Hi,

Pre 2021 is my first attempt. I have a few queries regarding my exam centre. Would be grateful if any admin/senior/user can answer these. Will lessen my exam day anxiety to a great extent.

1) My centre is: Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya, O-Block, Mangolpuri, Delhi. I live in a colony near Karkardooma metro station. Should I take metro or cab to the centre? If metro, can someone pls tell me the best route i.e which is the nearest station to the centre, to take auto from metro station or not, etc.

2) During the break between the papers, will we be allowed to stay inside the school or do they close the gates and push us out on the street?

3) Can I take a bag with mobile, food item, wallet to the centre as I will be travelling alone? Is there a safe room where we can keep these things?

1. This will be close to peeragarhi metro station. So you can take up the green life. You will have to interchange.

The metro stations generally have the auto or rickshaw to and fro for the exam centres on exam days.

I wouldn't suggest cab as the availability of ola Uber in the morning hours has been a challenge for me. Metro is more reliable in that case.

@Caesar Thank you for your reply Sir/Ma'am. One last question: how do you suggest I spend the time during the break? Presently seems to be an onerous task to me...

Just thought to pass on one important information especially to those who are planning to reach their exam centre by metro(including me). Blue line is known for technical snag and due to which sometimes metro remain stuck. So, at least take the margin of 2 hrs if you want to travel through #DelhiMetro. Reaching early at your centre even before 2hrs isn't problematic but what if one remain stuck in metro and could not reach at centre because of Delhi metro.

Today, I witnessed this and unfortunately I'm not able to reach at my centre. So, just thought to share it with you guys.

@TsarBomba @TheNotorious Thanks guys. I'll try for the cab early if I don't get it I'll just go ahead with the metro plans you guys mentioned.

Let me see what I can do for you. What is your Center again ? UPSC ?

@Neyawn @TsarBomba @TheNotorious Guys, I've decided to go there a night early and stay at a hotel. Don't want to take all the journey on the exam morning.

Might not sign in during this week. Best of luck everyone

Have a good nights sleep, and dont stress out too much.

And about that "Let me see what I can do for you", I was wondering if we can arrange a bus to take people from ORN to Dholpur House, that will ensure at least few hundred people away from Cabs and leave those many to the rest.

Then I realized I am overestimating the reach of forumias to get as many people. Also, I noticed you have a different center , so the Dholpur house commute would anyway not work for you.

Bests!

Is it advisable to see the centre beforehand?

If the centre is not too far away, I would suggest ki dekh aao centre ek dinn jaake.

Last year on prelims day, I wasn’t allowed to enter my centre because I reached the gates at 9:29 am. I left my home around 7:30 ie 1.5 to 2 hours before the exam time and my centre was just 20 minutes away from home, but despite of that I was not able to reach my centre on time because I was travelling to that place for the first time and my phone’s GPS failed me in telling the directions as to when to take left or right(I was riding bike with headphones and map on and I use an iPhone lmfao). Kehte hai na ki jab L lagne hotay hai toh poori kaaynaaat lagti hai tumhaare peeche L lagaaane).

That was my major learning last year and hence I would suggest that if the centre is like 10,15 or 20 kms away, it will be better to  visit and get familiar with the centre beforehand because you never know in which gully-chauraha, your centre will be.
