LIVE Session onStrategic Mistakes and Handling Tricky Questions

LIVE Session for filling up DAF 2 | CSE 2020

Hello All,

So the last time I create a TG for Interview prep we saw some good discussions. However, the group has little archival value, by which I means discussions that happen are not archived on the Internet forever - which is something we need for Civils prep - or at least for the community.

This thread is created by ME circa 2021 to be "The Interview Group"

I am also working on a guide for Interview Preparation - which is kinda here

And a very interesting hobby discussion thread here

I'm attaching the relevant hobby (watching wildlife docus) related Q&A here.

M2 : So you like watching Wildlife documentaries. Have you seen “Born Free”?
A : Born free? Is that a documentary?<>
M2 : Yes yes, leave you haven’t watched it. Do you know about Serengiti National park. You know a very famous event takes place there?
A : Yes sir, it is a very beautiful sight, The Wildebeest Migration. It’s the migration of buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests after the Okavango basin dries up during summer.
M2 : Yes, these animals don’t recognize any boundaries and move freely. Do you know across which 2 countries they migrate?
A : Sir I believe they migrate across Tanzania and Kenya.
M2 : They move in large groups. There are lions also in Serengiti. Do you know what a group of lions is
called?
A : Sir it’s called a pride of lions.
M2 : Yes, and do you know if lions are found anywhere outside Africa?
A : Sir the Asiatic lion is found outside Africa. It is found only in India in Gir, Gujarat. It also used to be found in Iran.
M2 : Leave Iran, but lions are found only in Gujarat in India?
A : Yes sir.
M2 : Are you sure they are not found anywhere else?
A : Sorry sir, none that I can think of.

Rest of the interview followed from here onwards.

It's a drama film, no? But good example of how it's futile to correct board's mistakes.

@ssver2 it does not appear as a  mistake by the board member. He didn't say that it was a documentary. He made a statement and asked a question. Not necessary for the statement and question to be linked.

My roommate gave CAPF interview this year. He had mentioned Sufi music/ Qawwali in the hobbies section. He says they asked following questions-

1. Did Sufi tradition originate in India or came from abroad?

2. Features of Qawalli- what is Alap, why it is sang in a group etc. (He thinks one of the members was looking up the internet to frame questions, so he suggests reading the first two search pages related to these topics)

3. Famous Qawalli group? Why is it more popular in Pakistan and not so in India?

4. Do you see the influence of Sufi in Bollywood? Where?

@Steph_Curry actually in UP PCS interview they asked me what is your hobby (hobby is not mentioned in their form).I told them listening hindi songs and ghazal .They asked about difference between ghazal and qawwali. Who is regarded as father of qawwali tradition in India. Name of ghazal writer, singers. Which is your favorite ghazal? Who wrote it? Asked to recite any famous ghazal of Amir Khusrau and song of Miramari.
When I told I can't sing they asked me just to recite few lines.

@Kunjbihari Thanks

I feel listening to sufi music/ghazal/qawwali is just one aspect which will not help much in answering theoretical questions if asked.

This video was very helpful in learning about ghazals. I am searching for more such sources. Share if you find any.
