Dilli ki tu tadak se bahot door, gomti nadi kinaare ek sapnon ka sheher hai, jahan "aap" se nawaaza jata hai har kisi ko. Isi jannat ko lucknow kehte hain! :P
There is this podcast episode I heard (finally putting that subscription to use :p) which has made me fall in love with your city. I learnt about "kissagoi" and "aadaab arz hain" and many more things. Can't wait to visit.
Bebaak Batkahi: Kissa-e-Lucknow
Bebaak Batkahi: Aadaab Arz Hai
Please do visit!
We will treat you with the heavenly malai-Makkhan/nimish prepared using fresh winter morning dew!
This sweet delicacy is lighter than the clouds, fluffier than cotton and sweeter than the sweetest nectar of the world.
Fir hum bhi aapse kahenge, muskuraiye, ap lucknow me hain! :)
Accha hua Malai Makkhan bola and Tundeys nahi.
Logon ka Tundey Kababi se enchantment mere samjh se bahar hai - jab dekho tab pack karke lete aane ko kehte hain :D
Lucknow has way more to offer. Plus, Mughali and Awadhi cuisine mein bhi, Dastar-Khwan is way way better.
Very true. I had balai-ki-gilori as a backup in case @whatonly would have not been enchanted by Nimish! :P
Btw Ever since lockdown got lifted, have been to dastar 4 times! :P

Have you ever had the Kashmiri Wazwaan, hein? :P
Rogan Josh I love, baaki ap bataenge! :D
I kind of do not understand this Lucknow romanticism. Okay, Biryani and Kebabs and all is good, so is Hyderabad's.
Urdu is good? Hyderabad's does well there :/
Then what else? Street food. Pretty much everywhere.
FYI: Hyderabad bagged the UNESCO title of "Creative City of Gastronomy".
Since I am on the path of offending Lakhnawis, let me offend Delhiites too. In all my humble opinion Mumbai food scene is far better than Delhi. Frankly, every place I visit only provides me a different variety of paranthas and kulchas. Add chole, paneer, rajma, mutton dish and chicken masala. If not satisfied, then golgappas, tikkis, and dahi bhallas or else chaaps. You get these in Mumbai too and they are quite decent.
I am appalled by lack of diversity of quality food options bar State Bhavans. No south indian quality food (dont say Saravana bhavan and overpriced Sagar Ratnas), no authentic sea food, no maharashtrian dish, no gujarati dish.
All the above mentioned could be found in Mumbai and quality wise is top notch.
The only reason I could think of is, Mumbai is very diverse place and people migrate from all places from north to south due to connectivity and jobs. Whereas, Delhi except people coming from all north Indian states, I dont see much migration from far off states including south. And naturally are well reflected in food cuisine
Apko bhi jeet lenge, ek baar lucknow me kuch samay bita lijeye! :D

Nahi. Khilana kabhi :P
DONE! :D

Bestum best hota hai Rogan Josh and it's one of the 7 to 36 dishes that comprise of Wazwaan ( veg + non-veg). It's become part of the folklore now, more associated with the region's pride and identity. Khair! The most jannat nasheen albeit is 'Rista'. Oho jaan de de insaan! :P
@whatonly Where is the Indianness when there is no banter, and that too a food :PNext I m hoping NITI Aayog to bring out Food Index :)In all seriousness, I am jealous and hope to visit there and relish all these dishes guided by a local.
"Thalinomics" by Economic Survey last year :)
@mehuifsThat too. But in my case its arithmetic progression so far. At least I hope so, haven't checked in a while.
I think what makes Hyderabad special is that it has pretty much everything covered. I've only visited Lucknow and Hyderabad once. To be honest, 'Mughlai' food in both places is amazing. Yet, the palette in Hyderabad is so much more diverse. Another perk is that due to the IT industry, Hyderabad has a lot of cool cafes! Hyderabad had sports clubs with food courts open at 3 AM in the night. Chicken Tikka & Biryani after cricket nets, what's not to like?
Didn't get a chance to have Nimish but Tundey Kebabs were amazing :)
@SergioRamos Ranveer Brar is amazing. My sister got married in feb and I had to choose the menu for the wedding. So, i was trying to figure out what all the choices really meant. So, i serendipitously discovered Ranveer Brar. Man, i was hooked. Ended up binging a lot of his videos.
Real question is did you just binge the videos or did you end up bingeing the food after trying them as well? Coz his recipes are excellent, especially the butter chicken one
I really watch video only as of now ( as living in home) if I try something of out myself my mom would kick me out 😅😅😅(cooking skills are not great...........but eating skill are what iam good at :p)
We all learn through threats and improve via harassment only XD
@LetsGetThisBread Didnt have that much time. Most of the things i had idea but these dishes have all fancy names. Was just trying to narrow down my choices with the videos. Like you know if I have to choose 6 subzis, they should have some diversity in terms of teekha/ feeka, colour of gravy, etc.
Makes sense…. No one wants to eat shahi paneer, butter paneer and paneer makhani at a dinner

Hahah. Can't wait for biryani wars. Then we'll see real banter xD

Oohhh its a subject close to heart. I love a good Biriyani, have eaten from many places, except Lucknowi and Kolkata biryani. Still think my mum’s version is the best (this is a very objective analysis trust me, she doesn’t gain any advantages on my scale, thats how serious i take my biryani)
