Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.
@BodhgayaHow much did u score in anthro in your prev mains
@pravinshinde3592958the evaluators of visionias strictly stick to the model answers. If points match with model answers then they give 50 percent marks. Otherwise average upto 30 percent. In most of the tests my score was between 90-95 Really don't know how so many people were scoring above 115 in test series.
@zombielandSame here. There were some people regularly scoring above 110. Dont know how. Some of them are cheating which I observed in their good copies it self. One copy had even sub headings similar to that of model answers and even phrases used were same
But there are some who consistently scored well and actually wrote somewhat close to the actual key. Maybe they are vision students or something.
Mains 365 content will get you better marks in Vision tests. Forum notes content will get you better marks in MGP tests. When one writes either of the test series for a long time, if pursuit of marks is the sole aim, then you tend to get institutionalized in their approach. Their rankings system leads to ultra-competitiveness and there is relentless pursuit to score better marks at least to gratify one's ego. Eventually, if you stick to their 'mantras' you start scoring better too. While this may not be bad per se it may not translate to similar results in Mains.
Thus, in my opinion, it may make more sense to give tests across the board (but the issue is affordability again) and stick to one's core notes supplemented with CA content from various institutions. Ultimately, it is about writing relevant content. Last year's AIR 1 seems to have done that. However, when I seesomeof the other toppers' copies, they all seem to have completed the test papers with rich content including properly filling pages. Then the question arises - were they able to replicate the same in the Mains with exam pressure and all that? Did they complete tests strictly in 3 hours while writing Vision tests? I am not very sure.
@Rand_Al_Thorin prelims insight test series some students mug up the solution before attempting test. So the highest marks is more than 180 in most of the tests. May be some students are doing the same in vision mains test series as well.
@millachinI was also surprised to see some of the answer copies. One of the copies was so elaborate it seemed he/she had written each answer in 20 minutes. But that's just what I thought when I compared it with my answers. Sour grapes maybe.
@paranthapijjayes it's very common, people write vision tests for 4+ hours. Some write at home even.
@Deltachal gs 1 ka chod baki papers ka analysis kaise lgga
@Raja123paper 3 and 4 ka analysis kaha aya hai abhi
@sat_009wat abt paper2
@Raja123lol paper 2 without looking at any model answers I'm expecting only 80. If I look at model answers probably I'll change it to 50 or 40
@Raja123agar exam day hi nikalte model answer tab dekhta, ab toh itne dino mein mai unse better model answer nikal sakta hoon
@Raja123paper 2 went fine
@sat_009bhai bhai _/_
@ShubzThis time it would be around 800; History is a tough subject to tackle plus low scores
@AllMightthat is quite a downfall then; as per UPSC annual report in 2016 there were 1400 plus students with history optional;
@AllMightdefinitely....its the toughest amongst the regulars like pol sci,socio,etc to score
Some of my friends have shifted to anthro and even in orn not many non history background ppl could be found with history opt now
