This is a re-orientation session, and a follow up for most people who have attended the Offline Session held for some RLG Students.
The Session will be LIVE in this page itself.
Please ask your questions in comments below so that we can take it up in the Video Session. People who are following SFG and Simulators are requested to watch it for and put questions here, in case they need any assistance.
@Neyawn Hi siryour saying not to make notes from newspaper -waste of time, but how to revise if i don't make it, as i will benot able to remember after 2 to 3 weeks later.Thank you
Take up compilations and study for them. The reason why I am asking not to make notes is because see you have limited time and energy.
in the beginning you don’t know what is important and what is not. You come to know about this distinction only when you solve test series or write the actual exam.
I have seen ( and keep seeing ) that freshers making newspaper notes note down things that are not important and fill up pages which are not useful at all. You yourself will realise that those notes are of no use.
At best of you have to make notes, make it from mains perspective ( but again final coaching compilations and class notes will be better than self notes , because it is a collaborative effort of people with mains and interview experience - and a team of 3-5 of them )
And if you still want to make notes , then make sure that you do not spend more than 90 minutes on the newspaper.
You May at best make 1-2 pages of notes if you still want to.
Also, if you are going for self study and no coaching, then make sure that you study static also. People who do a lot of self study often end up only reading newspaper and making notes of it for a few years. Current affairs / newspaper is exciting, it’s fresh and new everyday, so there is an inherent bias in favour of it. Keep a fair balance of static and newspaper.
In the end , whatever you do, don’t be the guy who is doing self study , is too thinly stretched over too many websites, and studies newspaper and current affairs for 3-4 hours every day - and finally at the end of the day ( or the month ) , when asked what have you done today or this month - you say I have only read the newspaper.
