Here we are doing PhD on questions and this is what our future bosses think about us. UPSC bhi sayad aise hi sochta hai isliye quality of paper is declining over the years. Paradoxically every other day we get to hear one or other Babu being hired at top position by Pvt sector like phonepe or even Facebook india.

Do give your views on lateral entry - 9 to 31 to what next ?? Has babudom become the deep state ?

Indeed babudom was and is the deep state. It was always. Point is

1. We have closed bureaucracy system.

2. We have committed bureaucracy.

3. We have issues in politico-bureacratic relationship. Either it is as bad as khemka or become nexus.. Of course some are good but they cant fight collusion.

4. IAS association is itself a new elite club which protects the interest of IAS as a service along with its members. IAS association has  brought but not pushed and advocated any honest reforms to cut the red tape, Make burecrats not to act Like god(kabhi kabhi lagta hai apan hi khuda h).

5. The DM as an institution dont want to delegate powers to democratic institution like Muni and PRI. (Though state have to do this by law but you know nexus). Imagine if Institution of DM is accountable to mayor for not doing any gud work ... in turn DM as institution will be accountable to immediate public .

This institution has upwards accountability to boss both burecratic and political.. but No instrument of acc in hand of public to held a rogue bureaucrat accountable. Lokpal was a paper tiger 🤣

6. Closed nature of bureaucracy in India - Once you get in you are all govt have. Even if u never update your skill even you are non efficient... You are never go to be fired in average case.

The bureaucracy should be open at senior level. It should not be captive of Babus hired by UPSC. UPSC should start opening more and more admin position in SCS(senior civil service) to be hired from Pvt sector or anywhere. We need talent, expertise and proficiency in admin in 21st century ... and of course ....The regular bureaucracy hired by UPSC ... is  the average talented lot in long run(read about Peters plateau)  in a big organization like Government.

@singlanitesh23707 check google map also.. Chenab meets indus directly. Even question was saying meeting of 3 other rivers. So in that case, ravi Sutlej and jhelum meets chenab only which meets indus directly

In Khullar , which is supposed to be  standard text book for Geography optional, it is clearly mentioned that Sutlej meets Indus after receiving combined water of three other rivers.

I think people do prepare these stuffs from standard textbooks and not from websites, youtube videos etc.

But if UPSC do gives Chenab as answer then only God can save future aspirants reading standard textbooks for this exam.

check in ncert. tht is gold standard.

@Phantom It always happens. UPSC playing the wrong ball. They should stick. to syllabus and set guidelines . They should introduce randomness within the zone of syllabus but asking anything like roger fedrar or virat kohli etc. is making aspirants pessimistic in hard work which they always put in by self study.

Federer is well know mega star. It has lots of fans in India including politicians, businessman and film stars. there are other too , imagine if they ask about little less known one like Murray or Wawrinka. Other reason for doing this is to counter coaching material and youtubers. UPSC might bring a different randomness in year 2022.

No doubt Fedrar is mega star which I know and. u know as we have quite a good exposure of things.

. But .. I have said about candidates preparing at places like patna, allahabad , Pune , Bhopal .. who barely gathered money and sources and full focused on study with meagre resources . A level playing field should be ensured by UPSC .

Any randomness which snatches the chances of students who stands at the under privileged end ... is not good.

Except 10-12 direct factual questions the whole paper seems to be debatable. Honestly not exaggerating!

.i suffer from adhd ( a mental and reading disorder),it got misdiagnosed as bipolar for almost 8 years and my symptoms got further worse due to wrong meds attempted upsc from 2015 to 2017 but failed as I was naive and ignorant preparing from home ,believing in bullshit online advice and lack of consistency  due to my mental health issues.got burnt out and buried my hopes recognising my limitations.found out it was adult adhd this year and from there(Feb)I started preparing again with pyqs, cmpltly ignoring readymade materials and mock tests as tabs helped me to get the motivation to read .ran out of it in the last month and stopped reading for the 20 days .got shocked by the new pattern, messed it up due to lack of revision.,getting 88 (obc)in worst case scenario as I forgot whether I marked few qstns (around 6 ) .thinking of first landing a job through state psc or moving out to England for study through my brother who would be moving there next year.just wanted to blurt it out due to anxiety and cause I have never seen people like me in the forum.in the exam hall no one is willing to talk even in the break.one who did talk told paper is too balanced and I m the one under delusion, lol.sorry ,if anyone feels mogged by negativity.

I believe cutoff would be around 85 but from upsc keys.i think around 6 qstns would vary.high cutoff prediction is made due to the euphoria one gets from coaching keys.
