@sushil_21 B is not right, I marked B too out of hurry. But it’s wrong. It nowhere mentions bicameralism. It says elected representatives from constituent units. Even Lok Sabha members are elected representatives are these units. So no B is definitely wrong.

A is also definitely wrong. Palestine is also a state, but it is not independent of external Control (Israel).

aap mix up kar rhe ho iska B hoga , A federalism wale ka hoga XD.

State wala is definitely not A.

And regarding "essential feature that indicates India is federal in character" is definitely A

DD Basu says Federalism has 4 characteristics - 1. Dual government 2. Distribution of powers 3. Supremacy of constitution 4. Authority of courts

There is no mention at all of bicameralism.

@Negan The"best" definition of State is B. It is the most comprehensive amongst all options. Also, it does include sovereignty in it, ergo holding true to the overly-emphasised Montevideo Convention's criteria of a State in almost all coaching institutes' key, which I think is in particular context of international law. I 'd mark it B even I were to attempt the paper today.

@Pam123 State should have Citizens, Government, Sovereignty and Territory! Rest depends on UPSC.

Because Palestine is also a state, but it is not independent of external Control (Israel).
