@Usain_bolt its not teaching its business. They have to justify there price. I have strong feeling they forced Mrunal Patel to stop uploading videos on his youtube channel.

I think he is not well so not uploading videos. He is not doing win21csp or punacademy lectures either I think.

Economics is the crude reality of the life we are living. So whether its education, industry or relationship,  money plays a dominant role in all.

I guess, Mrunal didn't like "Aspirants". This is what he said in his article published yesterday on his website.

Yeah maybe. But personally I think he is unwell that why no videos these days.

@nerdfighter Of course not. My intention was not to question TVF's mentality. But I wanted to talk about that character and the way they potrayed that scene to highlight reservation system, which I think could have better handled with more nuance but thats alright. I was not keen to comment on this aspect but when I see here that few of them share what Abhilash felt, it just feels somewhat undermined, particularly more so when many of them here aspire to serve the public.
The better way to initiate conversation is not sugarcoat the problems and brush under the carpet but rather show for what it is and I am glad to see people here being more open to have discussions and receptive to other point of views.

Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have imposed lockdown restrictions till 24th of May 2021. And, a few other states till May 17 to 20ish.

Going by the timeline of the last few years, UPSC is expected to release admit cards by the end of the May 2021. And for that to happen, UPSC needs to arrange examination centers across the country and allot them to the candidates. Logically and Logistically, It's almost an impossible task do by the end of May 2021.

In my personal and humble opinion, due to above mentioned reasons. The exam will not be held on 27th of June 2021.

And also, due to the possibility of third wave, UPSC may not immediately announce the new dates or calendar. It will wait till it can establish clarity and foresight on the pandemic. We may expect a press note communicating the deferment of the UPSC CS Prelims 2021 exam until further notice, in the next 2 weeks.

All the best and keep preparing well.

Take care everyone. You all are awesome. :)

Is it really true? I thought he was unwell?

Also saw TVF aspirants being discussed here.

It was a treat to satiate the cravings of emotions, drama, dialogues and entertainment from a web series. As usual, well delivered from TVF.

Just hope that the aspirants who are new to the preparation arena can distinguish things between the reel and real. If anything, that is the only downside. Sensationalizing the journey of an aspirant to romanticizing the job of a collector can cause undue burden to the happy souls that have just entered the ring.

The life should go on, CSE is just an exam and IAS is just a job, albeit a very enriching/challenging one. Be happy, let everything in life be on good pace and prepare in peace. Don't get mad behind the exam. Get mad behind making your life better, everything else will fall into the place in proportion to your efforts and smartness.

If there is anything that I've learnt from my failures, it is this. The difference between me and someone who has cleared the exam is not the books/tests we both have done. We both may have done the same, but the difference lies in the journey he/she has traveled since the times in college, the study habits and the lifestyle.

Someone who has spent years before college and during college, in a competitive atmosphere has a mental edge with respect to familiarity and experience to deal and execute the situation.

The coachings, the books, the online guidance and the toppers mantras, everything is peripheral to the clarity of thoughts you hold in the your head.

Once you get clarity over how to crack this exam, the rest of the things just reinforce your efforts. Search for clarity and you won't fear searching your roll number in the pdf.

Taking leave again. Lots of love and hugs to everyone here during these tough times. Stay strong and believe in the better future. Take care. :)

@Arsene thank you so much for pointing out the problem with that scene. It was very underhanded and cheap of tvf to attack people with disabilities in their attempt to bring up reservation.

The fact that it got entirely ignored in our discussion yesterday also points to the lack of awareness among us here. I have seen many disparaging comments about quotas under youtube videos of candidates with disabilities who clear the exam. Thank you for bringing it up.

l kind of started liking ghuri because of that scene. felt bad for him. that he wasnt at fault and bore the brunt of abhis frustration. despite trying to lighten up the mood for his friend. but thats purely from a cinematic storyline pov. thanks to the social reality audit weve had, even im beginning to see it was wrong. still, maybe tvf is just trying to showcase stereotypes that exist in reality, without commenting on the good or bad of it? that someone like ghuri is not spared even by a friend? remember ghuri is also among the lead and at no point did they make it expilict that ghuri was 'disabled'. maybe consciously for them theres more to his character arc than his physical shortfall? ill give them the benefit of doubt.

one thought experiment. suppose there was an island which was inhabited by 4 tribes having equal population and there was no discrimination, no societal disabilities imposed on anyone on the basis of their membesrhip of a tribe . Yet it was found that 1 tribe was prospering and claiming a larger share of the resources, say 70% , while other 3 had to make do with whatever crumbs were left. Here the successful tribe was not doing anything wrong, it survived on its merit alone, and lived by the sweat of their brow.

Would affirmative action be warranted in such a scenario?

ignore if doesnt make sense

*assuming prosperity=survival

it would create an island of unequals, the left behind tribes would band together/strengthen in numbers, negotiate/threaten prosperous tribe to a contract of social justice/equitable distribution, based on stronger tribes reaction there could be war/endgame or peace based on concession

is affirmative action warranted? not as a means of social justice alone maybe but as a form of negotiation for peace. Also it is hard to not account for other variables- ex values of the tribes- a left behind tribe may not want to prosper by hand-wringing. Assuming all players are rational, the negotiated peace with affirmative action would seem  most probable.

as for right-wrong/justice, it is situational not absolute. within the pact/negotiation there would be rationalisation of redistribution of wealth. ex- god has made us equals/ your liberty is guaranteed only with equality/democratic function etc. though to us/outsider it would seem unjust/unfair within the system it would be rationalised as effective justice- one ushering in peaceful civilisation.

Here we see actor Munmun Dutta( actress of BabitaJi fame), using the word bhangi in a derogatory sense. This just goes to show how deeply ingrained casteism is that a caste name has transformed into an abuse. There is a high probability that she did not know it is a slur also. The very absence of knowledge about a word so casually used as a slur also points out the privilege of being unaware of any caste issues because, throughout her life, she has not faced one.

We, peeps, were having discussions and this happened today itself so sharing. :)
