Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.

@al_biruniI M not sure but I believe this is not the way it works (if u look at ads for recruitment in employment news).1st 50 percent seats r alloted to quotas.remaining are 450.Now from this 450 ews will get 10% I. e 45.
This is my personal opinion.Baaki to result aane ke baad ki pata chalega
The 10% quota is applied to total number of vacancies, IE. 10% of 896= 90. So out of 450 seats fir UR , the effective number of seats for general category will be 360. Still even if you want to enter top services, then this will be meaningless. I mean suppose you get a rank of 75 and IAS closes at 70, you'll still get IPS/IFS/IRS etc, so effectively those who get a rank between 360-450 would anyways not be getting good services. I know many people are willing to enter any service, and I see that it's unfair for them , but if you're aspiring to be an IAS/IPS/IFS then this 10% EWS reservation should not be our concern.
@Chanakyait means for unreserved category candidates competition is same as last year. Last year too unreserved seats were around 360 n this year too..
Increasing competition is not a myth. Wow. Have the number of applicants for similar number of positions not increased over the years? Will that not also mean that the number of hard working candidates as a ratio similar to the overall applicants has also increased?@kutta
@zombielandyeah I think I remember that when govt introduced EWS reservation they mentioned that all vacancies in jobs and educational institutions will be increased in proportion to ensure that seats reserved for general category are not reduced. So perhaps this increase in seats from last year is just to balance out the EWS seats.
@ChanakyaUpsc didn't factor that in. That increase in seats issue was taken up during counseling process of educational institutions.
@Yes_I_am_inab ye log midlevel par direct lateral entry ki policy rakhna chahte hai
This is only for educational institutions not jobs.@Chanakya
@Chanakyaphir to jai ho Modi ji ki...
@Minimumwagefor ur info the number of candidates registering for exam have fallen from 9 lakh in 2017 to 5 lakh now with only 3 lakh attempting.
So decrease in number of candidates wrt decrease in number of seats is the same
