Guys , alert need help: can you suggest me source for economy complete pre and mains with contemporary and current affairs ( iam a beginner ) apart from ramesh singh ??? Thanks in advance@SergioRamos @AzadHindFauz @whatonly @Villanelle @Patootie @nerdfighter @peterparker

I did economy from Mrunal Sir's course. Found it to be quite helpful.

But I didnt pay for Unacademy Plus.. got a one year subscription in 2019 due to my test series. You can find his notes on telegram. Don't know if the lectures are also available.

I used Ramesh Singh for static and vision material (montlies/365) for current affairs. Watched a few videos to clarify concepts I didn't understand from these sources.

By "apart from Ramesh Singh" did you mean you don't want to do that book, or that you're doing it and wanted other sources to add to it?

@THE_MECHANIC I know you didnt ask me. But I would still like to give my two cents.
I never read Ramesh singh or any other books that are recommended in market. I believe they might help you in prelims, but would not help you much.
I would recommend MISHRA and PURI book on Indian Economy. I heard that this book is also used in DU and since many professors and DU and like colleges set the paper, it would really help.
I have read the book 3 times and it is my favorite book .
However, i would really like to give a disclaimer that the book has over 700 + pages, so you might find it bulky. However, each page is worth it and since we have time right now, selective reading of that might help you in mains.
It really helped me understanding all the articles related to economy that come in the hindu. I had a really weak base in economy portion and now i can safely say that it is one of my strong areas.

P.S: You may also go through Sanjiv verma which is a much smaller book.

for Ramesh Singh I have seen that many critiques of it said like bit bulky, many unnecessary things in it, so got confused it will we good or not ?? did you make static ( mains notes out of ramesh singh ) ??

That was the first book I picked and never got a chance to switch to another source, so I don't know how it compares to others. If you find something else that works better for you then great!

Bulky toh it is, and has unnecessary chapters too, but i found it good for understanding the concepts when used selectively. I think with economy more than any other subject, the trick is to understand it really really well. That will definitely help solve prelims questions (which are getting more analytical too) as well as mains questions, where you can come up with many points if you've understood how something works.

I made super short notes out of it, on postits, and I would revise them a lot before prelims. Didn't have to revise much for mains. That book looks bulky but if you use your highlighter well it can be quite easy to revise.

But as I said, I haven't done any other book, so pick what works for you :)

theories about music reminds me of a time when i was a TOOL fan. God what a crazy fan base they had/have with people finding fibbonacci and waht not in their song structures, like the songs were not simple songs but parables for some deep hidden wisdom, and fans came up with mind boggling theories while decoding their songs.

Adds another dimension to fan-musician interactions, I suppose. The whole idea of social groupings and interactions in general is to find people who share similar views to you and find concurrence in opinions. It becomes the basis for building affection, or so psychology says.

@DeekshitaP Yikes,never thought I would see someone defend BTS on here, well you know you learn everyday.
I am not truly looking for literature in my music, just something which sounds genuine. Anyway fun songs should atleast be fun right. Okay maybe am not allowed to comment on manufacturing of things, but they Army or whatever stream things 24  hours even when sleeping, to give them to views, it's just comical and defeats the whole purpose.

Who all here would NOT be joining AWFG?

Me. As good as it sounds, it’s quite intense. I generally like having flexible schedules that I can tweak depe on personal variables.

Same. I am the kind of person who is quick on quitting when things doesn't work out exactly the way I planned. And when someone else sets the timetable, its so much more likely.

AWFG is a great thing. But for me, at this point, I already have so much backlog to clear. Can't be enamored by shiny new things every time something appears in the market. So, practicing self control here.

I tend to stress when I cannot fit answer writing to my revision schedule. I’m the kind to have a very fixed idea about portions and what needs to be done (even though it probably sounds draconian and rigid of me), my control-freak self could never get with this plan.

@THE_MECHANIC  this is what I referred for economics as well. In my opinion, reading Mishra Puri and Ramesh Singh can be too overwhelming. Keep your sources for economics narrow, just need to clear the concepts at which Sriram's notes + ncert would ne sufficient.

For contemporary topics in mains, you'll have the idea what topics to prepare. This can be done from mains365 and basic google.

For instance, disinvestment can be done from google itself. Pros, cons, way ahead. All these should be done when you're done with static portion and you need to consolidate your final notes for mains. Complement with some topper's notes to check whether you haven't missed anything important.

PS- I did GS coaching so that may create some difference but most of the portion of GS I did it myself including economics

Haha, I never expected to reveal on this platform that I’m ARMY either (so we each learn something everyday i suppose). What is genuine about music varies from person to person. Tbh I’m not a huge fan of kpop in general because of how manufactured the whole industry seemed, but I found BTS genuine because their lyrics were meaningful. So I suppose this just goes to illustrate the point further.

as far as streaming goes, it is part and parcel of kpop. Not just ARMY, Blinks, Stays, exols, shawols, you name a fandom they all stream. BTS gets the views because of the sheer numbers that ARMY tends to pull (the whole Grammy livestream fiasco was evidence of it). So to single out ARMY would be unfair. I agree that streaming isn’t the best way to promote a group (and I’m saying this in spite of the fact that i too streamed a little). However, this argument has a flip side as well. Streaming is the only way, kpop and other Asian artists get taken seriously in the western music scene. Viral success is the only way Asian artists get taken seriously, and even then they are seen as a passing phase (case in point, Psy’s Gangnam Style- which is a satirical masterpiece IMO). Streaming, becomes the only way to counter the elite Academy bias. So streaming becomes a necessary evil

Vikram grewal’s essay are good. I also googled some topper’s copies by vision (I don’t remember which ones) but they gave me a rough framework to work with. I also used the insights weekly essay initiative quite religiously and would trawl through the comments sections to get some idea of where I stand, but I wouldn’t take it too seriously because some of those essays are pathetic at best, though you might find some hidden gems.
