Football- News, Rumours, Analysis, gossip and much more.....

Let's create a small community of football lovers out there. This thread intends to add value to our knowledge of the game and to hone our understanding about the game. Although football comes with banter, let us try to keep the discussion objective and civil to the maximum extent possible.

Both Messi and Ronaldo are the legends of the game. Period. So, please do not bring up this debate :)

@necromancer Utd fan, but Wenger's style of football made Arsenal my 2nd goto club.. it was art, the passing was fluid, the tempo was optimum(except on bad days obviously)

There used to be a group on Facebook named Football Haven. One of the best footy groups I have ever come across. I was very active from 2014-18 , but had to leave it due to studies. Anyone knows or has been part of that group?

Have not been able to watch regular matches due to prep, but I follow via highlights and post-game reports.

Maybe we can share some good football write ups that we come across from time to time. I find this guy(https://www.nytimes.com/by/rory-smith) very engaging.

Good idea. I read the below article on Guardian every Friday before the PL. It gives a nice little preview of all PL games on weekend. It has almost become a ritual for me now.

Also, this fun article that I read recently:-

The unlikely story of how 'Dundee United' became an insult in Nigeria

Will sound way optimistic, but our only shot is UCL, because a fully fit Real Madrid is still a force to reckon with. League requires consistency, and that we do not have with so many injuries!

Not these days. It is very addictive and who has the time now!

Plus it ruins watching football. We are more concerned about fpl points

@AzadHindFauz that’s ancient history :P
I started my foray in football with Chelsea, only because one of my good friends liked them. Slowly got more and more into football, went out to buy a Chelsea jersey, wasn’t available, Arsenal’s was. That started my love-hate relationship with the club.
Although I stuck with Chelsea till the night they won the CL. Then started watching Arsenal and fell in love with Wengerball.
Arsenal is still my go to club but the club just doesn’t have the same excitement to it. Earlier even in defeat Arsenal played some breathtaking football. Now it’s just:
-Play well in the start
-Score/Get close to scoring
-Make an error and concede
-Try to breakdown the team
-Get hit on counters
-Bring on Willian
-Pain

We have some structural issues that begins with the board. Stan Kroenke is disinterested in football. Edu makes poor decisions. Arteta's decisions have been poor too.

Tierney, Aubameyang, Gabriel, Saka, Partey and ESR are the reasons to celebrate. We have a decent frontline, but the CBs are unreliable. We need to bring back Saliba and sign another good CB in the Summer. Some of the players like Luiz, Willian, Elneny are way past their due date but Arteta keeps playing them.

@AzadHindFauz spurs will win :p

Difficult. Artetaball at Emirates :)

Mour would have devised something against it, most probably aggressive marking and counter attack

It's more likely the second option. If Arteta starts Elneny and Willian again, then we are doomed (He opts for a conservative line up for big games)

I'd fancy- Xhaka, Partey + Pepe, Odegaard, Saka + Auba.

This would be fun to watch.

@DramaticAdmiral I would instead argue that it makes football more interesting. Since I’ve started FPL, I’ve developed interest in teams I wouldn’t normally have given two hoots about.
Though I agree it tends to take a lot of time, plus when you’ve given a test, not performed well and simultaneously your captain blanks, it’s very depressing XD

@AzadHindFauz He took off Partey last game to protect him for the Spurs tie. Elneny definitely won’t be starting.
Arteta prefers Willian against low block team generally, Tottenham are a pretty defensive side so I feel Willian will definitely start.
The squad will be the same as against Olympiakos.

@necromancerWhat I meant was that when your favourite team scores a goal, you have one eye on who scored the goal or who gave an assist. Takes some fun out. Btw fpl draft is much more fun if you have a committed group of 7-8 people. We did a version of it in college during 2014 wc. Super fun.
