[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

I am a non-serious aspirant because I am afraid what if I contract COVID at one of the exam centres where people will come from several districts. I do not have a car where I can sit down peacefully and safely during the two-hour break(last year prelims, in the two-hour break some 40-50 odd aspirants like me were sitting on the ground under the only tree shade we could find in the north Indian scorching heat)I will have to take that infection to my house where my old parents reside with one having diabetes and other high blood pressure. I have a small house, no distancing whatsoever. What if my parents' contract COVID? My family does not have 2-3 lacs to spend on treatment.  Whatever little we had, has dried up in this lockdown.
Yes, I am a non-serious aspirant because I want my mother and father to be safe.

@Capedcrusader

both are almost two different concept however indirectly dependent as both are  key idicators of health of economy.

if there is FD of more than 6 percent then obviously debt obligation of country will increase and then it will spend more money on debt servicing reducing its developmental expenditures.... and  it will impact the investment sentiments... that will impact your  export in goods and services as well as remittances...

overall both are interdependent.

same here..i am also a non serious aspirant as i am diabetic and so scared of this pandemic..dont have the privilege of personal room to quarantine myself..elders at my place have age related medical issues..this pandemic has hit people differently ...

its surprising to see that so many people who are civil service aspirants being totally apathetic to others trials and tribulation..not everyone has the privilege of personal car, or advantage of living in urban city where even during lockdown necessary resources were pretty much at their disposal.

their  indifference appals me.

do you think if jee, neet are deferred(chances of which are very less) , it will have a bearing on upsc prelims?

Many millionaries , mla, mp, ministers , high level beaurocrats, influentional NRIs and overseas indians have invested in medical and engineering colleges . It is very difficult and almost impossible unless pmo i.e modi himself come to interfear . No judge , ministers , officer can make such a powerful lobby his enemy .

@rafael acc to me it will be deferred by 2-3 months ( rare possibility)....on one side govt claiming that vaccine within 73 days nd on one side exams ....if they want to commit a crime ,thn it should be organised atleast ..... M happy atleast these young chaps will be familiar with ugly face of politics .... democracy without criticism is useless

Yaar kuchh observation hai..aise hi time pass..(i dont comment much on threads though)..

1.anybody here on forum talking about postponement of prelims is being branded as non serious aspirant

2.A poll on telegram of supposedly “serious candidates“ wants the exam to be held on 4th oct.

With all due respect bhai log, postponing the exam is the right thing to do for now. The entire logic would converge to this. I am not talking about the political aspect of it, let the government take care of it. My entire concern is with regard to “ we the aspirants of upsc”. They are two:

1. By what logic do the supposedly “serious candidates” want prelims on 4th oct

2. why are those declared as “non serious” upon talking about exam postponement when by all logic it is the only sane thing to do.

Is it because “ exam hokr rahenge” has become the majority opinion so we are all aligning our own opinion accordingly? Shouldnt there be enough space for counter opinions esp when it is logical as well. At least for the sake of forum leave alone democracy 🤓🤓

100% agree. I don't understand -anyone who is talking about postponement is being branded as a non serious aspirant.

Some random poll on telegram doesn't justify the voice of aspirants. If we are going by this then around 15000 have signed for postponement on change.org

Even if i were to assume that telegram poll is ok. Then wht abt those 37% people?!! They want postponement, you can't just sideline those 37% . I think many are not familiar with the ground reality.

Well let's see there is 1 more meeting of NTA on 25th aug.(not sure abt this) Let's see what they conclude this time. However NTA & Education ministry & our poet of modern India has given a formal statement that exams will be held.

Moreover there was some guy Nair i guess who uploaded the same notice (like it was just edited here n there) before NTA issued the formal statement abt exams being held on the given dates. This news made many rounds and also people questioned abt the Nexus b/w coaching mafias & NTA

but why do you want to appear on 4 oct, posing risk to everyone in family ?
Why not to prepare effectively and patiently for 27 June 2021.
Everyone has their own compulsion to appear or not to appear in exam.  But choice should be made and respected.

Cos  it might be the last attempt of some students owing to age/other criteria and do not have the luxury/chance to give up this attempt and appear next year where they won't be eligible to appear on 27 June 2021. For some students it will be a do and die attempt.
