With reference to the economy during the
British rule in India, consider the following
statements:

1. The English East India Company came
to India in the search of raw material to
feed industries in England.

2. The latter half of the nineteenth century
witnessed commercialization of Indian
agriculture.

a, b, both correct , none ?

Consider the following statements with reference to Fixed-term employment (FTE): 1. Fixed-term employment (FTE) is a contract in which a company hires an employee for a specific period of time. 2. An FTE worker will be entitled to all statutory benefits like a permanent worker. 3. The Industrial Relations Code, 2020 allow converting permanent jobs into fixed-term contracts.

Which of the statements given above is/are correct? (a) 1 only (b) 1 and 2 only (c) 2 and 3 only (d) 1, 2 and 3

IN this is the statement 3 correct , I believe its the opposite naa ??

i too feel its B.

C ?

Correct as per answer key also.
Although I dont agree with the answer completely, because those registered in voter's list can be of just 18 years of age also, but 18 year old teenager can not contest in municipal elections. So, technically this seems wrong to me.
Hence, I have this doubt.

B only, industrial revolution started much later while Brits were here in 1600s itself.

The question in municipality one is asking for one codntion among other conditions that will nee to be fufkfilled so it doesn't matter whether age is 18 or 21 here. The question is not concerned with that fact.

@RAGNAROK Not sure of exact details but brief overview of issue is

Some states were just saving CSS funds given from central share in Bank without using it & were earning interest from such saving instead of timely allocation to schemes within a particular period, leading to execution delays

To prevent this, centre has made Single nodal agency system mandatory wherein centre will give its share in certain tranches provided the states appropriately allocate funds for the respective single nodal account created for each scheme and utilise it

If state continues to do the old method of interest earning etc ,States should payback such interest earned to centre (ie., respective tab under consolidated fund of India)

What is the difference between participatory notes and depository receipts?

One that I know of : P-notes are for trading on Indian stock markets,  DRs are traded on foreign stock markets.

Since UPSC thinks Chief Secretary is "appointed" by "Chief Minister"  (not Governor, UPSC-2016),  I think it is safe to assume on these lines that Cabinet Secretary, all other Central secretaries are appointed by Prime Minister and not the President?

Yes, because they are appointed by ACC headed by the PM. Similarly, for appointment of Chief Secretary the Government Order is issued by the concerned dept(generally headed by CM). There is no specific order/notification/signature from Governor.

Appointment by Prez=>Prez appoints(such as initial appointment to service of AIS/CCS officers & only he can remove them)

Appointment by ACC=>ACC headed by PM appoints to a post & no authority below this can remove the concerned officer

Appt. By Govt=>Some officer in the govt(as notified in rules) will be the appointing authority- generally contractual emp in Central govt are appointed by senior officers.

@Caesar Yes got it. A further clarification....laxmi writes president appoints chiefs of army, navy, air force. But they are appointed by ACC (Google and other orders). Similarly CDS is appointed by ACC. So what is correct here?

What is the difference between participatory notes and depository receipts?

Depository receipts are used by companies to raise funds from foreign markets where they aren't listed, while participatory notes are used by investors mainly big ones like hedge funds to invest in indian markets without going through hassle of registration with sebi etc
