Shubh Ratri!
@Lawstice Welcome bhai. Also, Siya-Ram is .
Is there any secret/esoteric way to get out of a rut extending more than a month? or maybe we can say years, tbvh.
All these start small, create a schedule, focus on building habits, know your why, etc seems good in theory or while giving gyaan to others. I know many people do these things and they get the results. but for me executing these has become an unattainable task, the vicious loop of procrastination and instant gratification just don't seem to end. and it been over years since i've had any decent day. I know in the end i'd have to figure things out on my own and ranting won't take me anywhere.
Anyway, thanks for reading my rant. Suggestions are welcome, though I know they help much, unless I help myself.
In my jee preparation my math teacher always says one line..Change the habit and change the result..These line are always motivate me when I was demotivated..
My suggestion is to start slowly do one thing in your bucket list.. And then add next one slowly and gradually increase the list and add all pending task.. And try to do as much you can, some days you achieve all and some day you achieve only some goals and some days you do nothing.
Sometimes it's OK achieve nothing on some day, But it's not OK to repeat the same mistake as the previous one because if you do that you your are on the same floor you are trying to get up..
Best of luck
Join the league.. đ

It's quite common to feel detached from the work that you have been doing for a prolonged period of time. You see we humans have a need for achievement, but cse is a long and an occassionally dull journey. If you don't get that hit of having achieved something at regular intervals , it becomes difficult to continue with the same vigour with which you started. So , my advice to you would be to incorporate regular tests in your schedule, and whenever you feel bored or bummed out , give a test and reward yourself when you perform good. Along with this , you may want to incorporate yet another management technique called Management By objectives (MBO) in your preparation. MBO entails setting SMART goals viz specific, measurable, attainable , relevant, and timely. Nevertheless, there's no guarantee that doing these things will pull you out of the rut. But, over the years I have come to realise that these cliches about starting small, setting goals ,etc have survived because these are the only options available at hand. My father has been chiding me from my childhood days to study according to a timetable , and i scoffed at the idea till i began preparing for cse. Now timetables are the only thing that impart some sort of sanity to me and prevent me from relapsing into long bouts of numbness and langour. In fact, now i wish i had continued with many of the good habits that our parents try to inculcate in us during our childhood like early to bed early to rise, going for a morning run, starting studying early in the morning etc. Or maybe with age i am metamorphosing into what i have resisted becoming the most - my father đ
PS- all of this is just rhetoric aimed at myself so don't take it too seriously. If you have seriously plunged into cse , you will find a way, You just need some reassurance.
Superđ
@Fitoren23 Thanks, will join on Monday
@Ghostwalker Thanks bhai.
@D503 Thanks alot. Yes, need to stick to a test schedule. Also, the cliched and general advice is actually true most of the time.

Though I could not clear the prelims this year, being a silent member of this community helped a lot. A special thanks to@LetsGetThisBread. Your posts on the one thing you learnt from your prelims failure thread was so very helpful. ( I'm not able to turn these bold letters off).
Anyway, though it was a little heartbreaking to see the result after all my efforts, I want to give my 100% to 2023. Hoping all you lovely people can guide me with your experience as always.
PS- I want to give a special thanks to this community as a whole. Though I could not clear and have never been an active member, this site has been so good for my mental health, knowing that you're not alone in feeling helpess/hopeless/lazy or any of the countless other feelings and things that you go through on this journey and as a part of the journey of life as well.
So, here's to 2023. Hoping to give it all that I have
Heheh not being able to turn off the bold letters after tagging a person is so relatable đ
Even reddit has the same issue smh

Lets have a productive next year guys :)
I don't know if I should be asking this question here, but no one better than 2023 peeps could advise me better,
Friends, I want to have a dedicated plan for 2023 UPSC, as it will be my final attempt, have given mains before but couldn't qualify for prelims this time.
I don't want to make a plan for myself because I always end up not completing my targets & modifying my plans almost every day.
So, for full-year should I takeiasbaba ilp/tlp plus, orinsights core batch, orforum's mgp with any year long prelims test series & later sfg?
I want an integrated preparation this time for both prelims & mains.
Can anyone help me here?
Awein hi gya aaj. Got up late(at 8 am,when decided to wake up by 6). Started with Topic 8,but got embroiled in deciding ki whether to cover different sectors of Industry(Sugar, Textiles, Electronics vgarah) here or leave for GS 1. Confusion hi confusion. Then what was supposed to be a one class affair in college got enlarged to 3 classes affair with 2 extra classes. Not counting it my list of days.

Hi, i can totally feel you because my rut extended for 2 years. It was difficult to get myself out of it but it is doable. Like you said start small, and create a schedule is literally the way forward.
I realised very early on that physical planners don't do me any good because i cant be bothered to beautify my pages and my handwriting isnât the most journal friendly. So i have a notebook opened on GoodNotes where i type out my daily schedule. This has been there with me for the past two years. Also knowing the macro targets are really helpful as well, what i intend to achieve in one month, the next 6 months etc along with a daily schedule.
Also helps if you figure out why itâs too difficult to stick to a schedule. Is it too much workload? Reduce the number of targets you set for yourself. Is your schedule too tightly packed without any breathing space, which makes you more likely to procrastinate? Schedule a block of time where you intend to do nothing except what you want to do? YouTube distracting you? Put a screen time. The point is, find a workaround for your problems.
There was also a book i read titled âFinish What You Startedâ (ironically which i never finished reading) but one helpful thing it said is to set a bare minimum workload. So find 3 things that you must absolutely do, even if you hate and ensure you do at least that. Its not the same as a fully productive day, but its still better than wasting your day entirely.
Lastly, thereâs nothing like a good old shame spiral to kick your butt into action. I hated the fact that my targets were unachieved and that pushed me to try and finish at least one thing the next day. I kept doing that till the time i got the hang of it. It was a slow and painful process ngl, but entirely doable.
