[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

I don't know whether it makes sense or not, all the exams being pushed for at the moment are either college leaving exams or college entrance exams.

None of the state govt. have gone ahead with recruitment exams. If I am not mistaken, UP PCS mains too got postponed. Similar situation with MP PCS and Odisha PCS. So maybe govt has other priorities in mind at the moment for some reason.

Not drawing any conclusions, just an observation.

Well then Karnataka PSC will be an exception. The prelims is scheduled on 24th August. They are hell bent on conducting prelims on the said date. Released 2 circulars confirming the same. Plus a case in the Karnataka High Court was rejected today. So no hurdles as such for the commission to go ahead with the exams.

I have a proposal for tomorrow. I need  volunteers who knows how to make notes.

Lets take downtoearth fortnightly magazine from June-2019 edition. till this July-2020

Total 14 months (and subsequently 28 fortnight editions). I did a mock run. It took me 2 hrs to read those 60 pages (actually 45 pages sans advertisement per edition),

Each of us should read a month (2editions) and make notes from prelims and mains perspective.

This has overarching benefits in environ and scitech segment of prelims and in GS-3 of mains as well as as somepart of geography (GS-1)

kindly let me know .

Each of us will be spending 5-6 hours , but will be getting a 14 times benefit. That way, by tomorrow 11PM, all of us will have repository of notes on varied topics

Edit1:- I already picked up March-2020 edition

why this silence yaar, till now discussing about everything?? sudden silence

karnataka high court seems like is hand in gloves with these people. kcet rejected because they were too late,..comedk rejected because not too many mails by students..and now this... image and reputation of judiciary has nosedived in eyes of many people

am i the only one one who feels that there is this incremental erosion of the institutional legitimacy of the judiciary. not that it was ever an idealistic body, but  in recent times have seen a different degree of submissiveness on their part.

@Homo Neanderthalensis MP PSC is different - There is a court case pending regarding reservation. There is a stay by High Court so they clearly can't proceed wrt Mains of 2019 exam and won't make sense to conduct any other exam because similar petitions can be made.

They have cancelled the calendar because it already became useless - Results for prelims 2019 were to be declared in Jan-Feb 2020, Mains 2019 was to be conducted in the first part of the year, 2020 prelims in the month of July none of this could happen primarily because of the court case.

Also, MP Board conducted Class 12th exams for the pending papers in the month of June.

About down to earth initiative:-

1) we will start from June-2019 onwards .

2) We will make notes from mains perspective (GS-1 geo, GS-3 Snt, Env)

3) D2E can be found at telegram search "downtoearth11"

4) Geography and you is not freely available. hence we cannot do it.

Good idea, but I haven't made notes for the exam or for other purpose. Just marking on book/highlighting on PDF or copy-pasting of some table/flowchart only! So, not much experienced in making notes.

because previously they were on 13 and 13 is i think neet exam date...that is why they postponed by 1 week.....they didn't even allow candidate to change exam centres...the hub for mpsc is pune and even nagpur students study there who gave their exam centre as pune.....now tough choice for them.... hipocracy chal rahi hai MH govt ki....udhar aditya thakrey ugc ki exam cancel karne ko bol raha hai and here the govt is taking state pcs exams

@sulawesi it is a good idea but the issue is that no one wants to spend tym on mains prep right now(atleast me) since prelims prep isn't finished yet..... otherwise a good initiative...

As soon as NDA admit card was released, I started devoting 1 hour daily for fitness. I may not be the smartest aspirant, but I'll definitely be among the leanest and fittest, strengthening my odds of surviving possible covid infection,(you can't become IAS if you're dead). Play smart, play hard

Keep it up!!! 🔥🔥💪🏼

I am pushing hard too. 😎

Uppcs is conducting BEO exm this sunday where lakhs of aspirants will give the exm.

Uppcs mains 2019 is now frm 24 sept thus covid isn't their concern for shifting it frm aug to sept

Mpsc pre is postponed frm 13 sept to 20 sept bcuz it was clashing with neet exm

Mppsc is stuck with reservation issue in high court thus not taking exm.

@Tejas14it doesnt work like that. Academics work in sessions. agar iss saal nahi hua toh ek saal barbaad ho sakta hai. however recruitments can be pushed to next year. they can fill batches of 2 years with one exam also. esa nahi hoga ki next year recruitment hua toh logon ka ek saal barbaad h jayega in UPSC. next year ka bhi 2020 ke vacancies fill ho sakti hai, like numerous state governments do .

Upsc was not able to cancel Ind eco services exm this yr which has a very small base of aspirants. There's no question of cancelling cse 2020 and merging it with 2021. Moreover there are thousands if not lakhs of aspirants who want the exm to be conducted on schedule

For people who want postponement mail upsc too. Ive mailed the following to upsc. Please take 5 mins and tupe out a mail and send as copy and pasting and sending a mail delegitimises the mail sent.

Mail it to upsc my fellow aspirants

Respected Sirs and Madams,

I am a Civil service aspirant. The world today is facing a unique and deadly pandemic that it has never faced in the modern history of this scale.

This has affected all the people in this world. That includes all upsc aspirants too. These are some problems faced by UPSC aspirants community  in this time of pandemic if the exam is to take place on October 4th.

1.) Many serious aspirants are frontline corona warriors , they are working selflessly to help everyone they could , so if exam is to happen it will affect them as they have no time to prepare. Its unfair to punish them for the service they do.

2.) Corona cases are on raise and death rate is on raise too .
>  According to AIIMS Chief Dr. Randeep Guleria India has  not reached a plateau or peak.
>According to reports 80%  of corona spread is happening due to super spreading events where people are dense and for a long time. This describes our exam situation .
>According to recent research corona has long term effects that lead to lower lung capacity , neurological damage..etc even in recovered patients.

3.) Aspirants come from wide variety of socio economic background. There are many poor and working upsc aspiration who find it hard to give exams even in normal times . Now there is no public transportation in states like Tamil Nadu , no hotels opening , no trains. Also upsc has limited no of centers in every state so its hard or impossible for people to travel . This punishes people from less socio economic background more which is more unfair.

4.) Poor Sop has been followed in exams that took place like KECT . This is largely because the no of people writing exams and also our educational institutions infrastructure is not conducive for social distancing . This leads SOPs ineffective.

5.) Many aspirants are also affected by covid . And some might be infected and writing the exam . Even thermal scanning is not effective as fever is just one of the possible symptoms. This will lead to virus spreading to aspirants.

6.) Many vaccines are in the cusp of coming to the market . As experts predict vaccination will start by jan 2021 for the masses. so postponing exams after jan 2021 would save lots of aspirants life and their family's lives.

There are many personalised reasons for each aspirants too my respected UPSC. It is not a normal time to act normal. Extraordinary times require extraordinary measures . So i Kindly request UPSC to consider postponing exam to 2021.

Thanking you ,

Yours sincerely.
