Commerce & Accountancy Optional - Booklist, Useful Resources, Helpful Websites, Current Affairs, Examples, Answer Writing Practice

#1) I am planning to start answer writing from July 1, trying to do Paper 2 in July and Paper 1 in August (as much as possible). We can do that together using this platform.

#2) Let us also collaborate by sharing our booklists and useful resources that we have come across.

#3) Let us share any relevant news that can help us in enriching our answers.

#4) Let us support each other in this journey because there are a very few aspirants who take Commerce as their optional and hence there is not a lot of information available.

Hello, I have cleared Mains 2019 with Commerce Optional. My interview is yet to be conducted.

In terms of sources -

Thought to contribute a bit. All the best!

@Arrokoth  thanks for replying. Congratulations on clearing Mains. All the best for your interview. I hope you rock it and get a brilliant rank.

Did you take coaching?

I am taking coaching from Rankers Classes. I have complete Paper II and taxation lectures. I am now doing FM and finding sir a little slow. Do you think I should continue watching lectures or just do FM, Costing and Accounting myself? Thanks.

Thank you  :)

I joined their correspondence/postal course. And joined test series after Prelims. I almost entirely relied on their material, but no classroom lectures. So, you can go through PYQs, see if you can deal with those questions from self-study. If you can, great! Otherwise quickly coursing through lectures might be more advisable along with greater practice.

@Arrokoth The fact that you went through their material is so reassuring. I just went through Siddharth sir's blog post and realized that I will not be able to go through most of the additional resources he mentioned. :P This has been a real confidence booster. Thanks. :)

@thistooshallpass hahah I can empathize. I felt the same when I began, then I came across Shivani Goyal's post along with most others who scored good marks. Most of them could rely on Ranker's Material to see them through.

I, too, am an aspirant with Commerce & Accountancy as an optional subject, shall write the exam in 2021 though. I have planned to study from the recommended books themselves along with the ICAI study materials wherever required and will use Ranker's Classes notes only for solving topic wise PYQs.

@Gaurav Good for you. I actually am not a CA and have no comfort with ICAI study material. Hence, I am relying only on Ranker's material.

I am not a CA either hehe but yes have cleared upto IPCC stage with high marks post which I quit CA voluntarily for CSE prep. And yes, refer anything you are comfortable with but just try to cover the syllabus completely and practice the numerical cum theory questions ruthlessly. Ranker's materials, as I have heard from many, are sufficient and can be safely relied upon. You may watch a video, the link of which is pasted below:
