Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.
@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?
This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.
Reading news paper is out dated.. I think it is just basics they ask from Current affairs . Like Tiger Reserve question, elephant from kerala case , Cyclone etc.
Yes. I feel that I saw around 10 question from the PT365 I read. And it may not have been direct but atleast it helped me eliminate the incorrect options.Just a thought.
It is not fair to discount the importance of monthly CA magazines. Questions may/may not be directly asked from the compilation but it helps you gather and read about issues succinctly. It's easy to discredit it due to the nature of the paper. But there's a long road ahead of Mains and Interview. And UPSC is never about - Maine yaha se padha yahi se question aaye. It's about what you read and internalize.
Having said that, It's always been advised that CA compilations should be used as a supplement and in no manner should be a substitute to the newspapers that we read.
As far as 2020 is concerned, atleast the paper was not ambiguous. UPSC is notorious to set such close options that the next 2 months would be wasted wondering ki c hoga ya d.
There is no set pattern, there is no one best way of Taylor. Get the basics right, trust the wisdom of few, and leave the rest to fate. We cannot know everything under the sun
Got revised key of Civilswrite with explanations from my friend.

Yes. I mean the best thing is to prepare current affairs ourselves using Newspapers magazines etc but since most of us don't do that, the next best thing is to go through coaching compilations. And the news for UPSC and the news for Vision aren't different. They both pick up from the same sources. Vision may miss a few things but that should be taken into account. I still feel that even after such a random paper, these compilations are necessary. That is what I am damn saying to people... But .. who cares. Also as your name suggests... I have this book of him and also read it many times.
I see some people are rubbing it into other's wounds here. I mean questions like "obc, 106..what are my chances"... Dude.. You know clearly that you will be writing mains. Stop with this "what are my chances thing"... Be a little more sensitive. We have built a community that revels in each other's joys and stands up for each other when someone feels down. But this kind of attitude is plain sad. You are happy. Get on with it. Go and start answer writing. That's the main thing.
Am sorry for this rant. But understand that only 1-2% are sure about their chances. Most are disappointed. Some are sad. Most are praying for miracle (myself included). Couple of my friends broke down on my shoulders this morning. I wept with them too.
So if nothing else, Be a little more sensitive.
I am not clearing the prelims this year but even if I top someday, I won't be proud of myself. UPSC has lost all respect of being the most coveted exam and test of intelligence. All it checks is ones guessing skills and that too not intelligent guessing but random chance.
It's applicable for this year for sure.
@Howzthejosh can u post the link to this?
