@TeddyWestside2016 had 15k plus candidates that may be one of the reason for variation

@Shubzwhat have been the avg marks in history in 17 and 18 ?

@TeddyWestsideno idea abt 17
For 18 it has been around 230-250...even the top 100 rankers have scored in 270s-280s,they are in top bcuz of gs n essay....some did cross 300 bt thn the overall proportion of sch ppl is miniscule

@Shubzthen it might have dipped in 2018 coz in 2017 with very superficial answers I scored 267; anyway ominous signs for history guys !!

@Shubzit's same with pubad as well. Very few cross 300.

Random thought seeing Vision Discussion.. Why paper completion is so much hyped? I didn't write even 50% of what was presented as solutions by Vision. So content is definitely lacking. Then why paper completion is so much hyped if content is so low ?

PS: Not talking about genius people. Average people perspective.

@HartshorneSame I did. Those 3 questions were doable. Problem was with question 1 and question 5. Phreatic eruptions, Hearthstone classification I haven't heard even though I had studied perspective in human geography and geomorphology in quite detail.

@STFormulating a "content rich answer" is first of all - subjective and second of all, difficult in the given time frame. What matters essentially is adherence to the demands of each part of a question. If content was truly the king we'd see a larger percentage of oldies getting selected. However that is not the case, many newbies such as akshat jain, tina dabi get good marks despite pedestrian content.

@K_9Got it ..But bro i feel even sticking to demand of the question is also tough in exam hall.. Pata nhi result aaye bass jaldi..

@vvvikas0078212genetic classification of boundary is a classy geo question. I think in phreatic question, it's consequences were same as those of normal volcanic eruption. I think reproduction rate question was the only one which required factual info. In rest all, 3-4 marks out of 10 can be achieved.

@Yes_I_am_ini know few who are claiming that!
Do you know any topper who claimed before hand (Before result) that he will get a top rank? I am yet to meet such a confident topper.

@HartshorneI guess it went really well for you then. I screwed up in these 2 questions.

The olny plus point I have obseeved with history that with history, those writing superficial answers(some of my seniors) and dealing map portion properly, they were scoring around 260-270..but thats nothing in front of 320-330 scores in many optionals these days(min. Req. For top 100 rank)

@abhishek_pmtlb had they written substantial (content wise) answers then they may had scored well !!

@abhishek_phow much marks out of 50 is equal to dealing properly in maps
