CSE 2022: Plan/ Strategy/ Daily Routine

This is an everything thread for all stuff 2022. You can post your daily goals, end-of-the-day updates, weekly targets or any weird thing you use to measure your progress. You can put into words & post the soul-sucking sadness that is threatening to devour you & your productivity. You can write what made your day & let others experience the happiness too, at least vicariously. This is a thread to pick each other up. This is a thread to keep each other accountable. This is a no-judgement zone.

--------

“This is one more piece of advice I have for you: don't get impatient. Even if things are so tangled up you can't do anything, don't get desperate or blow a fuse and start yanking on one particular thread before it's ready to come undone. You have to realize it's going to be a long process and that you'll work on things slowly, one at a time.”

— Haruki Murakami, Norwegian Wood

Guys TELL ME THE BEST PYQP compilations with solutions for CSE PRELIMS?

Depends on your needs.

If you are looking for micro topic wise segregated questions, La Ex compilations are good. They're freely available online/on telegram. Only problem is accuracy of the key in some questions.

For practice, ALS Wizard is good (as@DM mentioned). I only have the hard copy though, there's no pdf available afaik.

Baaki Disha compilation is also good. You can find their pdf online as well.

@Kingslayer123 Thankyou for your appreciation. We all know that once we get in this cycle, it will take toll on us. I just want to make sure that I give everything and keep going till i exhaust my final attempt. Clear or not, just so that I can focus on my upcoming endavours without having this exam in the back of my mind.

Today

1) CA(mcqs, monthy revision, n/w)

2) mock revision

3) economics revision

@Celeborn & @KingSlayer23 You people inspire!

Couldn't write mains but still reading all the experiences of pain made me sad. But you guys made my morning:)

Also@Celeborn can you please throw some light on what helped you clear prelims all three times?

Thank you for your kind words! It helps :)

About prelims, I'm usually hesitant to share any overarching strategy, since there's some amount of luck always involved. Among the controllable factors, what worked for me is (a) strong command over static (except history) (b) good mcq solving skills/elimination skills/guesswork (c) ability to remain calm and think clearly in the exam hall. Beyond this, I'm sceptical about giving any generic advice, since a lot varies from person to person.

Baaki if there are any specific doubts, I'm always free to help out.

Hehe no need to thank, been there.

Even I agree with the words you said n also know that there is no magic mantra for any of the stages of this exam. But when we hear from the one who has been in the game, it kinda gives an assurance that what am doing is right.

Thanks Man :)

Hey I too agree with@Lawstice. We(you and me) had a conversation earlier and I must say your clarity of thoughts is admirable. You helped me alot in aligning my preparation for prelims. I really wished you cleared.

But nonetheless you will eventually. More power to you😊

ATB!

Not a good day. Was not able to focus on studies as much, very rare it has happened in past couple of months.

Reviewing now - 1/5 of 2A done with looking at some topper copies. Meditation missed

Targets for March 20 (day 21)

1. Meditation 2x

2. PSIR 2A (1/2), Topper copies.

Expecting tomorrow a good day, may God bestow the blessing on all of us !

Not a good day, and i am sure more such days are awaiting. Ajeeb si mohabbat ki hai upsc ne mere saath, kabhi khushi kabhi gham.

But today was special for some other reasons. Today marked the 21st day of promise made to self regarding posting here and reviewing them without a break. I will continue this exercise, but won’t promise it this time. Promises should not be made on little casual things, let the words uttered weigh significant trust and faith.

Reviewing now - saw some topper copies of PSIR ; meditation missed.

Targets for March 21 (day 22)

1. Meditation 2x

2. PSIR - good copies, 2A

This was not a good week. Expecting a V shaped recovery in subsequent days.

I have always been a fan of war stories, stories of utmost grit and perseverance, of friendships, of love, life and death. Having it all and staking it on one turn of pitch and toss. Maybe it began when I read War and peace years ago and got fascinated with Bezukhov or maybe it was watching 300 as a child. The one thing common to all wars(stories) is that you enter with passion and a sense of purpose to acclaim victory and fame at all cost, but in the midst of it all, you realise that passion is over-rated and will not sail you through and that tales of immortality interest you the least and fame was never worth it anyway. We learn that to just survive we will have to push with every ounce of energy we have and keep at it again and again even though sleep and rest beckons with all its lustrous might and then hope that Lady Luck favour us brave and plummets us to the end of the tunnel.  (The tale of Mara Vijaya brings a smile). The reason I am typing all of this is because being in the state( not mental, just geographical) of Buddha away from preparation hubs and isolated in a room, this war has got to me. With my friends and batchmates partying and moving on in life, I ask myself to soldier on towards my path, my own battle.  Please know that seeing you all post targets is the Sam to my Frodo. (Reference- LOTR). It makes me feel that I am not the only one walking in these dark alleys of Mount Doom. May we be victorious soon.

"Lambi hai gham ki shaam faiz, magar shaam hi to hai."

P.S- This is more of a note to self than to others, I don't know why I am posting it, maybe the war has really got to me. Keep hustling guys.
