The Civils Mains result has been declared. This thread is for sharing your grief , joy , mixed feelings - absolutely anything and everything.
Another movie I like, with certain reservations is Premam (which was subsequently remade in Tamil and Telugu if I’m not mistaken). I also have plenty of depressing Malayalam movie recommendations in case any one is interested.Depressing as in? Sad ending depressing or made me cry depressing? I would love some made me cry depressing. Ustad hotel was one for the ages for sure. But some more please?
Depressing in the sense of truly depressing. Likeable characters doing morally questionable things depressing. Sadayam, kaliyatam (which is a retelling of Othello) are critically acclaimed and some of my favourites.
@Celeborn where to watch charlie
It's available on MX player for free (https://www.mxplayer.in/movie/watch-charlie-movie-online-51cce325691ede2b30b8362fbe8347a2). But there are no subtitles here.
You'll have to find some tweak to add subtitles manually
Commenting on this thread for the first time and overall,
second time on this forum.
Though I always decided to refrain from taking part in any kind of discussion until the time I clear my exam, but after reading some comments of recent past, I just cannot resist trying my best to solve some problems shared by some fellow members.
So here it starts…
The main problem that any human possesses is that they have a tendency to compare their lives with others. And this is where the
problem/suffering starts because this is a classic example of a “bad attitude”.
Now, instead of going with these fancy terms, I will try to explain this with
an easy example.
Taking the real life situation which@SunnyParashar Bhai presented
before us i.e., of not getting selected at 960 marks, but someone getting selected
at 930 marks. Now, if we look at this result which is a by-product of human
actions, Prima facie, there is nothing wrong at 960 marks… the right approach
after this result should have been… “I have got 960 marks…these are very short
of my desired rank…now I must work hard and try to improve those marks.” Why this
is the right approach? because that is the only thing which is in our hand i.e.,
human (Why human because we are no GOD !!!). But instead, the suffering starts
when the result gets compared to 930 marks...now this approach is harmful…because
Firstly, the comparison is wrong because it is made with a by-product that is
result of some other human actions, which is not in anyone hands (again because
we are no God!!!)…and secondly, we were aware of this beforehand, that this
is a competitive examination and there are certain rules which will be followed
and changing those rules are also not in your hand at present and that is why outcome from
this competition will always be in the line with those rules… But instead, we started
to compare our lives with others. The suffering multiples after this bad approach because
the energy to improve ourselves gets diverted somewhere else. Believe me my
friends, our sufferings/hardships will never end, if we will compare our life
with others. You know everyone can cry that they are not born in ambani, kapoor,
bachan family or even now in shah family :D….
I am not saying that the system is fair...no not at all…but the right step should be to go out and work so hard that you are in a position to improve the system and bring it closer to fairness. Because at the end of the day this is only a human can do and must do (Once again we are no GOD!!)
If we will count the number of occasions where we have
compared our life with others and also count the amount of energy we have wasted in such
unproductive exercise, we will be amazed at our loss. All the sufferings or
hardships that we think we have is only because of this “comparing attitude”. And
never ever think that only I have suffered something and someone else has not…because
we have no knowledge in what circumstances the others must be living…everyone
has the suffering of their own kind…and the only thing that makes a human move forward through
this suffering is by diverting our full energy towards the “self” …..not “others”.
To conclude, all I can say is that this world is
beautiful, and the only dirt present, is inside us. And therefore we all must work
hard to remove this dirt every day, and this is the only way to achieve our dreams which we sometimes desire even before we deserve them.
My best wishes to everyone at this forum. May everyone gets power to seek the truth !!!
P.S. Sorry for the long post (first-time comment kiya hai…itna
haq toh banta hai :))
P.S.S. This cliché, but the true post is meant only for those who wants to be a “right student” (because that is the only good thing that we can do right now and we must do (saying for last time because we are no GOD kyonki pehle ache human toh ban jaon!!!))
EDIT: - In case if someone is thinking that I am from a 930 marks community(just for sake of explaining this I am using the word "community", though I don't believe in such terms because for me every human is the same !!) and is trying to teach how 960 marks students should move forward in times of failure, then I must clarify that I am from 960 marks community…and as said above, I will always try to look towards “Self” and try to improve myself because that is the “only right attitude”. Someone has rightly said,Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.
Peace out !!!

Can you suggest some happy movies too please? Likeable characters doing likeable things types.
I think all of it stems from lack of empathy, be it reservations or no reservations or when we talk about casteism and bigotry in our society; all of it stems from the basic fact that we, as a society don't value empathy. We mock it. Sounds very philosophical, eh? But that's the harsh yet true reality. Sometimes very basic things have the most accurate answers for the most complicated questions. And I say this from personal experience.
So when Bulleh Shah, the famous Sufi mystic and poet said, " dushman mare khushi na kariye, sajna vi mar jaana ae". ( don't celebrate when your enemy dies, one day your beloved will also die); he was really underlining empathy!
Had a great day today at forum with so much to learn from y'all. :)

Usthad Hotel, Charlie, Bangalore Days all fall into this category. I'll start with those.
Sure there are some emotional scenes but overall the storylines are beautiful. At the end they leave you happy and feeling good. Some of these characters are my favourites even now.
I haven't seen too many Malayalam movies, even though I'm a malayali. Just the popular ones. I'm sure others including@DeekshitaP can suggest you more and better movies
I would like to suggest one of the best movies I have watched and arguably one of the best of all time - Gunda (1998). It's a classic and simply cannot be missed. There have been many speculations and covert theories that Christopher Nolan takes inspirations for his movies from this masterpiece. And it is very difficult to refute these theories given the novel and out of the box concept of Gunda.
Bhaiyo aur behno, sau baat ki ek baat.. exam kab ho raha hai? 😂Life has gone into a tailspin post mains failure.
Aur jinka pre bhi nai hua unki toh tail hee katt gayi. :p
On a more serious note, after seeing those insights and civilsdaily videos, I could only say that no one knows anything substantial. Sab andhere mei teer chala rahe hain. 😂

Yeah they don’t know shit. What if UPSC comes out with admit card instead of notification by May end? :P
We’ll have to seek advice from Addtl Solicitor General Tushar Mehta then, as he claimed famously - prelims is hardly a matter of a month’s worth of studying 😂

And then after uproar, he'll say to us, "let's not be cry babies." :P
I loved Charlie!! I found it really beautiful!
Another one of his films I really loved was Bangalore Days. Uff. Saw it in theatres. Worth every penny.
It is literally one of my favourite movies. Being a Malayali I really enjoyed all the jokes. Another movie on Amazon prime worth a watch is Joji. In fact Fahad Faasil (also in Bangalore days) has some great cinematic gems. If I may suggest another two movies in which he has acted is North 24 Kaadam (which gives quite a sensitive portrayal of OCD if my memory serves correctly) and 22 Female Kottayam.
Can u recommend some malayalam thrillers and yeah premam remade into telugu, tamil.
