@Philooptional i just started with article 21 wrote about union carbide case where supreme court uses 142  diwali crackers, maradu flats demolition, supreme court mandated body epca in delhi, stay order halting highway construction through tiger reserves(rajaji).however the question is very specific about case laws and i mentioned only union carbide case so i maybe totally wrong

How important is it to fill pages in the paper? Is it okay if we write 1.5 pages for 10 markers and 2-2.5 for 15 marker. It was my first mains and i am not able to assess my performance.
Also during preparation and general answer writing, how do we even tell what is an “average” answer?
it would be helpful if someone can throw light on this.

I found GS2 also on the tougher side specially the 15 markers. Infact the first question itself felt tough.

@SMR i am really confused whether my approach in the exam was right or not too. Most people suggested to focus on completing the paper . I did accordingly but in the process is feel my answers did not fill up the space given. Even in ethics case studies i wrote 1-1.5 page short of the space given. So mayb quality of answers was lacking

@krishna96 What I feel is that every single question matters...even those are easy.... structure, flow, data, relevance, lucidity etc. Writing atleast 20 questions daily for both gs and optional is must. Have learnt this lesson hard way...but there is no other option. A preparation Unexamined is not worth pursuing I suppose!

@Comedyoferrors same here, my prep before mains was not upto the mark so I felt completing the paper will increase my chances for selection, given the time constraint does people generally maintain good quality in most of the answers, even according to  the solutions provided by coaching instititutes  do people remember all those points in the exam environ.

@Philooptional Apart from relevant articles, I mentioned cases like MC Mehta (Sriram oleum gas leak), Vellore citizen welfare forum, MC Mehta (vehicular pollution) and Godavarman case. Just mentioned the ratio of each one.

Take it with a pinch of salt though as I knew these cases because of my optional. So it was a tough question especially because they were specifically asking for case law.

@SMR hahhaha i also thought the same and have done the same things. For now im just noting down what i remember i have done in each of the papers and then will analyse it when the marks are revealed. I hope i will understand something from that for prep next yr if i dont clear mains this time

Can someone explain what we had to write for Q. 1 GS 2. I can't think beyond maneka Gandhi case and Article 21. It specifically talks on "constitutionalization"

I think Menaka Gandhi was the prime demand. Numerous other cases can be mentioned as examples

@Philooptional maybe ganga given fundamental rights under constitution by HC. Rest 2-3 points can be given where courts protected envt under art 21

But I guess Question was about Supreme Court
