Hi! Just wanted to share something. After failing 3 prelims including 2022 one, I decided to give my preparation a break and started looking for a job. I'm 27 and was devastated this time cz after doing everything in my capacity, I didn't clear this exam. I left ORN, came back and in mid-august gave an interview for researcher post in a zoo, got selected. Now after 2-3months, I'm finding it difficult to focus on my studies along with a job. The workload is not much, but the journey takes about 3hrs in total. How do I keep myself motivated and consistent now? Will posting my targets here help?

@Avixiva Congrats,yaar! Your post made me recall the time when some peeps used to be regular with posting daily targets on this thread.As a follow up,I commit myself to posting daily targets(even if I will be having other commitments) for the rest of the days leading up to 28th May(barring 28 November to 4th December+when college exams happen). I have been poor on discipline for over a month now and I felt deeply anxious yesterday night!

@D503 Pardon granted, comrade!

@sstarrr Haha.Also,best of luck for your result!

@Foolphoton Congratulations for the job.
Is there anyway you can shift to a place near to office? 3 hours traveling must be really tiring.

If this isn't possible, try finishing of things like Newspaper reading/editorial discussions etc during the journey.

For a prelims centric approach, you can also join the PYQ telegram channel on telegram. Mcqs can be solved while traveling (I think) + you will have enough done enough questions by May.

Man; how can certain things be so similar in nature!

Even I am 27 y/o. Even I am 3 attempts down and haven’t cleared the prelims yet. Even I joined a job a month back. Even my preparation is not going as it should be but somehow I’m trying to manage it jaise taise.

The only difference is that you left ORN but I, on the other hand, am visiting this place on a daily basis as my office is at ORN only haha!

Now coming to the “How do I keep myself motivated and consistent now?” part, what I try to do is that I make sure that I am not putting a complete full stop to my habit of reading and studying for this exam. As my working days are 5 days  a week, I make sure that I am giving at least 3-4 hours during my shift days, reading things related to the exam. I commute by metro and it takes an hour to reach one side, i utilise the travelling hours by reading newspaper and current affairs, so you can do the same, as suggested by Joey as well. For the weekends/ offs, I have planned to try to pull the maximum I can ie around 9-10 hours but abhi ke liye yeh ho nahi paa raha lol.

Also, I am of the view that as you have put in quite a few years into the preparation, so you must be having notes prepared along with you for most of the syllabus. And hence I would suggest to scan these notes and make pdfs and store it in your primary device which you use. You can read and revise your own scanned notes whenever you are free at your workplace, maybe during break hours, or whenever it is possible, as you mentioned there isn’t much workload wrt your job profile. I do the same, i use a tablet as my primary device. I am doing GS4 right now so I have my notes scanned in pdf format, jab bhi I get time, I revise those notes.

Motivation is something jo khud andar se aati hai. So I would request you ki ekdum band na kar dena tayaaari karna, kam padhna but padhna zaroor, aise hee motivation ka momentum bana rahega and with time, consistency bhi ayegi.

About the “daily target posting part” ; I can’t help much as yeh mere sarr ke upar se jaata hai.

Wishing you the best of luck dost. :)

@TheNotorious @Joeyisthebest thanks so much for your time and support mates. Yes, abhi ke liye I am trying to finish the newspaper and my digital notes (this week- Indian Society) while in commute. And after Jan'23 , I'm planning to shift nearby my workplace. That telegram pyq suggestion was new to me, so from now on I'm also going to focus on that. And yeah@TheNotorious we have much in common, I also prefer tab as my primary device to compile and read the notes I made.

Kabhi kabhi bas lagta hai iss comfort zone me phas ke na reh jaun, I deserve more and I deserve better bas ye man me hai. And as I am working in forest dept, to DFO etc ke kaam ko qareeb se dekh ke aur motivation milti hai. Hope ki iss baar sab sahi ho jaye. All the best to you too dost...
