One thing I can say with a little responsibility (I have believed this since a long time though) is that Vision 365 is a complete waste of time for those who need short notes to internalise content (Like me)

Not only UPSC, but any paper won't ask the topics that they have been dumping in the previous 2-3 years. The quality of content is also poor (again saying this with a sense of responsibility)

Those massive booklets have only 3-5 important issues which can anyway be prepared through Test series - I2U2 etc (Reverse engineering).

Another reason I believe for that may be UPSC scanning the popular content booklets both for prelims as well as Mains

I may be wrong in future and I am no authority to pass verdicts but Vision 365 has had very very low output ratio in both Prelims & Mains in all my 4 attempts at this exam. Just want some new entrants reading this to consider this alternate opinion as well because I know people keeping everything aside to just read these booklets. They are NOT AT ALL SACROSANCT (Also don't ask which magazine to read please :P)

Shi pakde hain.

Qsn paper aisa aata hai since last 3 years that it feels you are writing the paper not after years of preparation but impromptu,  making up stuff on the go. Also not to talk about the huge difference between the content that we puke during test series and the content we end up actually writing during exam 🤣

Haven't written the mains & failed two Prelims but I'd agree to this 100%.

Someone who's failed more Prelims than me suggested that rather than relying on these magazines & shortcuts you should actually try to be aware n curious while in prep. He showed me examples that how the locations asked in the maps can be traced from wikipedia pages of UN orgs. & the missions they're undertaking there.

Personally whenever I read a piece of news or just see some random info I can feel that yes this is something which can be asked in exam. But there's no certainty about what's going to be asked in exam & no limitation on imagination powers of a  curious human.

If I start with making notes then someday I'll find very less relevant material while coaching people will have a lot of stuff, which again causes FOMO & end up reading the PDFs.

I'm thinking of genuinely working on Current Affairs not as some study material or something to be mugged up but something to beware of or something which needs to be known. What opinions senior players have on this? Is this a task worth taking the risk?

Agree to everything, but

Actually gs 3 mein iss bar accha khasa vision se tha esp science, agri, environment and security

So outright dismiss karne se better to contain the fomo end to end padho hi mat, index se lelo topics jo lagein of some value and bas 5-6 points bna lo (james webb, vaccine development, maritime sec, agri marketing wagerah wagerah)

Forum ke 2 flts se bhi the 3-4 direct hits

Whenever the paper is on probable lines, these things do help

Agreed totally wrt selective reading but content quality is still poor

Also, With all due respect to your opinion. I personally believe that the overlap is due to questions directly coming from syllabus pointers in GS 3 like cyber security & Maritime

That's not something for which you need 365. It's also present in static books & notes. Also, only 3 to 5 topics are definitely important in Vision. Hence I said low input output ratio 😅

Yeah, I’m not denying that bit, even the content…points weren’t conclusive at all for many topics iss bar toh jitna glance karne mein dekha tha

ethics me sab kuch sahi chal raha tha bas aakhri ek ghanta aur 5 case studies. Pakistan cricket team ki tarah ladkhada gaya waha par. planning sab theek thi, upsc ki case studies ne tevar badal liye. ye cheez mere plan ki contour ke pare thi :(

I don't understand one thing, for 250 words in gs 1 to 3 UPSC gives 3 pages and for same 250 words case study they give around 4.5 pages.

Ab samj hi nahi aata ki word limits me rhe ya pages bhare.
