@GloriousMess26competition is really tough and getting tougher, should adapt quickly or else its difficult to secure one's dream

@GloriousMess26the real problem with my sisters process was so many ews taking general seats, in her list she said out of 27 seats for general 19 were occupied by ews people 2 by obc 1 by sc, and cutoff increased by 4 marks for unresevred general.
I know things can't be compared between b.ed and upsc but still this will have some impact, and with experience we all know anything can happen in upsc, ache marks bhi aye to rank me asar pad sakta hai bwtween ews and non ews

nearly 6 to 7 of my friends writing mains have applied with ews (though some of them have costly gadgets)
but some were imandar too who have not applied and some were not able to produce document till august date hence considered general category for mains.
overall what impact it will have is not clear to me, and i was not even worried par ab sister ne dara hi diya, rest sabki apni mehnat aur kismat

@sat_009going by trends in other exams, ews cut off is lower than even st category. I think it is because of lesser number of candidates applying/qualifying for ews quota. So, prima facie, it may have impact this time around.

At the end of the day EWS will only take 10% of the seats.
So we need to compare and compete with rest 40/30%.
I don't think 10% seats will affest much.
This year 900 seats: For general left 450.Remove EWS we still have close to 400 seats.
Let's compete on those 400.Why worry about something we can't control.

@sat_009I used to worry a lot about quota thing in my jee,cat and several other govt. exams prep.
After reaching colleges and seeing at the results I realized hardworking candidates are always in,quota does'nt affect much.
PS: I am general category non EWS candidate.

its true that we should work hard, be optimistic and not worry about extraneous factors. but we should also be aware of the changed situation and competition.

cse 2018:no of seats= 812 (782 + 30)
UR category seats= 50.5% * 812 = 410
UR category IAS seats = 91

cse 2019:no of seats = 896
UR category seats = 40.5% * 896 = 363
UR category IAS seats ~ 73

so, if you secure rank in 80s this year, you will get IFS/IPS

@kuttanot trying to be negative but seats are actually around 360. Within which pwd candidates will also take seats. So we’re actually left with around 330. And Upsc May still alter the number of seats in the final list like last time (784 to 758).
Each seat matters.

@missionmangalwo alter nhi hoti hai, jitne obc/sc /st genral se uper hote hain utni genral ki kam hojati hai, coz till allocation ye sure nhi rhte ki wo log gen ki lenge seats ya reservation use hoga , to that no of obc/ st/sc get reduced fr total vacancies, badme aftr reserv list u can see total would be same

Yes each seat matters but we all knew these things before jumping onto thisroad.Soab is baare mein sochne se kya hi fayda.
Yes competition increases each year but we all know we prepare the same way.We don't look at number of seats before studying,kitni bhi seats hon jisko nikalna hai wo nikaal lega.Iss baar nahi to agli baar.

Increasing competition is a myth.
In earlier times also people used to study as much as now.I agree that today more number of resources are available with us but yeh resources sabhi ke paashain.Soplaying field is levelled.

If everyone keeps thinking about increasing competition then its the case everywhere.
Indian cricket team mein kitna competition hota hai.Fir bhi virat kohli iss filed mein kuda aur best batsman bana,dhoni nein job chodi.
Agar dhoni competition dekh ke dar jaata to aaj wo ticket collector hi hota.

@al_biruniMat milne do IAS koi aur service mil jayegi.Top3-4 services all are equally good.
