UPSC Mains 2024 result out. IN or OUT?

Scrolling through over here I saw a discssion thread for every year but didn't find one for the next year.

So, this thread is dedicated to the discssions regarding CSE 2024. Anyone planning to appear for the exam next year can join the discussion.

Looking at the level of paper and kind of questions asked this year, I believe we are going to need a lot of support from each other. Hopefully this thread will grow and help a lot of aspirants, both old and new.

We can do it.

Need help.

I am planning to change my room in orn. I want to shift in with people who have previously appeared for mains and are serious for future attempts.[This was my 3rd attempt and 2nd mains].

I feel a strongly knit sincere group can do wonders in this prep which i always felt lacking in my prep.

Do drop a msg if anyone is willing to go ahead with this. I will return to orn by 15th of oct.

Preferably 3/4 people in 1 flat.

Do take a look at Saraswati Vihar location. Plenty of good folks, studious, plus cheaper accomodation and cleaner than ORN. And UPSC junta.

Plus the ORN wali vibes. Has all the things you like about ORN and none of the things you hate about ORN

In a dilemma between IFoS and CAT 2024. Both on the same day.

Would appreciate clarity on:

1. How is the IFoS as a service?

3. Any inputs on CAT vs IFoS?

3. Pros and cons of going for CAT after a 2 year break. I'm an engineer (GEM) from a tier 1 college.

Thanks in advance.

Same conundrum and similar profile. DM if you want

Hi there. A sort of an oldie here. To begin with,I hope the Mains went well for all those who appeared. In my case, this was the first Mains(in my 4th attempt) and I certainly zoned out and got overwhelmed during the intervening period of Prelims and Mains. I believe I didn't really quite much performed as I could've.
So,to keep it short- I am seeking at max 1-2 accountability partners who appeared this time around and feel like to be in a similar situation as mine. In this regard,I merely seek kind of a 15-20 minutes talk at the end of the day. This could involve moderately peer reviewing the answers for the next 3-4 months. Furthermore,I plan to join some Daily Answer thing for the next Mains.
If anyone feels like being in the same boat, try contacting.
*My optional is PSIR
*Will restart with studies on 11th Oct.

Hii all,

Need some suggestions from the community....I have written mains this year it was my 2nd attempt and first mains , after every paper in mains I felt I have not done enough justice to it and I know there are many loopholes in my answer writing....so what shall I do next? Join mgp again or focus on pyq brainstorming and enriching my notes ...just muddled up in confusion where to start from again for mains prep. Any advice from Seniors who have gone through this phase would be a huge help🙏🙏

@Neyawn @Steph_Curry @Ganesh_Gaitonde @tedmosby @Rashmirathi

First of all take a break ,enjoy somedays away from books to rejuvenate yourself as your body and soul deserves this . Then go ahed with pyq brainstorming

Guys in a dilemma, i gave upsc mains 2024, i got a job offer that I want to take up, starting this month 10th.

But UPSC interview preparation also need to be done.
In a dilemma to accept offer or not.

two things i'm sure is

1. I will take 1 full month leave before my interview date

2. can give 5hours per day for interview preparation starting from november 1st week

should i take up the offer, will it be problematic ?
experienced people like@tedmosby @Neyawn @Rashmirathi @DM can kindly help.

also please suggest some courses/ newspaper analysis that we can follow for interview prep.
im thinking to take forum current affairs course only again, although it seems little costly this time :)

PS: without loss of generality, reasonable and hopeful assumptions are made

To be honest, even I am looking for jobs post Mains filhaal toh. In my opinion, you should take the job offer because sab kuch itna uncertain hai ye process mai ki we do not know what will be the outcome of this year's Mains and ofcourse, jobs are scarce currently. So for the purpose of financial/psychological security, you should take up the job.

P.S. I was in the same situation last year. Idk why was I so happy about my Mains 2023 performance that I left a very good job opportunity in AI just because I was thinking that I would get an interview call. After I didn't get an interview call, I was cursing myself about not preparing well enough for Plan B. [Apr 16 ko samjha ki interview call toh bhai deserve karte hi nahi thhe :P i.e. I didn't have enough marks to deserve that interview call and I had hinged all my hopes to it because I was highly deluded back then]

I will be back!

@Averageaspirant   @ScarredEngineer My friend with a similar background
(Tier 1 College, GEM) appeared for CAT 2023 and scored 99.15 percentile but still didn’t get any interview calls from the IIMs. This time, he's focusing on IFoS. I was facing this similar dilemma and decided to go for IFoS too. Hope it helps!

Mai toh kuch bolunga nahi with regards to strategy because I haven't appeared even once for IFoS Mains (I have stopped filling it since my 2nd attempt). But macha ke aana hai ye baar bas :D
I know post Mains fatigue hogaya hoga (especially because of Maths) but I have "heard" a lot of people say that competition kam hai udhar so it's your chance to shine. Maths ke liye toh I would say ek baar Shivraj sir se baat kar lena.

I will be back!
