Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread
Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.
@dr-ahmednaaz8567yupp cabinet mission plan me grouping ka dffrnt interpretation; majorly there were two issues whether dominion or full independence and united india or divided; and how all the british initiatives complicated these two things
@pysh12950yr as far as history ki debates transfer of power generally refers to in indian context baaki may be i have missed that perspective; not sure though; kyunki india perspective me bhi agar 1940s se provisions ko dekhen to kaafi bada answer already tha vo

Yes I also thought the same. But main focus was on India.
I wrote about Atlantic charter 1941(self government for colonies) and how Britain interpreted it for her interest by assuming the charter meant German colonies which was later on clarified by Roosevelt that it meant all colonies.
Baaki British how denied transfer of power by neglecting Arab Nationalism and creation of Israel. Iske baad thoda Africa Likha.
Then talked of August offer,Cripps,Wavell,Cabinet,Plan Balkan etc etc...

Came across this website today.After reading comments felt obliged to reply once in life.
Reason most will not clear the exam is that people tend to make answers so complicated.Story or no story in essay(bullshit I wrote story in essay and got 145 in 2017 with no structure,no quotes),write what is asked in essay be it with story or no story.British imperial power is standard history question and people are filling it with world history-no reason.
Hearing stories of answer writing since past 1 year.I did'nt write a single answer but yes I made handwritten notes of optional and gs each worth 1500 pages(1500*2)=3000 and mugged them by heart.Nobody will talk about it but yes everyone talks of answer writing,I have been reading hindu since past 4 years and making notes out of it-nobody will talk about it but yes everyone will talk of useless mrunal,forum useless test series.And yes I finished all papers with IBC format with 12-13 good answers,and rest average answers(in optional wrote all good expect 2 ten markers which were average).Main kyun karun answer writing.I have been writing such papers with unknown questions and time limitation answers in my MBA at IIM for the past 2 years.
Hearing stories of mugging ethics terms.Wrote ethics from by heart in 2017 and scored 91 marks.
Pareshan kar rakha hai in topper stories,forum comments(although I read it only for a day),coaching answer writing classes etc.Study,understand,mug up,write answer in exam of what is asked.Period.Forum par bakwaas karne wale bacche har cheez ko itna complicate kyun karte hain.Bolte hain diagram banao,copy ka har page bharo aur paper bhi poora karo.Pagal ho kya?Paper poora karna aur copy ka har page bharna are inversely proportional.
People say paper accha hua.Tumhara accha kisi ka average ho sakta hai.
Same thing I encountered in college.Bacche khud padhte nahi hain,khud coachings ke notes pe depend rehte hain aur doosre ka motivation girate hain.
Now I understand why last year 2nd ranker was'nt very happy with his answers.Uske hisaab se acche hue honge,fir usne social media pe tum jaise baccho ke complications padhi hongi aur use laga hoga uske answer average hain.
Saw someone's comments about paper 1 GS socio questions on this forum.Bata rahe hain forum par aise examples jo saare paper mein yaad hi nahi aa sakte in those 8 minutes despite the fact maine pure IGNOU ke 476 chapters padhe,hath se notes banae,EPW ke ek saal ke edition padhe,roz socio ke examples paper se notes mein likhe aur puri socio 7 baar revise kari.aur agar tumne kuch answers itne acche likhe honge to tumhara paper complete nahi ho sakta.I wrote such awesome answers in 2017 but managed to complete only 15 questions on average and ended up scoring 100s in all gs papers.Gandgi faila rakhi hai aur dimaag kharab kar rakha hai.
@bevancomMet such gyaan pele wale students in IIM.Khud padhte nahi hain,girlfriend ke saath aish karte hain aur doosro ko demotivate karte hain.Had I not listened to their bakwaas in 2017,I would have cleared the exam then itself.
Bolte hain test series do prelims keliye.Yewohi bacche hain jo 80 mock test dete hain.I have'nt attempted a single mock in my life and still manged to clear pre both times.
These are the students who say practise answer writing as it will help you sit though those 6 hours.Main kyun likhon answers.I attempted mocks for my CAT for continuous 9 hours.
Jab exam dene ka decide kar liya hai to stamina kya hota hai.Aise likho answer jaise zindagi ka last day ho,apne aap stamina,shakti aa jayegi aur paper poora ho jayega with quality.
Har exam ko hauya banate hain,har exam ki kahani banti hai.Pehele iit ki kahani suni,fir cat ki,fir gmat ki aur ab upsc ki.Shuru ke teen exam to nikle gaye ab life mein 10 saal se in stories ne dimaag kharab kar rakha hai isliye life mein 1st time reply kiya.
Sorry if it sounds rude to someone but I vented out all the frustation of last 10 years,education system,coachings,social media since I had no outlet to do so since I am not there on fb,whatsapp or any such media till now in my life
@bevancombhai first of all kudos to you for writing this much.
I agree with you on everything except that answer writing may/may not help in content per say but it will help increase your writing speed.
We should write tests though not for feedback and content enrichment but for speed and time management bcz it’s really difficult to write 6hrs a day for 4-5 days without practice.
I wrote directly in mains and couldn’t complete any paper 250/250.
Also u r right on examples part.. it’s impossible to recall relate and write particular example within 7min timeframe that too in tremendous mental pressure of mains n paper completion
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and busting the overhyped classes n material and also bakar on forum which is demotivating.
We all are part of process and also part of a race.
