@SergioRamos I didn't go beyond rank 20 as I tried to restrict my time for this activity to only 1.5-2 hours. I was contemplating whether to give further attempts or not, so decided to have some hard facts rather than inherent biasness towards this exam.

It sure is a mental boost for senior players(read 2+ attempts).

@Steph_Curry Epson L130, Cost: Rs 7.5 K. I have been using it since a year now, no issues. Decent print speed also colour print could be taken. Ink bottle costs around Rs 300-400, I only refilled once black ink so far. It's very cost effective.

I need an advice . I am thinking of dropping upsc ( have given two failed Prelims attempt) and start preparing for UPPSC wholeheartedly. I am not much confident at upsc and going through discussions here I am feeling I will not be able to match standard of upsc. I am 22 now to be 23 in a month. So parental pressure of taking a job/ service is huge being from a rural background of up.  Will it be a wide decision? And can uppcs be cracked with good rank if I prepare wholeheartedly for 1 year ? Some kind suggestions please 🙏

@Lbsnaa2021 Are you doing only the labor codes or covering the acts separately as well?

Could you guys please suggest a cost efficient printer that I can use for online tests. Which one do you use? I am willing to spend ~10k.

hp 1020 plus. using since 2 years. no issue whatsoever. printed more than 7k pages.

cons- older model, overpriced, low availability, black n white, no auto duplex(though manual works fine)

pros- efficient, workhorse, high quality, low maintenance, brand, easy repair, easy and cheap refill, most printing shops swear by it, durability, simplicity

buy it without a second thought. dont waste time pondering over this vs epson vs canon. not much difference. youre welcome.

frankly as an aspirant one shouldnt be fussy about colour. ink tanks arent great if u r planning on high yield/large volume. plus any local photocopy shop can refill your cartridge for 1020 laserjet for under rs 100. gets you about 1500 pages per refill. more economical.

oh sorry. i confused inkjet with inktank. i think the epson inktank advised above is a good option. better than 1020 plus also. but just be sure to maintain it properly. 1020 doesnt require any maintenance though. the epon is much faster with much higher yield. and cheaper refill.

@NOLEisGOAT Isn't a manual duplex printer more cumbersome and time-taking? Do I need to turn every page manually? I haven't used a printer before, hence the doubt. Thank You

@Steph_Curry no not for each page. only once in each pile. the odd numbered pages(or even not sure) get printed first. then you need to reinsert the same pages for printing on other side. the instructions will be provided in a window prompt every time. so no its not difficult. 1020 does 14 ppm and epson inktank does 27 i think in b&w so latter is less time consuming if time consumption is an issue.

@Master Bhai how are you dodging parents ka pressure.

@UncleDeadpool 1.Parents are very supportive and understand the competition for these coveted jobs.
2. I had worked for many years before coming to this arena, so had an option of going back.
3. My younger brother is doing job who finance my preparation.
Nonetheless personally it has been disappointing failing at it multiple times. I really wish all my effort will bear fruits this time:) Gearing up for fourth prelims.

This is kind of exactly the situation I'm in. Turned 24 last month, 2 failed prelims under my belt (didn't even put 10% of the effort required), and I'm overwhelmed by the amount of hard work that is required and even then there's absolutely no certainty of success. Started focusing on MPPSC a couple of months back, have covered large parts of the syllabus, and with two exam cycles slated to be completed in the next year or so, I'm feeling much more confident. State PSCs are at least not as unpredictable as UPSC, at least not MPPSC. I think sometimes we just need to take a step back.
