@ManchesterUnitedwe should be analysing the thngs in a dispassionate way.Supporting or opposing a law or govt action should be based on merit.
Left leaning intellectuals find everything wrong whatever govt is doing, again bhakts find everything that is done is good. However, truth lies in between.
I dont find CAB bad orunconstitutional.Itwould have been better if tamils, shia and Ahmediya etc are also included. However, deficiency does not make it a anti constitutionallaw.Tosupport and provide shelter to minorities persecuted in our neighbourhood is our moral and civlizational duty.Where does hindutva come into the picture? If you have anti RSS/BJP elements in your DNA then stringent traffic rules also can be interpreted as anti-muslims as police is perceived to be anti muslim.Leftists support vehemently for the entry of displaced muslims from arab world, but for other communities persecuted by muslims they are silent.
CAB is in principle good and we should welcome it.There is nothing in the law that violate any provision ofconstitution.HMis gunda or not its immaterial to the issue.if you want to do politics like what our media is doing today its your choice but does not impact the merit of the case.

@tssI deride leftists as I am economically right wing. They'll create an issue just for the sake of it even when there's none.

Having said that, I support secularism, democracy and equality because of which I opposed some recent happenings.

I'll tell you what's wrong with CAB. Our HM goes around and calls illegal migrants as termites. He calls for nationwide NRC to throw out infiltrators. However with that, he's now bringing CAB. That clearly implies only Muslim migrants are termites. Also, persecuted minorities would also include 'Rohingyas' and I don't need to talk about what BJP and its supporters think about them. Our international reputation has taken a hit with the Kashmir issue. This is the last thing I want right now. I feel we are venturing into something we shouldn't with all these so called 'bold steps' when the economy isn't doing well at all.

I am very neutral about all the things happening around!I just questioned the word “goon”.

To my mind CAB is a long overdue n should have been brought soon after partition. You can't have a country for one community who wipe out 25% of the other community from their land, Kashmir and further encroach North East n everywhere.

@kochikaameillegal immigrants should not be allowed in the country.Immigrants should enter lawfully.Nothing wrong in HMs statement.
Muslims have no reason to enter into India.Migrants must have valid reason to enter into india.Muslims cannot come into India illegally from muslim majority countries unless i think few sects which are persecuted.
Every sovereign state has the right to put filters in allowing immigrants.Rohingyas has security issues. Its different matter that they too are muslims.Even bangladesh is also concerned about security implicatons vis a visrohingyas.Itis immaterial what BJP supporters think.
Intetnational media and intellectuals are dominated by left ideaologues.India overwhelmingly enjoyed sopprt from other countreies on Kashmir.Curbing internet and detaintion was required to avoid death. You may have a different opinion. But i dont think there was any other option. Our prestige is intact.Washington post,New York times, bbc and few US congressional Committees statement can not decide a sovereign state's prestige.

@DreadfulActions on CAB+ Kashmir+ Triple Talaq were good. However m not in favor of nationwide NRC. Right now concern should be on improving condition of economy. Nation wide NRC should be implemented later. Illegal migrants r not only economic burden bt also security threats. They commit crime in India and escape to Bangladesh. It becomes nightmare for law enforcement agencies to deal with such people.
Also challenge of radicalisation of these illegal migrants cannot be ruled out. So nation-wide NRC should be implemented bt at a later stage

no, mr. shah can't sue the guy, because the guy did not mention his name explicitly. he only said, 'the most powerful man in the country,' which is subjective. to ambani, he himself might be the most powerful man in the country.

any content, for it being considered defamatory, must fulfil three requirements:

  1. presence of defamatory content
  2. the claimant should be identified in the defamatory content
  3. the defamatory content should be published, so as to make it available to people other than the claimant

point no. 2 doesn't hold here.

@zombielandye mera bhi man ki baat ha..cant agree more.
CAB+KASHMIR+Triple talaq govt did well.
NRC is needed. But nation wide NRC should be conducted in phased manner.Terrorists and sleeper cells are active in India who get moral, material and human support across the border. From Bangladesh radicals come with ease.legal citizens must be identified.

@John_TitorI'm sure you're aware that NRC CAB were in BJP's election manifesto, right? They repeatedly told everyone that if we win, we'll be bringing CAB and NRC. The opposition repeatedly told everyone that if BJP wins they'll be bringing CAB and NRC. Not sure whether the examples of Nehru and Indira that you used fall in the same category(that the policies that they're criticised for were explicitly in their manifesto or was their electoral plank). And the ones who voted for them, their so called constituency, are also citizens of this country who have a right to decide the future of this nation. Now I completely agree with you that democracy is not just about majoritarianism, but what more it is for, is for the people to decide themselves, not you or me. Thats why we have elections, to take decisions that we as individuals cannot.
Also, we all have a right to criticize, condemn and even protest against what we feel is wrong. But that doesn't justify demonizing someone you don't agree with. If BJP listened to me, I'd tell them the same thing, stop demonizing your enemies.
Don't make it an existential crisis, or something which is being forced upon this nation. You don't agree with it, it's okay, and yet there are millions of others who do agree with it. Now you may know better, but I guess that's what freedom means, the freedom to make your own mistakes ( even if I concede that what BJP is doing is a mistake).
