Hello 2021 aspirants. I thought it would be nice if we can share what we are doing and intend to do with one another here.
This could be a thread for discussing everything prep for 2021.
No one method fits all but to see the plans and progress made by fellow aspirants might help with the finer details of preparation and also keep one on track.

I have heard people complain that UPSC aspirants "Glorify" their preparation, the exaggerate whatever they go through.
Well maybe its true. But let me share what I feel these days, which I am sure a lot of us go through the same.
Waking up everyday crossing one more day off of the Calendar.. Then looking at the things still left to do.. Day starts amazing.. Then comes the evening, when you know this day is almost over and you are one more day closer to the D day.
And then it all starts, "Where could I have not *wasted* my time today?" "Should I have taken 15 minutes lesser to eat Lunch?" "Should I skip my evening walks from tomorrow?" "Do I remember anything I studied today?"
and then it gets worse
"I have two strong areas, What If no question comes from these subjects?" "What If I am unable to sleep the night before the exam?" "What If I fill my roll number wrong?" " My friend X is so intelligent and yet the friend could not clear prelims twice.. I have studied wayyyyy less than them... If they could not do it, how can I do it???""
And just like that tears roll down from the ears.. A sudden numbness takes over... You are looking at your notes but not really looking at them.. Mom asks you something and you say "Hmm".. You can not study anything now.. So you cry/sulk yourself to bed.. hoping that tomorrow will be better...
And just like that you wake up to another day.. crossing one more day in your calendar.. inching closer yet.. to the D Day..
Had a marathon session today. Finished polity static + CA.
@LetsGetThisBread and @sjerngal , thank you for sharing this.
“Your soul needs more than a gold medal to be fulfilled.”
Gave the GS Mock, finally finished Environment (almost!) and revised government initiatives in related spheres.
Targets:
- Polity Revision (1/3)
- Mapping
- Finish the remaining bits & pieces
Did everything as mentioned above but I know that it was a low productivity day. A lot of what @sjerngal mentioned seems relatable to how today has been.
Targets:
- Polity Revision (2/3)
- Mock Test
- Mapping

Notes makes things so easy!!! Glad I am having notes on all of these, warna for people like me who have only pictorial memory, things would have got messy during exam!
Okay Since no reply came again asking , how to cover government schemes (I have done vision temporary document that they gave , not done comprehensive 1 and 2 )
Focus on the very important schemes.. and do them properly.. I think at this point we all know which are the important schemes and which are not. Look at schemes that were mentioned in Budget.
There is not much time left.. If I was in your place I would not worry about random schemes here and there. ... I am personally just doing those few odd schemes and if anything comes other than that, then it would be my "kismat".. Although , I firmly believe that UPSC does not ask random schemes and will definitely give us some hints to solve questions like those.
Vision and other documents should have made our job easier, but rather they make it even more difficult by giving 200 pages worth of government schemes.
Thankyou@balwintejas @the_initiated @Freakhoto and all the lovely people of this community. I feel good today. Also I largely agree with what@sjerngal said. The purpose for using YPT at that time was to enhance my sitting capacity (which improved) and to find out what is my sustainable hour count on daily basis which I found is 7-8 hours (1 more hour should be added during these days). It’s not even like I get intimidated by how many hours others are studying, I feel turning on a timer is a cumbersome task for now tbh I mean like what neyawn has said earlier that we should study whenever and wherever we get time in this last leg of prep. There shouldn’t be any definite slots.
So what i am thinking is not to use YPT for a couple of days and gauge my productivity level.
Targets for today would largely be-
Finish economy ( except schemes, budget, ES)
S&T (1/2)
CSAT
PYQ.
@EiChan I have earlier answered to this query. I am doing vision document only. I don’t read govt schemes as a separate document rather i do it along with the subject, with the topic I am doing. Like if I did infra yesterday I know schemes related to infra hold much more importance so I will cover all the related ministries like road, railways, shipping etc. In this way I am able to cover each and every scheme given in the document without even bothering about how bulky the document is.
Thanks@sjerngal . I am sorry@Infinitybeyondinfinity , somehow i did not get notification in that bell icon symbol , Thanks for helping
Hello friends. Which tests are you all planning to give in next 10 days? I want to give 3-4 relatively easier tests to sustain my confidence and then will switch to solved PYQs. Also, people who were in SFG and wrote a good number of tests, till when will you write mocks?
Thank you.
I will give two simulators of forum.
I gave Vajiram full length test a few days back. It was decent.
I will give Shankar IAs test ..
If time permits I will give one test of Insights.. I am so done with Vision that I don't even want to look at it.
I am solving UPSC Pyqs side by side- done with three subjects..
Also, I am planning not to give any full length mocks after 4th October.
@sjerngal Thanks. 2 more questions1. Did you revise the notes you made for prelims 2020 as well?2. How did you cover the CA for these last 3-4 months (April 2021 onwards)
1.Yes, I have revised the newspaper notes I made for prelims 2020 also but mainly from May 2020 onwards.
2.I had read CA magazines till June 2021. And for july and august, I am focussing only on the newspaper notes that I had made while reading the newspaper and from daily news analysis.. I tried to read July CA magazine, but It gave me anxiety because I was picking up something new at this moment. So, I left it..
Today's Target -
August CA
History OneNote
Modern history to be completed
geography countries mapping
Enviro to be started if time permits
@Steph_Curry I will write only pyqs and few open mocks. I am not giving more than 10-15 FLTs this year.
Giving sfg level 2 tests again mainly for subject revision . Not sure if I'll be able to do all but will try.
