Past 3 days including today were not very productive. It was difficult to focus on studies due to some reasons.

Tomorrow i will do a dopamine detoxification of brain. Will not do any activity which gives me pleasure.

Thingsi am not going todo till prelims-

  • Watch any movie
  • search about bikes
  • play my guitar (Will not even look at it since it eats up atleast 2-3 hours)
  • spend time on social media
  • any other brain destructing acivity

Thingsi will dotill prelims and even after that

  • Meditation
  • Exercise
  • 11-12 hours of study everyday
  • Good sleep
  • Healthy food
  • Revision (most important)

@HotBloodPrince I stumbled upon this concept quite a while back when I was quite depressed actually. Did these things:
1. Nofap.com
2. Stopped eating sugar
3. Went on a strict diet with cheat meals once in four weeks
4. Exercise
5. Waking up at 4:30 every day.
6. Decided not to smoke pot again (Wasn't hard to do because I didn't have access for quite a while before also)

Idea is to deny yourself immediate pleasure because every time you give in to urges for immediate pleasure, there is a rush of dopamine in your brain. Over time, this makes you lazy af. Instead, focus on doing hard things which take time and effort. Your brain would be doing a lot of work to derive pleasure. But that pleasure will be long lasting, not something fleeting and which deprives your energy for the rest of the day. These things helped me get over depression. Point no. 1 is a struggle, I'll admit, but its something that I found the most useful.

@TabsAndChords 5 months and cold shower in Delhi's winter. Hats off bro. Thanks for sharing.
@Patootie thanks for sharing.
One last question to both of you. Is this the right time to change given closeness of exam, or this experiment is meant for peace time. I'm asking this because I have heard for first 2 3 weeks or longer mind's rebound is quite strong and since you are spending so much will power in disciplining yourself, you're left little for your main activity I.e. study for exam. In psychology there is term for it "ego depletion"

First 45 days are quite difficult to resist urges . But after that it is smooth af. And yes, it takes lot of will power in starting . So for now its better not to go cold turkey . I would start again after prelims. For now i am just controlling it.
