@Shailputri not to be pessimistic in approach but hard work and vardaan of atleast 6 attempts to everyone.. so lets grind it jab tak hai jaan ...jab tak hai jaan

Seemingly easy, but still tough. I paid for poor revision of science and technology. Scored 81.33.

What should be a good score in this test? How much are you scoring@Shailputri?

And those who are asking for another good mock, I would recommend shankar's last open. There's one today too but I am yet to write it. But the last one was decent enough but lots of 50-50 questions.

This paper was rather closer to what we can expect from UPSC in the actual exam. Fairly well-framed questions and decent difficulty level as well.

I agree. Had a higher complexity than the previous test which can perhaps help us attune ourselves to the unpredictability of the real exam.

I think right now the practice of leaving questions and elimination is most important because eventually, we will have to face it in exam no matter how much we mug up facts.

I agree. We don't find enough good mocks so I'm happy that we had one such mock. Do let me know in case you find other good quality mocks :)

the 4 simulators of batch 2 were also good in my opinion, but slightly on the difficult side. However, one can practice elimination and leaving in such papers.

Can we share our marks in this test to gauge our performance? I scored around 103.

123.3 I was actually expecting around 105-110, hope i have not ran out of my luck before exam :P

Suggestion(personal opinion, people may differ), at this point of time taking too much open mock is also not a very good idea. Take 1 or 2 or maybe at max 3 test,  to gauge your overall performance. so that in the give short period of time, you can improve. Rather solving PYQ is always a secured idea and better idea.

@Archand shankar ias mock test 1 was good. it was conducted on 19th sep and 2nd one is today..you can check that in download section of shankar portal. i found paper well crafted and elimination technique could be used well in that.

Thanks a lot!

Will check both Shankar and OpenIAS.

Also,@Voyager will highly recommend not to attempt any Insights test. Questions will be binary and arbitrary. Tests like Insights this close to the exam can unnecessarily demoralise us.

I wonder what has happened to insights and vision. They seem to have completely lost track of the pattern. They are fixating on the 12 random questions that upsc asks out of a 100 and replicating them to a level of 60/100.
Back when I started preparing they used to be the benchmark indicator of preparation. But now they should be the last ones anyone should be attempting especially this near to the exam.

Oh yes. I have given two of them, really good questions. Saving the other two for the next week!

+1

if anyone is looking to solve mocks now it should be to condition their brain only for the exam and the way they will have to deal with weird questions.

People commenting whether it was easier or tougher than the previous test,
Me, who got same marks(~88) in both-  ^_^

On a serious not can 88 be considered a good and safe score considering mocks are designed differently than actual UPSC papers?

Precisely. Last year I would get really affected because of the scores in Insights, Vision. This time, I just gave a couple of mocks to see if they have improved and then shifted to better tests.

Will take a couple of years for the trend to change.

Hey guys, how are you all scoring in Simulators this time around? The 8 which are in the market are the ones I’m referring to.

I scored in 90s in most of them, once maybe in 100s and once or twice in 80s too.
But if you want an authentic scale so here is the cut-offs declared by forum on those tests-

@chikuiasbano @chamomile Yaar I am really too insignificant to give a good score for this test. Static questions were in good number. So as long as one is getting them right, they r good to go. My static qns were wrong...even while attempting them I was getting confused.

Thanks for the update on shankar and onlyias mocks. I have only attempted Forum qns so far. Time to test other mocks!
