@AzadHindFauz@ManchesterUnitedthat I knew. I meant usually people other than celebrities who do AMAs do it anonymously. But I guess that’s not the routine.

@ManchesterUnitedyes, I myself was a long time lurker! Only started 2 years back. Most useful social media yet.

@Hermione_Granger r/India is pretty bad though and same goes for r/indiaspeaks. I prefer non political subreddits there

@Hermione_Granger I’ve been reading the Hindu for about 4 years now. I think it’s enough time for an aspirant to have developed a leftist tendency, if not totally hardcore. However, for me this has not been the case. In fact if you ask my friends they might even say I’m anti-left.
The fact of the matter is that I was always aware of the bias Hindu has for the leftist ideology. So I tended to avoid reading such articles by staunch leftists. I think most Hindu readers here would vouch for this and they might even be doing this themselves.
The preparation demands you to view each and every viewpoint neutrally. But it’s totally understandable if a few aspirants entering service are leftists. To blame it totally on reading a newspaper is baseless. In fact people of all ideologies are equally entitled to be in service.
The personal political opinions held by officers should mean nothing as long as it remains in the personal domain.

@kochikaameI prefer r/india over r/indiaspeaks but it has its shares of issues too. Been on both sides criticised someone from left got labelled privileged (kinda true I guess). But called out fakenews on indiaspeaks and got labelled leftist.

But r/India is equally sensitive to dissenting opinion, regardless of how much they romanticise dissent.

@Hermione_Granger A similar tale. G S Ghurye was a prominent indologist often invoked by right wing nationalists. He guided many sociologists. One of his famous disciple was A R Desai, a Marxist often invoked by left wings. A true guru/guide often encourages you to choose your own path and develop your own understanding of anything and everything.
The Hindu is a quality English newspaper with a south Indian accent. It just diversifies your opinions. Like everybody else here, I am an avid reader of the Hindu for years but got never tilted towards left. Just a personal opinion.

@Hermione_Granger that's how Reddit largely is, it's an echo chamber. Call out the dominant ideology and you'll be called names. Most people there are guided by emotions and not by thorough study of the concerned topics (which we've done as aspirants).

My issue with r/India is that it's absolutely pessimistic. Going through it makes me think some doomsday is about to come. What makes it worse is their ban policy. They criticize government all day for curbing freedom of speech while ban people the minute they go against the left ideology or speak in favour of the government.

Indiaspeaks is bad like a toxic right wing echo chamber but they don't ban people atleast like r/India does.

@Behemothmoreover is there any alternative to hindu or ie ?

@kochikaameOh yes. By and large I agree.
Mostly I have time only for subs dedicated to movies, TV shows. And sometimes, philosophy and books. Reddit otherwise, is great for expanding on your interests.

@TeddyWestsideNot much. But folks are switching to Livemint. Even I have the habbit of scrolling down some Swarajya (mag) articles to avoid the monotony.
