CSE 2022: Plan/ Strategy/ Daily Routine
This is an everything thread for all stuff 2022. You can post your daily goals, end-of-the-day updates, weekly targets or any weird thing you use to measure your progress. You can put into words & post the soul-sucking sadness that is threatening to devour you & your productivity. You can write what made your day & let others experience the happiness too, at least vicariously. This is a thread to pick each other up. This is a thread to keep each other accountable. This is a no-judgement zone.
--------
“This is one more piece of advice I have for you: don't get impatient. Even if things are so tangled up you can't do anything, don't get desperate or blow a fuse and start yanking on one particular thread before it's ready to come undone. You have to realize it's going to be a long process and that you'll work on things slowly, one at a time.”
— Haruki Murakami, Norwegian Wood

Urban Local Body in union territories is applied by President then why the amendments are done by Parliament for Delhi municipal Corporation
There are two Acts here - the 74th AA and the MCD Act, 1957.
The 74th AA laid down certain conditions on how to form Urban Local Bodies. For instance, atleast 1/3rd reservation for women. The president could alter these conditions for UTs. So s/he can say that UTs should have atleast 50% reservation for women.
Within the 74th AA, it was understood that Municipal Corporations have to be statutory bodies (made by SLAs for states and by Parliament for UTs). MCD already existed via the 1957 Act. After the 74th AA was passed, the 1957 Act was amended in 1993. Many changes were brought here; for instance 1/3rd reservation for women. Now if the President wanted, he could have changed the condition to 50%. Then Parliament would have had to necessarily include the 50% condition instead of the 1/3rd. That's the difference between President's power of what should be applied to ULBs, and Parliament's power to create the ULB.
Hence for the merger, the MCD Act is again being amended.

Hi friends, it’s good to be back on forum after long. Seeing familiar names from YPT gives me positive vibes. My huge respect to all pursuing their dreams passionately and sorry for all the unsolicited wake ups.
Our celebrations at home for holy festival of Maha Shivaratri have started. Lord Shiva has huge symbolic significance in my life. My father sahab has named me after him. We consider this festival as new year. So taking resolution in this holy week, I am promising myself to post daily targets here and review them every night for 21 days.
Past few days had been productive, however my preparation is never plan based. I pick up topics based on mood. Over time, it leads to nowhere. So this time, lets do it in planned manner.
Targets for Feb 28 (day 1)
- Meditation 1/2
- Prelims (last year’s geography and polity mocks - let’s see how many can be revised and if doing it is fruitful) (6)
- PT (newspaper, transcripts, one current theme topic) (4)
- Meditation 2/2
Looking forward to a good start !
Not as much a good day as much I planned it inside out. Entire February, I worked on GS Mains. Now switching to Pre and PT will take some resistance.
- Morning meditation done, evening one missed.
- Prelims (I started with Polity previous year mocks, found them intimidating for the reason that its been long I have looked at Laxmikant. So switched to the text book, did two chapters) (1)
- PT (newspaper done, travelling transcripts done, CA theme - caste census done) (6)
Targets for March 1 (day 2)
- Prelims (Spectrum 1/4) (4)
- CSAT (PYQ) (3)
- PT (newspaper, CA theme - Strategic autonomy) (3)
- Meditation 2x
Lets start this March very well ✌️
One of the good days to start a new month. However, the old habit of picking up subjects based on mood and not bidding them good bye after allotted time won’t go easy.
Reviewing now - Meditation (done, will resume dairy writing from now on). Spectrum (just 1 hour) Csat (didn’t start) PT (did newspaper and Hijab controversy issue)
Targets for March 2 (day 3)
1. Meditation 2x; DW
2. Prelims - Spectrum (1)
3. Mains - PSIR 2B contemporary developments (5)
4. PT - newspaper, transcripts on travelling, IR (4)
Let’s carry on the good momentum ✌️
I’ll count it as a good and productive day. Couldn’t study as many hours, but the day was indeed different in the breed and self assuring. I feel more confident about life this way.
Reviewing now - almost everything done except Spectrum and DW. Past couple of days had been disproportionately spent on PT, primarily because of associated excitement about new things and optimism biasness 3.0, but now would be more pragmatic in coming days. Would take in Pre full and PT less day for some days.
Targets for March 3 (day 4)
1. Meditation; Diary Writing
2. Spectrum (complete revising underlined notes in the book) + something more
3. Newspaper
Looking forward to thoughtful thursday !
Just another average day. One friend here has shared a very meaningful line. Things dont just happen on their own, they are made to happen. Very much soothing to read it after day long efforts.
Reviewing now, Spectrum would take couple of more hours. Diary Writing yet again pending. Will plan this tomorrow on priority basis.
Targets for March 4 (day 5)
1. Meditation 2x; Diary Writing
2. Complete Spectrum, shift to Laxmikant
3. Newspaper, CA topic - Online Gaming.
Will ensure good enough study before Lunch. We will make it count !
Decent Day.
Reviewing now - Spectrum, Newspaper done. Couldn’t shift to Laxmikant. In addition to Online Gaming, did Pegasus Spyware as well.
Targets for March 5 (day 6)
1. Meditation 2x, DW + some videos on same
2. Laxmikant underlined notes 1/2
3. Newspaper, CA topic - New AIS Cadre Rules
Tomorrow is weekend. We will finish it off in Dhoni’s style !
An average day.
Reviewing now - all done except 1/2 of Laxmikant as was planned. I guess it will take two more days.
Targets for March 6 (day 7)
1. Meditation 2x, DW
2. Laxmikant notes underlined 1/3
3. newspaper, CA topic - local jobs reservation
Wishing everyone a healthy weekend !
Sudden change in middle of the day, gave myself a half day off. This break has come after a long time. I zoom called my college friends, the laughter that followed was unprecedented. Fond memories !
Reviewing now - all done except opening the book Laxmikant.
Targets for March 7 (day 8)
1. Meditation 2x, DW
2. Laxmikant notes underlined - complete them anyhow. What is left, consider it left.
3. Newspaper, CA topic
Tomorrow is Monday, we will ensure its colour would not fade to Blue !
Monday was indeed colorful. Long live such days !
First half was lethargic. Picked up the pace in the second half. Towards the end, I watched MEA media briefings on Operation Ganga in their youtube channel. I believe IFS is very much a professional service. Even with limited resources at hand, they are doing things really well. All previous Evacuation Missions have enriched confidence in our Diaspora.
Reviewing now - Laxmikant challenge made it a long day. Considerable portions done, what is left, we will read after couple of weeks. Everything else done, missed the Cleaning Meditation though.
Targets for March 8 (day 9)
1. Meditation 2x, DW
2. Pre - Note making from Previous Year’s Mock tests of Polity; CSAT 2021 Paper
3. PT - transcripts on Home State turned UT, CA Topic - Operation Ganga
I also have some outdoor work in the evening, will try to clock in good hours of study somehow.
Looking forward to another good day in the week, kar ke dikhayenge !
Good enough day.
Reviewing now - due to some unavoidable reasons, I had to change the Targets. So PT transcripts done. Some notes on JK made. Operation Ganga done. Meditation and Prelims targets untouched. Meditation missed
Targets for March 9 (day 10)
1. Meditation 2x, DW
2. Pre - Previous year’s mock tests of Polity, CSAT
3. PT - notes on JK. CA - Change in marriage age of women. Marital Rape.
Expecting tomorrow a big day. Wishing us all good luck ✌️
I am not sure how to rate the day. I was full of energy. I had good vibes. But I couldn’t complete targets.
Reviewing now - All done considerably except CSAT.
Targets for March 10 (day 11)
1. Meditation 2x, DW
2. Pre - previous year mock tests of Modern History, CSAT 2021 paper
3. PT - Newspaper, CA topic - random comments by foreign dignitaries on India’s sovereign matters
Thursdays have never disappointed me. Will ensure the status quo remains intact. Good luck dostoen ✌️
Thursday flower nahi, fire tha. All targets considerably done. Some questions of csat 2021 are left though.
Targets for March 11 (day 12)
1. Meditation 2x, DW
2. Geography NCERTs 1/2 + CSAT 2020 PYQ
3. Newspaper, CA topic - recent NSE scam
Let’s carry the momentum, good days are awaiting !
I had some work outdoors, so couldn’t study post evening tea. PT targets done, Pre targets untouched.
Targets for March 12 (day 13)
1. Meditation 2x, DW
2. Optional - would post by night what I did.
3. PT - newspaper, CA topic
Tomorrow is a weekend, we will finish it off in Dhoni’s style 2.0 !
Decent day, full of good vibes, amazing food.
Reviewing now - Meditation missed. PSIR - just random thoughts, no concrete work done. PT - did very well, in fact it was PT Plus.
Targets for March 13 (day 14)
1. Meditation 2x, DW
2. PSIR 1B - refer to topper copies and only ias, unique academy compilation
3. PT - newspaper, CA Topic - CBDC, Virtual Assets
Expecting tomorrow a big day, would ensure it won’t be just another Sunday. Good luck dostoen ✌️
Today was another healthy day. Generally for past couple of years, I have been restraining most of the temptations and do not easily submit to going with the flow. Today I made a little break. Since everyone around is discussing what a good movie The Kashmir Files is, hence I could not stop myself watching it. Truly a masterpiece, yahi sach hai.
Reviewing now - Meditation missed, PSIR untouched. PT done. Also watched Rajan’s interview with Karan Thapar. I personally do not subscribe to his views. Would sleep little less to compensate for the entertainment part.
Targets for March 14 (day 15)
1. Meditation 2x, DW
2. PT - newspaper, CA topic, transcripts.
3. PSIR 1B - revision.
Let’s start this new week with high josh !
Today was a lazy day. Anxiety regarding results has started kicking in. Need to be strong somehow ✌️
Reviewing now - meditation missed for third day in a row, not a good thing. PSIR 1 B revised 1/4. PT done.
Targets for March 15 (day 16)
1. Meditation 2x (on priority), DW
2. PT - newspaper, transcripts, home state JK.
3. Time for leisure.
Looking forward to a healthy day. Good luck dostoen : )
An average day with amazing dinner. With results being delayed, it has eased my nerves for now.
Reviewing now - meditation missed again, not a good thing, even when i tried, i just could not keep my eyes closed. PT portion considerably done. Leisure time was good.
Targets for March 16 (day 17)
1. Meditation 2x, DW
2. PT - newspaper, transcripts, stock exchange, jammu kashmir
Looking foward to a big day, will deliver good output. Good luck dostoen ✌️
Calling it a day, too early today. Will watch some movie. This sudden news of upcoming result would take time to sink in. Won’t fake it, but i am as much nervous as much I am excited.
Reviewing now - meditation resumed, Stock Exchange missed, Jammu Kashmir considerably done. My love for the land has ensured i went too much in depth and not dimensions. Will correct it in coming days. Below average day overall.
Targets for March 17 (day 18)
1. No plans as of now, would post by night what all I did.
Good luck dostoen, may tomorrow be a good day !
PS - I will write two letters to self. One tonight, another tomorrow night. Will keep both of them confidential.
Today was not a good day. Flunked in Mains once again. Doing it consecutively is not ordinary. It’s extra ordinary. This entire cycle has been very much confusing for me. Clearing prelims effortlessly, flunking in mains with efforts. I shall work on changing orientation towards Mains, and it will take time. Will ensure good enough answer writing practise. Meanwhile, some of my best friends have cleared this stage, I am just so happy for them and family.
Reviewing now - watched some random stuff here and there, nothing concrete. Watched a movie just now - The Lunchbox, could relate very well.
Targets for March 18 (day 19)
1. No major targets as such - my father sahab has planned to take me somewhere on a short vacation, i am just very curious.
2. Will look towards psc mains, limited days are left, limited choices are left.
Haar nahi maanenge. A battle is lost, war still remains.
Today was much better than what should have been otherwise. My sincere thanks to all fellow friends who have reached out personally. Thank you all for good wishes and care.
Reviewing now - nothing studied. Time spent well in leisure.
Targets for March 19 (day 20)
1. PSIR 2A (1/2)
2. Meditation 2x
Expecting a good start tomorrow, good luck !
Not a good day. Was not able to focus on studies as much, very rare it has happened in past couple of months.
Reviewing now - 1/5 of 2A done with looking at some topper copies. Meditation missed
Targets for March 20 (day 21)
1. Meditation 2x
2. PSIR 2A (1/2), Topper copies.
Expecting tomorrow a good day, may God bestow the blessing on all of us !
Not a good day, and i am sure more such days are awaiting. Ajeeb si mohabbat ki hai upsc ne mere saath, kabhi khushi kabhi gham.
But today was special for some other reasons. Today marked the 21st day of promise made to self regarding posting here and reviewing them without a break. I will continue this exercise, but won’t promise it this time. Promises should not be made on little casual things, let the words uttered weigh significant trust and faith.
Reviewing now - saw some topper copies of PSIR ; meditation missed.
Targets for March 21 (day 22)
1. Meditation 2x
2. PSIR - good copies, 2A
This was not a good week. Expecting a V shaped recovery in subsequent days.
An average day. Had a sleepless night, niece was also unwell, so it affected everything.
Reviewing now - considerable topper copies of PSIR done.
Targets for March 22 (day 23)
1. Meditation 2x, DW
2. PSIR 2A / 1B
Looking forward to a better day. Good luck dostoen : )
Below average day, potential is much more, deliberately keeping it slow, i guess the break which I didn’t take post mains, its time has come.
Reviewing now - saw my own GS copies, meditation missed. Leaving meditation for a month, have joined back Aerobics.
Targets for March 23 (day 24)
1. Review my own GS copies.
2. Exercise - Aerobics.
I have some outdoor work, will still keep tomorrow a big day, mark my words, will come back with better report !
An average day. I had more in me to study but the outdoor work took time longer than planned.
Reviewing now - all done.
Targets for March 24 (day 25)
1. PSIR 1B (1/3) - revision and value addition
2. Exercise (on priority)
Looking forward to a happy thursday, good luck dostoen : )

Reviewing now - nothing substantial done.
Targets for March 25 (day 26)
1. PSIR 1B (1/3) - revision and value addition

1. PSIR 1B (1/3) - revision and value addition

1. Jkas - GS 2 mock test; round 1 revision of GS 3
2. Meditation 2x
Keep fighting soldiers. Good time is awaiting. Best of luck : )
Another good day. All credit goes to unprecedented date sheet of jkas exams. Studying these days is too much efforts taking. Generally, it has been a fight against time, now it’s a fight against self.
Reviewing now - the mock test I wrote in 3 shifts with cumulative time of 4 hours +. Not good. 50% revision of GS 3 round 1 done, 50% left.
Targets for April 5 (day 37)
1. GS 3 complete somehow and write one mock test
2. Meditation 2x
I’m well aware targets for tomorrow would drain all residual energy from me. But if not now, when ?

Is it just me who feels this year's Economy PT365 is less of PT365 and more of Mains365? Isme prelims ke liye kya padhe?
Also does anyone have a 30-35 pages compilation of sports events/news? Yeh bhi 1 baar dekh kar jana hai...

U can still cover monthly magazine.
Better to cover monthly magazine rather than pta 365.

Have been going through a bad phase these last few days, miss November when I would be able to study well without any distractions due to the post prelims rage. Now, I'm back where I was last year with prelims coming at a seemingly faster rate than what I had expected. Need some discipline back in life and what better place than this thread. Going to start slow but need to pick up pace by 1st April.
Targets:
- Finish Economy
- Environment PYQs (30)
- Newspaper
- IF all done, Mock Test
Also, thanks for everyone who wakes me up. Really appreciate it.
All the best everyone, hope we all do justice to the goals that we've set out for ourselves! :D
Good morning people!
I did all the targets except PYQs. I attempted them but yet to finish the analysis. Having a late start to the day after a long time, long way to go to build discipline.
Targets:
- Environment PYQs analysis
- Agri Bodies
- Newspaper
- Eco Test + Analysis
- If time, Budget test
Bad day. Almost didn't do anything except newspaper and giving the test.
Targets:
- Env PYQ - Must do
- Test 1 Analysis
- Eco: Test 2 + Analysis
- Newspaper
- Mapping - EN IG (1/3)
Analysing some tests takes forever for me, couldn't finish it today and hence couldn't give the other test either. Rest all done.
Targets:
- Env PYQs
- Finish Test 1 Analysis
- Eco - Revise Test Tidbits
- Newspaper
- Mapping - EN IG (2/3)
- If time, Test 2 + Analysis
Wasted one whole day but finished the targets today. Really need this new month to bring in a lot of energy.
Targets:
- Finish Economy (tidbits)
- Env PYQs
- Geography (1/4)
- Mapping - EN IG (2/3)
- Newspaper
All the best everyone! We may not win the small daily battles but often, to win the war, all we need to do is survive!
Not a bad day but potential to do so much more. Will need to give my own best so that I can feel okay with myself with whatever the outcome of this exam will be. Fingers crossed.
Did not start mapping and could not give enough time to PYQs. Rest all done.
Targets:
- Geography (2/4) - Finish Physical Geog
- Env PYQs - Finish till 2011
- Mapping - EN IG (2/3)
- Newspaper
Day was fine, scope to improve productivity remains.
Did not start mapping and PYQs will require more time. Similarly, could only do 50% of physical geography. Seems like I overestimated myself.
Targets:
- Geography (3/5) - Finish Physical Geography
- Mock Test
- Newspaper
- Env PYQs - Finish till 2011
- If time, Mapping - EN IG (2/3) OR start PT365
Didn't do a lot today. The mock test was (surprisingly) tiring. Repeating most targets for tomorrow.
Must do:
- Geography (3/5) - Finish Physical Geography
- Mock Test Analysis
- Newspaper
Try to do:
- Env PYQs
- Mapping - EN IG (2/3)
While the day in itself wasn't impressive, what was worse was that test analyse took up 5-6 hours of my day. Surely I'm doing something wrong. Usually I go through the solutions word by word and add to my notes whatever I get wrong or miss out on. Tips for doing the analysis quickly? :)
Could only finish the test analysis and newspaper. Disappointing.
Targets:
- Geography (3/5) - Finish Physical Geography
- Env PYQs
- Mapping - EN IG (Finish)
- Newspaper
- PT 365 S&T (1/5)
Took me an extra day but got done with physical geography (finally!)
Targets:
- FLT: Test + Analysis
- Geography (4/5) - IG
- Env PYQs
- Newspaper
- PT365 S&T (2/5)
Finished Env PYQs, gave the test (but half of its analysis remains) and did the newspaper.
Targets:
- Finish Test Analysis
- Geography (4/5) - IG
- Geography PYQs
- Newspaper
- PT365 S&T
Need to do a lot more to be in the race. Have a good day people!
Did all but geography will take a lot of time than initially expected.
Targets:
- Geography - IG Finish + SFG Revision
- Geography - PYQs
- Newspaper
- PT365 S&T
Need to work on my sleep cycle, have been seeing efficiency problems since the last few weeks. Fingers crossed. Have a good day :)
Wasn't in the mood to study but couldn't afford to do nothing so I studied S&T from my evernote. Today, most targets remain the same.
Only thing I'm adding is to revise a few old tests.
Have a good Sunday :D
Average day.
Minimum Targets:
- Test + Analysis
- Finish Indian Geography + SFG
- Newspaper
Could not finish SFG Geography, rest done. Test analysis takes up most of my day, need to reduce the time. Sigh.
Targets:
- Finish SFG Geography
- Human Geography
- Geography PYQs
- PT365
- Newspaper
- If time, attempt a test
Could not find the time to do PYQs. Rest done albeit not as much progress as I'd have liked.
Targets:
- Finish Human & Eco Geography
- Test Analysis Finish
- Geography PYQs
- PT365 S&T
- Newspaper

Targets for March 21 (day 22)
1. Meditation 2x
