creaste doubts in mind Of others 😒

@Upright but as a general ruleIf the statement is not found in verbatim it's mostly likely wrongSo answer comes out be1.eco lib frst part a2.biotech frst part b

@Rasila and i know exactly which line u r going to quote. But it was the premise of liberalisation...not of the author...jo line dikhane ja rahe ho..read preceding line of that..it wl be clear the assumption.

How much were you getting?
I was getting 117 from Vision, but could not qualify for IFS.
Around 110 without controversy..some questions would have turned around (but i dnt come in general cat.)
cutoff might be in 97-100 range but atleast 2 answers of vision ias, insights key flipped from upsc keys.
Bhai turn off the laptop and phone..dnt think too much..give rest to mind and body..then think with a clear mind
the phase just after result is shocking most times and too many negative thoughts in mind..hence just take rest for now..
take care
takecare
Out
116 in GS 1 (Shankar keys)
70 in csat (Byjus).
7th attempt, sincerely 6th attempt. Wrote 2 mains n missed interview by ~20 marks previously. Any gyan as to how to handle post pre result days ??
Stay off from social media..spend time only one your own self for next 3 days..dnt be harsh on urself..dnt think about upsc exam at all for three day...divert mind somehow..movies, friends in videocall etc....after third day when u have a clear mind , then think of next steps about this exam or any alternative or anything else...all the best..takecare..
@Aurang_mirasudar very much expected. I found myself struggling with some numerical questions although I've always aced apti and of course the paragraph based questions are always vague AF. Adding it's own bit towards the unfairness of this exam.
True dude..these passages dnt make sense at all..the way they are framed..random paragraphs And verbatim quoted from regular articles as answers..how can one answer it without the fulll articles being given..unfair this is...over and above the exam stress..over above it covid stress this year..
anyways takerest..dnt think too much for nw..
Remember your inbox message..happy for you...do well in mains 😊
Thanks! You found the source of two passages that I couldn't find at all. Helped a lot.
And congrats to you, too! 😊
Thank you 😊
@Aurang_mirasudar sir what's this CSAT answer key that anyone is praising here? Is there any link?I couldn't make it this year, must be bcoz of CSAT... but i want to check it. Pls share.
revised one..some typos in intial key
Most important is that to have the inner strength to standup again
Your utility will diminish once people start seeing you not clearing few exams (will not call them failures )(because we tried )
Second successive prelims failure of mine and cried a lot after it
My parents said we don't want this exam what we want is you and probably not like this
Will pick up all my effort to give it a try again
Take adequate rest..let the mind and body heal a bit before undertaking next plunge into preparation.
takecare!
Welcome..and dnt think too much with the hazy, confused and shocked mind post result..takes a week minimum to get normal..try diverting the mind from this exam related things for a week..then restart 🙂
