Everyone who wrote mains this time I would really like to know what worked for you guys this time in prelims?

Considering the kind of unexpected paper that it was this time, still people were able to get such good marks in prelims and able to clear it, I would really like to know what worked for you and what was your 'strategy' ?

I already answered this in the prelims mistakes wala thread. Do check it out if you feel like it :)

You probably missed prelims by v close…I know you had a sound prep. Don’t doubt it. Just keep doing the needful (one ca source and basics) and you’ll be through this time. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of luck and more people should realise that.

100% agree with this. So much of the selection just boils down to luck and the random number of uncontrollable that come into play. Even the most stupid things like is it too hot that day, does your desk make too much noise all  add up in the end.

Wo parody h 😂😂😂. Yes entertaining, but looking for 'real' horror right now

The Quiet Place was good. Both parts. Although it’s more thriller than horror.

Even better combo this , Thriller+ horror

You can try Don't Breathe

Covid k season m ye sab suggest na karo yr 😂

Watch Secret Life of Walter Mitty everyone, plssss.

Or monsoon wedding!

No other movies can be so uplifting.

Yr uplifting toh thik h but kuch horror m bhi suggest kro please if u can. 😱😱

Like upsc aspirants ki life me anyway horror ki koi shortage hai kya? 😂😂

Shortage toh comedy nd tragedy ki bhi nhi h 😂😅

I know this is a wrong thread to post a song but here's a recent gem for all the warriors who wrote Mains. This one talks about going easy on things at times.

One of the lines say "jo hai tera labh jayega kar ke koi bahaana, tere bass mei kuj vi nahi hai dil nu eh samjhavan..."

You've done it all. Now just sit back and have some quality me time, you sweet peepul.

Hey guys, I am thinking to join the MGP Cohort 8. I have asked some of you here about it. I would like to know others opinion too. Was there anyone who joined before prelims? How was it? Even if not, what do you guys think?

Your perception of me is reflection of you, my reaction to you is my awareness.

Started with how British perceived East and its reaction being looting.

Yet, Gandhi's perception was not of enemy but hating only evil.  His reaction being noble satyagraha.

Similarly, neocolonial adventures in Iraq, but people here presumed them as enemy and beginning of emergence of ISIS as reaction.

Then, tried to show crux how 3 diff people having diff perceptions and reactions reflecting their own self.

Then, gave Mahabharata example. How Ram went to a Nishada Kingdom and being tribal also king did not perceive Rama as outsiders are thought of but also helped Rama cross river.

Then, tried dividing in perception and reaction separately.

Perception:

Social: raja ram mohan roy perceived women's dignity fighting against sati

Eco: how vijay mallya perceived - leading to frauds but Narayan Murthy - compassionate capitalism

Reaction:

Social: how Kailash Satyarthi's mission to change children's life versus seeing children as instruments of lust ( unano case)

Eco: diff reaction to poverty: rag to riches - dirubhai ambani , on the other hand many poor become lured to crime.

Wrote few other dimensions. Not able to recall now.

Then, antithesis:

how perception is not always true reflection: as social media influence etc

how reaction does not always true awareness: corporate pressures of this century, people react as they themselves would not have wanted.

Then, Immanuel kant - need to see each individual as end in himself

And, conclusion paras on emotional intelligence training needed: from school to offices leading to better versions of ourselves so that we perceive and react in a better manner.

Hey fellas, needed some help.

I want to fill gaps in my GS preparation for mains. Paper 1 to paper 3. Like trying to have small notes on all topics with updated data and all kinds of info. What will be the ideal way forward? Please also suggest sources for the same.

Whew, I missed a lot in 2 days. But guys, I have a question. I have a 1.5 year gap now after graduation (I know it's likely most of us do) but while I wait on the mains result I think I need to find a job. The initial plan had been a bit different, but I don't think my current circumstances will let me go on for too long with only UPSC.

So everyone who got out of the rut and is now preparing for UPSC on the side while also doing something else, what do you do? What exams did you take? Did you get back to the corporate sector, and how do you justify nothing on your resume for a few years? Also is anyone doing higher studies?

I'm a bit clueless on this front, any help would be great

I wanna ask u guys regarding exam condition this time around... My centre was in mumbai and in my room about 24 candidates were there, of them about 4-5 had constant cough. On the last day it was quite funny as most of them were coughing which seemed co ordinated.

Anyways, since after the day of exam I fell ill and with symptoms mostly similar to omicron i dint get tested assuming I was in a hotspot and likely to contract it. Been confined to bed with no breathing difficulty but fever and body ache. Is anyone out there in a similar situation?

@RaGa Was it the Sion centre?

@sstarrr Hill House is unmatched by any of its succeeding seasons. Coincidently had watched when there had been a loss in my family, so could relate to it a lot more.

@Freud Yes Sion centre , i was in room 32 and 33 for language

@RaGa I was in the same centre. 33,18, 25 . Funnily I started feeling a bit down and tired since 14th Jan. Then got mild cough. Followed by a mildest cold.

On the optional paper, I legit had to ask my neighbour to blow his nose after paper 1 since after every 30 seconds the poor guy was making funny sounds.

So, the same symptoms persist but apart from feeling super tired and sleepy all the time, I am able to walk, run etc. So not sure what is it. In fact, my mom has been staying with me throughout, and given omicron's notoriety about R, it's likely she would have caught it too. She has not expressed any symptoms.
