Can anyone explain monetisation of deficit? like how does RBI does it..it is like it prints the money and gives to gov? read in vision mag that RBI purcahes govt bonds in the primary mkt?

It means the RBI purchases government bonds directly rather than the government borrowing from the markets by selling bonds. It results in the increase in the net holdings of treasury bills by the RBI. With the issue of more money to the government, the money supply in the economy increases.

Essentially, it's a borrowing by govt from RBI to finance it's debt. RBI would print and give money to governments in exchange for bonds. This happens in primary market.

Counter question - what happens in secondary market?

That guy has some brilliant notes on every topic. Plus it is dirt cheap for 200-300 something and a two year subscription. As far as I know, it is run by one of the ex aspirants. Everyone should buy his subscription I feel.

I whole heartedly second this. His notes are simply amazing imo. I think it's better than NCERT because it explains in more detail and from PYQs I think we need to know some of those detailed explanations.

but in vision it was written it does not increase net debt of the centre. So , if RBI buys those bills..will not govt pay interest to the RBI?

In vision it writes that RBI participates in secondary market too , which is indirect monetisation if RBI holds it till perpetuity.

I'm totally new to the preparation for the IAS , and as suggested by a few toppers decided to check on Tamil nadu board history book(class 11)

I found 2 versions of the book available online , can anyone let me know which one to follow ?

@DrGodMode  Both are equally good. The Black and White one is the old edition whereas the coloured one is the new one. People used to refer to Black and White earlier as the new editions just came out I guess just 2 years back. Hence the confusion. You can pick any one of them.

@AzadHindFauz @Upsc_2020 can you list which are constitutional rights available and which legal rights available?

these days they are asking such questions. How to tackle? Art 300 A is there in constitution but they say it is legal right. Even answer key changes from institutes.

@upsc2020 yeah i know that. vision got it all wrong. (acc to them in monetisation of deficit- govt shouldnt pay any interest to the RBI- which is wrong - they have to pay but at a lower rate)

And with regard to in secondary market - done through OMO (even then the currency is actually printed by RBI- but the buying and selling takes places at the market bond rates- not any subsidised one like happened earlier) - could gather this much info only.

Yeah I had the same doubt, but I think the reasoning is that while we don't have a proper separation of power since it's not explicit in the case of the executive and legislature we do have separation of power with respect to the judiciary. That's the only reasoning I could explain the answer with.

Division of powers is w.r.t. division between Union & States(like 7th schedule).

Separation of powers is between the different organs viz Legislature, executive and judiciary

Does anyone have a good pdf or any other source of important temples and monasteries (Prelims PoV)? Or at least a list of such temples which can be asked in prelims.

yes both are same....new version also has tamilnadu specific locations/ info at the end of each chapter....i feel one can skip them....in addition, for medieval , nios material has glossary at the end of each chapter which has meanings of the important positions or terms used during medieval period....thus TN 11th plus only the nios glossary would be enough....

1000%. Call it blatant promotion but the guy at PMF is really good and is working very hard to provide content at throwaway prices.

@ArchAngel96 India does have separation of power but it doesn't follow the same in strictest sense. It is done through a system of checks and balances. This promotes a constitutional government and keeps a check on the arbitrary power it can exercise. This is done by keeping executive and judiciary separate.

Division of powers is mostly related to subject matter jurisdiction of states and union under seventh schedule.
