SOLUTIONS TO DAILY CSAT MISSION # 36

1.(C) 2. (D) 3. (A) 4. (C) 5. (D)

Explanations
First of all, “V works only with T in Shift C“. So, Shift C is V and T only.
S works in Shift A“.
R works in Shift B“. “Q does not work in the same shift with R“. So, Q works in Shift A.
P does not work in the same shift with Q“. So, P is in Shift B. And, since “P does not work in the same shift with W” as well, W is in Shift A.

The final list is:
Shift A: Q, S, W
Shift B: P, R
Shift C: T, V

Now, to find out which day is whose day off, it is preferable to draw a table and keep crossing out names:
Capture

“P’s day off is Tuesday”. This means no other person has day-off on Tuesday (cross remaining people for Tuesday) and P does not have day-off on any other day (cross P on other days):
Capture

Similarly, “S has day off on Sunday”. So, cross out S from all other days, and cross all other people from Sunday:
Capture

“No one from Shift A has day-off on Wednesday or Friday”. So, cross off Wednesday and Friday from Q, S and W. “T’s day off is not on Wednesday”. Cross Wednesday and T. “W’s day off is not on the previous day of P’s day off”. Cross out W and Monday. The table has become:

Capture

Now, “V’s day off is immediate next day of that of R’s day off”. But since Tuesday is P’s day off (and not R’s), Wednesday cannot be V’s day off. So, cross out Wednesday and V. For Wednesday, only R is then left, which means R’s day off is Wednesday:

Capture

Cross off R from the other days apart from Wednesday. “V’s day off is immediate next day of that of R’s day off”. So, V’s day off is Thursday. Cross out V from other days, and other people from Thursday.

Capture

W has only Saturday left. So, W’s day off is Saturday. Cross off other people from Saturday. On Friday, only T is left. So, T’s day off is Friday. Cross off T from other days. After that, on Monday only Q is left. So, Q’s day off is Monday. The final table is:

Capture

The first Question : 8th from the Top and 37th from the Bottom. This can be solved by assuming that there are 5 people in a class

1 2 3 4 5 = Now No. 2 is second from top and 4rth from last . Sum of 4+2 = 6 , but there are only five numbers. So if we add top position and bottom position ( or position from last ) ans subtract one then we get total number

    In question , total number of candidates is :- 8+37 = 45 and the minus 1 = 44 students.Hence D
