I guess 2 questions were removed from calculation. Score out of 196 was scaled to 200.

Saying this because decimal digits aren't .33 or .66

But if we calculate 92.51/200*196  which comes out 90.6598    pretty close to what cutoff marks decimal must be. Still 90.66/196 is tooo low.

IT IS A SIGNAL TOFOCUS ON BASIC BOOKS AND STATIC MORE... BECAUSE THERE CAN NOT BE AN AMBIGUITY IN STATIC PORTION...

That is sooo soo on point!! I think we should run for those 65-70 correct questions ( 15 from polity, 15 from economics, 10-15 from history and art and culture, 8-10 from environment 4-7 from geogrpahy and some 5-10 from basic current affairs) - We can't really solve those odd 30, 35 questions jo kahin se bhi aate hai!

Meanwhile I have a bad feeling that Upsc will ask very few questions from polity this time..   These are my nightmare these days..

While we are ready to take an extra run, UPSC is ready for Mankading us...

Yeh bolke, don't make me loose hope!

I think UPSC will not reduce questions in polity- atleast last 10 years se constant hai. Rahega shayad.

My only strong areas are polity and economy.

@Hououin_Kyouma Thanks. Just asked another friend and he's also saying that both, marks and keys should come out within a week.

@sstarrr Like you said, can only focus on static books and hope what's been working continues to work. I'll have to tone down on the guesses incase the answer key throws up something new, but that's why it is the 'Unpredictable' Public Service Commission.

Sigh. Feels scary to even think of changing the strategy this close to the exam.

Yes. I really hate science and now If d option trick fails in exam, I would be more fearful to attempt science and tech in real exam.

B/w what was the cut off for 2019?

This feels like such a bummer this close to the exam. How can it possibly go this low?!

Even if it did, I was comfortably scoring above it as per various keys. Still didn't make the cut. Makes me second guess my capabilities for this exam. The answer key alone would be able to unravel this mystery. Meanwhile, I would keep running the various scenarios that could've played the spoilsport like marking the omr wrong etc. I definitely have no doubt about my csat performance so it's something with GS only.

Yesterday's forum open gave such a boost to my confidence and now, after watching the cutoff it dropped to even below the status quo ante.

Sorry guys just ranting here. Does anyone have any idea when would the answer key be released?

Wrong omr is definitely not the case. There are many people scoring 95-100 not getting through including you and me. Surely there would be many surprises in answer key.

Please don't doubt your strategy now. If you carefully analyse previous 10-15 year questns, you'll find that options are deliberately designed in a way that makes it easier to eliminate. I can guarantee that is not gonna change this year. If you go underconfident in the exam, the battle is half lost there itself. Elimination does work and combine it with static knowledge, you'll score more than needed.

Same here was easily getting more than 95 from various keys. I don't know what happened. It has come as a big shock.

I also have a feeling that since forest services exam are not over, they will not release the key before prelims. Hope I am wrong.

I can only remember Mrunal sir's witty lines here.

Those who attempted Shankarias open Test 1 (19th Sept one) plz help me with these qns...

Q.33) Consider the following statements about ―Laboratory for the Conservation of Endangered Species‖ (LaCONES):

1. It is India‘s only dedicated facility for the conservation of endangered species.

2. It is the only laboratory that has developed methods for the collection and cryopreservation of semen and oocytes from wildlife.

3. It has successfully reproduced endangered Blackbuck, Spotted Deer and Nicobar Pigeons through artificial insemination of cryopreserved sperm. Which of the statements given above are correct? (a) 1 and 2 only (b) 2 and 3 only (c) 1 and 3 only(d) 1, 2 and 3

I eliminated 2 just on the basis of "only lab" (in india is not mentioned). And it is unlikely that Indian institution would be the only one doing this worldwide.Did I justoverthink here? If yes, how to avoid?

Q.37) When a bird lives in the hollow of a tree, which type of biological interaction takes place?

(a) Mutualism (b) Parasitism(c) Commensalism(d) Amensalism

Why not mutualism when birds helps disperse seeds?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q42) Which of the following countries surround the Strait of Malacca?

1. The Indonesian island of Sumatra

2. The Indonesian Island of Java

3. Thailand

4. Malaysia

Select the correct answer using the code given below. (a) 1 and 4 only (b) 1 and 2 only (c) 1, 2 and 4 only(d) 1, 3 and 4 only

Why is Thailand considered a part?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.57) With reference to federalism in India, consider the following statements:

1. The Constitution clearly states that the executive power of the centre is superior to the executive power of the states.

2. States can neither take disciplinary action nor can they remove the All India Service Officers from Service.

Which of the statements given above is/are correct?(a) 1 only(b) 2 only (c) Both 1 and 2 (d) Neither 1 nor 2

Constitution "clearly states"? Yes, presidential rule can be declared if state does not obey. But does it amount to clearly stating?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.58) Consider the following statements: 1. Indian Constitution recognises community-based rights 2. Educational institutions run by religious communities may receive money from the government. 3. Indian constitution looks at religion merely as a private matter concerning the individual. Which of the statements given above is/are correct? (a) 3 only (b)1 and 2 only(c) 1 and 3 only (d) 1, 2 and 3

Art 19 states freedom of conscience etc. Isn't religion a private matter?
