yes, agree. but the thrust of his comment was not to question capability, but to only show similarity of thinking process with the people he named.

If we cannot be magnanimous , at least we can follow our constitution(Right to equality art 14 , secularism, Right to life . Art 51 securing international peace) and international Human rights regime and not discriminated Persecuted immigrants on the basis of religion.

@LightYagamiRead Navtej Singh jauhar vs Union of India, Anwar Ali sarkar vs state of bengal. Then you will get to know what is "reasonable classification", "intelligible differentia" in Article 14. Also listen to RS LS home minister speech to understand the significance of BILL.
THE Hindu newspaper has brainwashed the civil servant aspirants. they can't think beyond few jargons. And tgry think they are so "cool" that read articles/editorials of pratap bhanu mehta and many such others of his tribe.

@duster2019What is the risk of getting penalised in the Mains Exam if one mentions these unpopular views? I think CAB and NRC are needed but don't want to lose marks by antagonizing the examiner.

@Yes_I_am_incontroversy toh abhi bhi nahi honi chahiye.. just few islamists/urban naxals are masquerading as social activists to create an agenda.

I read all of the above, and I know about reasonable classification, The only problem is that CAA is discriminatory and there are strong arguments to show that it is so and the battle will be fought in supreme court and outside as well(protests). So If you dont read the hindu , what do you read? ALso there is nothing cool about not using your reasoning ability or not having empathy to understand why hundreds are in streets protesting this act, including many intellectuals and nobel laurets supporting the aggrieved.

@LightYagamii think constitutional provisions are being fulfilled.

reasonable classification is allowed under right to equality, art 14. and persecuted religious minorities are justifiable reasonable classification, although we'll have to wait for what the sc has to say.

regarding secularism, the provisions in art 25-28 are subject to the provisions of part 3 of the constitution, that is fundamental rights, and again reasonable classification applies to it. it was what indu malhotra said in her dissenting judgement in sabarimala case. that right to equality cannot be the sole benchmark to ascertain whether provisions of art 25 are violated or not.

and regarding international peace, it takes two hands to clap. if nehru failed to stop indo-china war, and thus unable to secure international peace, is he thus to be blamed for violating constitution? if pakistan were to attack us because the recent move in kashmir, would you say that we shouldn't have taken that move because it doesn't secure international peace? we do what we have to do within constitutional limits.

@LightYagamithis bill will pass SC scrutiny as smoothly as article 370, 35a revocation, ayodhya review petition, triple talaq legislation etc. This bill is not discriminatory at all. On the other hand, Bill is inclusive as it provides citizenship to persecuted minorities.

for bills, always refer to PRS or LS RS debates. I read Indian Express. But I skip editorials written by toxic and cynical people like pratap bhanu mehta, yogendra yadav, sagarika ghise, P chidambaram. They don't give any facts and write pure Mann ki baat

Hi.. thoda mainstream discussion se alag hai mera post..I need help in planning my studies. I have been preparing for 3 years now, and haven't been able to clear prelims ever. I get good-decent marks in prelims test series(i did vision twice, n this time Insights). I dont perform well in the exam. This time i solved many questions well n do stupidity in few questions n missed cutoff by slim margin.

Can someone tell me how do I improve?Where am I going wrong? I dont remember exact tribal movement in history type things accurately all the year-prepare those up before exam, but am pretty much good in other stuff. Conceptual-ncerts etc. I prepare cuurent from visionias monthlies.
Haven't practiced Answer writing much. Had always been considered intelligent as student and employee(ex), with good analytical skills. And now I am screwing up my life..

How to improve?? Plz help??

@King_of_the_deadsaid inMains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread:

@ManchesterUnitedi dont know whether you have been following news or not bro. But CAB and NRC are not different in reality. NRC will follow CAB. That is the plan. And it will happen.
This is planned meticulously and will be executed with surgical precision to disenfranchise as many muslims as possible.
Step 1. CAA ( or CAB) will legalise all existing non Muslims whether Indian citizens or otherwise. As the act specifically targets muslims, singling it out.
Step 2. NRC will used to purge this country of the Muslim population. It is explicit. Nothing insidious. Even when there was spelling mistakes, minor one letter errors, people were disenfranchised in assam. Plus I think the govt will make the cutoff date for documentary proof as somewhere around 1952 the argument being migration had virtually stopped by that time in the rest of India. ( don't say citizenship act gives citizenship to everyone born in India before 1 July 1987 as many born before that date were excluded from Assam NRC. In any case proof of birth is tricky as institutional deliveries were rare and people didn't study or vote. So documentation problems but only for Muslims)
Step 3. NRC is an exercise only for muslims. In absence of documents the non Muslims are anyway to be treated as refugees or whatever and legalised through step 1. Anyway NRC is inconsequential as far as the non Muslims are concerned. They are either citizens or refugees.
Step 0. Any espousal of Muslims interest is inherently anti national as per the current scenario. There are fears being expressed for 3.5 crore people of assam. The concerns of 18 crore muslims are non issue. They are surviving on Indian hindu largesse I think. It is expressed that the Muslims show gratitude for the magnanimity displayed by hindus (by not killing Muslims?)In any way any concern expressed by them is non issue.
People were rejoicing when art 370 was removed. Now manipur as a whole is being brought under ILP. No concern expressed by here even though this step has raised barriers and boundaries within the country. People rejoiced only because kashmir had muslim population.
This communalism is not new. Earlier people were a bit shy to display it in public and now that constraint is broken.
Note: 1. CAB is not bad per se . We cannot help all but we can choose whom we can help. Any help extended to anyone is fine. However CAB + NRC presents existential crisis to Muslims and Muslims alone.
Note 2. Don't assume that Indian people vote based on manifesto. You must be kidding if you say so. No Indian has ever voted based on manifesto. You cannot yourself name 10 agenda points which would be implemented if BJP is voted to power. common people were United in their hatred for Muslims. I also live in UP. And didn't embark on a mission to find black Swan. (Implicit generalization)
Note 3. There I wrote as clearly as I understand. And I haven't shied away from using "Muslims" or one community.

this is something i said a while back

@TheOptimistI have one suggestion for you regarding answer writing practice. I qualified prelims this time after 2 failures and just like you did not have any answer writing practice. There are quite a few topics which are exclusive to mains exam and I had no idea about these. I had built up so much pressure that I gave up studying atleast 10 days before the mains exam started. So, please cover some mains exclusive topics and do answer writing practice for a few months. Without these, even if you qualify prelims there is a high probability that you are going succumb under pressure and fail to break out of the notorious UPSC exam cycle. This is just my view.

@LightYagamiNo need to be Mother Theresa here!
Government of India has every right to allow or disallow any community depending on its reasons!
Art 14,15 or 1 billion!None of it is violated in the process!Go watch Harish Salve’s explaination!
Like it or not we are Hindu majority country and Sikh,Buddhist,Jains are culturally affiliated to this land and granting asylum and citizenship to them is correct in every respect!
Even if Muslims of someother countries want citizenship they can avail that via normal procedures of naturalisation!
Citizenship Act originally doesn’t even allow anyone to migrate but now it is being relaxed to allow persecuted minorities of these Islamic nations!

@LightYagami
Brother, one thing that I have learned recently is not to determine a cause/reason behind a protest solely on the basis of number of protesters involved.
On YouTube a few days ago,I saw a video of a 10 year old boy throwing stones at a rail coach while protesting against CAB. The fuck would he be knowing about citizenship and things related.

Also, there was a guy who went to various protest movements like against SPG withdrawal and against the Rafale deal and interviewed some of the protesters involved. People protesting against SPG withdrawal did not knew the full form of SPG. In case of Rafale, for the protesters the country of origin of Rafale was Germany/Russia.
The weather of NCT is pleasing nowadays. If one wants to enjoy tea/breadpakora/samosa or even jaljeera for free, joining some protest is one good way to do so.
P.S.-I’ll not comment on the CAB but police actions against the protesting students like Jamia,JNU,AMU is non-justifiable,arbitrary and cruel for me.
