Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread
Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.
@DKTI also started from 11. In last 55 minutes I attempted ten markers. Last five ten markers were done in hurry so lacked quality.
@TETRACYCLINEi dont think there is much variation from expected marks in GS3. I have attempted decetly in last two attempts in GS3 and easily crossed 100. I believe attempting all questions in GS3 with decent content easily fetches 100 marks.However, marks in essay is uncertain. we can never know if somewhere in essay we have deviated from the core issue.

it is good that u hv completed all the questions. But in my case quality and quantity is not compromised in any attempted questions of GS/OP.
@DKTit depends on approach. My approach was to cover 15 questions with good quality. Then dilute quality to cover more questions as i was not knowing exact answers of those questions such as secularism+regional resource based manufacturig. Similarly in GS3 questions like cyber-dome+contribution of scientists+integrated farming. IN GS2 questions on CAT... I tried to maximize my attempts to get 1-2 marks in these questions

I don't underrstand how you guys judge the quality during the exam, but to me every answer of mine seemed mediocre. We never know what others are writing. Thus, I try to write all answers with the best quality that I can get in the given time. Do share how you judge the quality during the exam.
@pranay3962129For me the thing was to write fluid,well structured,decent answers,complete the paper and hope for the best!

@pranay3962129quality u have given thought to questions, drew some diagrams (if possible), covered all dimensions, nice introduction and conclusion. whereas questions attempted by me in last minutes were directly to the point. no intro, no conclusion. only points r mentioned, no diagram, vague points, no use of data, committee reports. attempted in 2-3 minutes. Poor handwriting etc.
@DKTyr choot sakte hain kisi ke bhi; lekin agar saare questions aate ho to zyada sochne me time waste nh hota and saare attempt ho hi jaate hain ;
@zombielandMain to saare hi to the point likh ke aayahun.Nobakwaas,not much intro,no gapshast.Agar kisi answer mein 8 point aate the to 8 point body mein likhe without much intro and conclusion....
@mannemvasukinandan701The second judge mentioned in the cause list wasn't Mohd. Jamshed for the last hearing. Mohd Jamshed sat on earlier hearings. On those hearings, the facts of the cases were revealed and interim relief was being explored as an option.
On 6th, a detailed debate on validity of facts and examination of various aspects was done. This bench was that of Chairman, L Narsimha Reddy and A K Bishnoi.
So, that's not a valid concern to worry about. The second judge who witnessed the depth of debate and deliberation is available.

I dont understand why people show biasness towards questions.
Our approach should be to give equal preference to all questions.
It is quantity which should precede quality ,not otherwise , because quality is a relative term , may be what u consider quality answer is mediocre for examiner.

But u said here so I am telling u my final expectations/predictions
GS1- 100 plus
GS2- 95 to 100
GS3- 115-125
GS4- 105 -112
Essay- 80+75= 155
Optional sociology
Paper1- 145 to 150
Paper 2- 155 to 160
On an average
100+98+118+108=426
145+145+155= 445
Total= 871 ( *if scaling... 10 to 15 marks may increase )
Bro these are my final expectations......I don't know about UPSC.....UPSC me vision IAS ki tarah copy check nahi hoti......so I am hoping that good marks will be awarded for good answer... I still believe in each GS paper I hv written best answers for at least 15 to 16 questions.sorry for miscalculation if any bcz i was sleeping and suddenly....need khul gai..to forum check kiya

Bhai gazab ka confidence hai.
Cutoff kareeb 760 jaa rahi hogi.Aapke 880 matlab cutoff se 120 more.Last year keval rank 1 ke cutoff se 120 zyada the shayad.
Matlab iss baar aap rank 1 ho.
Selection ke baad apni topper strategy zaroor daalna and also ur socio strategy..

*legible handwriting was my first priority
*writing all the dimensions of the questions ( context)
*additional- Map, Flowchart, pie chart, graph, ( in sociology..there was question on Swachh bharat mission i made figure/ diagram of two small house and pointed EJJAT GHAR, in solution twin pit toilet structure.)
*reports of UN, WEF, ministry ( in many questions i hv mentioned Global Risk report.....like in Vulnerabilty, carrying capacity, Coral bleaching etc.
Conclusion/ way forward.

@bevancomit was not able to give equitable time to all questions. my last 5 five ten markers were done in hurry in around 20 minutes. Also I gave them less time as I was not sure of my answers. Like in cyberdome I was writing on cyber-security and not exactly on cyber-dome. I did not give 7 minutes to these questions as I was merely guessing answers

socio ki strategy aapko kyo jarurat hai...aapne to Socio me maharat hasil ki hai
Rank 1 ki wish nahi hai....bas atleat top 50 tak bhi aa gaye to 5 saal ki mehnat ka result mil jaiga.
