Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread
Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.

@bevancombro wat ur r saying is right but things don't work this way for all. Every serious candidate targets for IAS in the very first attempt. But many of them end up in giving 4-5 attempts.
This is my third attempt (2019). In both the previous attempts I found that something was lacking. In first attempt I missed cut-off by 120 marks (2017). I worked on my shortcomings but missed by 32 marks in 2018. Again I found out my limitations n worked on it and gave 2019 mains.
Please don't judge anyone by number of attempts or number of years in preparation. Before starting preparation for civil services I had read only one novel that too of Chetan Bhagat. I had difficulty in reading arts books as I am from technical background n also left studying books from class 11th (took admission in JEE coaching and read only coaching materials+ in college I studied notes of some classmate). I had to force myself to study books. It took a lot of time to develop inclination towards reading books. I have already invested five years of my life in preparation n dont know how long this journey will go.
We are not at equal footing. So one will reach destination earlier and another one will reach later. Obama retired by 55 years of age whereas Trump started his journey when he was 70years old.

yes, it is in a way, though more broader than political culture. it's about our society. and what we desire is a function of what society we live in. so a critique of our society also explains our own desires in a way.

@atuljinot prepared for philosophical topics in essay+ tried to copy toppers strategy of story wala introduction nd failed miserably+ more time on ten markers nd less on 15 markers+ left around 2 questions in all gs papers+ not attempted questions of worth 65 marks in optional+ avg. quality of answers in anthropology.
@bevancomBro, how childish of you to say things like that! I respect your line of thought, but how could you arrogate to yourself the right to demean those who have spent many years in preparation.
I dont blame you entirely, but for the 'direspect' part. I'm speaking my experience here. I resigned from a well-paying corporate job last year and began preparing in July,18. I had come with the same mindset as yours- to crack the exam in the very first attempt.
I think it made me have a positive outlook throughout the preparation phase. But, with each passing day, as my learning and knowledge of this exam matured, I began to realise that no one can be ever sure of cracking this exam! Ever!
I was able to write mains, but I realise that there's massive scope for improvement further. So, if@Yo_Yo_Choti_Singhsir says that this exam is kind of AFEEM, he's right. It's because you can do all the hard work and it will never be enough. There always be the scope for improvement.
I'm pretty sure (500%) that this myth gets broken for every newcomer. If you've toiled hard for one year, you'd develop a sense of liking for the exam. You'd also develop a sense of optimism that you'll be better the next year. Coupled together, these will make you stay!
I'm not waiting for mains'19 result now. It's of least bother at the moment. Because there's a lot of scope for improvement!

I still believe u need to put limit on the number of attempts else one gets wasting many years in the prime of her life.
And if u r never sure of clearing the exam u aren't doing it right.
That feeling only comes if one has gone beyond one's capabilities in prep phase.
And I still respect yo yo choti singh because of his devotion to a single cause in life.I would never have waited post 35 exams and 5 attempts personally..
Aur haan hum aur galiyan khaane ke liye tayar hain.
And don't give me the gyaan that this exam will make u humble etc.
Agar exam humble banate to exam pass karna ke baad toppers youtube par itni lambi lambi nahin fekte aur na hi rishwat lete hue pakde jaate aur nahi cheating karte hue aur nahi apni girlfriend ko dokha dete hue (2 ips 2018) aur nahi 1 crore ki dowry lete hue..

@pysh12950Haan I don't know essay mein kitni page milte hain.Par agar content hai aur sabhi page bhare hain to how does technicalities matter I still don't know.
I didn't know the syllabus or the number of questions in my 1st attempt and came to know them on the day of exam but still managed to score decent.
Agar khana banana aate hai to Yeh matter nahi karta ki garnishing kaisi ho ya Tawa kaun si company ka ho..
P.S I don't know what instagram does or I haven't used whatapp even once in my life..

@bevancomThis exam requires patience. And attempts are already restricted with 6 attempt for General category.
Coming onto knowing that you'll clear. You might as well set next year pre and main paper.
Nobody knows if CA is going to be focus or conceptual. And you're here blabbering about knowing result.

@bevancombro tum samjhe nhi ...2 attempt dene vale ko ye pata hota h ki per essay 11 pages k around milte hain...vo mains k kuch din baad forum pe ye nhi puchte ki 20 page mile ya 40....
I am questioning ki tum khana banane gye bhi ho ya nhi ?
