This question was raised by the UPSC citing opening of pandora box and the CAT cleared air that there won't be any such issue. Also, once the result is declared(which is soon), the issue will become infructuous.

Even though I have written a average-good answer about CAT in mains,I always assumed it was for officers’ grievances!
Had no idea upsc could be sued by commoners in CAT

@Akkkuthe order has been reserved by the tribunal. Till 4pm today the petitioners can give written submissions. Kal dopeher tak verdict aa jayegi mostly. The deliberations have been completed yesterday itself

@ShubzThe Judge is on leave on Wednesday. So expect the order by Thursday or Friday. Depending on who the verdict favours, result could be out on Friday itself or next week

I think one reason is that of the people who went to Medical School for MBBS, very few people in the EWS got through the general category. As a result, there are very few poor doctors applying. In a couple of years this difference would reduce

Given how competitive it is and how few government seats there are, many people from EWS can’t afford the expensive coaching which has become almost necessary to clear it. Thus of the people with MBBS, only few fit the EWS category

@ManchesterUnitedyes, but the case was against m/o personnel(as certi were not issued despite their OM), and upsc too became a party to it. I think the petitioners played smart, they did not have a case against UPSC(as upsc can't entertain candi w/o certificate), so they went after the Ministry which made the rules and issued the memoranda.
