[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

@Thor_vs_Hulk why can't it be 2-1-4-3

Pratiharas rose under Bhoja l.  The earlier bhoj was not a sovereign king i think.

For example it is accepted that guptas rose under Chandragupta l although the non sovereign founder was Ghatotkacha(father of chandragupta l)

But again Upsc gets to decide. Someone has listed the source above.. Going by that it should be 2413

Question has asked rise of pratihara. So I think it should be first bhoj of 7th century.

But all these I noted only after exam.

Great observation .... Looks like UPSC keys will be a shocker this time .... Bhoja and bhoja 1 are two different people indeed

Bhoja 1 is also known by the name of Mihir bhoj.

I know .... But remember the Wellesley card upsc played in 2018 .... Though question clearly mentions mahendrVrm 1 , parantaka 1 but not bhoja ... Though the odds are not in our favour , there are slim chances depending on how UPSC interprets the statement " Rise of pratiharas "

These are the reasons there are always one or two shocker in upsc key. But we can't say anything.

That's why many experts have the option that we have a disharmonic system. We say something, mean something else, do something. If they can't translate properly just have questions in English only. Wrong translation is fraud on students who prepare in Hindi. I am no supporter of hindi over any other vernacular language. However if they provide in hindi it should be proper.

Thought of taking 4 month leave without pay for this mains, but it feels that csat may not allow me to clear prelim. All I can say is take leave ASAP, and start preparation for mains in full fledged mode. For the last 3 mains you might have made a list of not to do things in exam. Just do it man. I am in same situation, have given 3 mains, 1 interview. Everytime there was improvement in my mains preparation. So one thing I can tell with surity, make a not to do list for mains and just aim at it, it helps.

Prelims has become unpredictable and tougher atleast since last three years, either of GS or CSAT. Myself , started in 2015 , having written mains twice, victim of CSAT in 2017 , and now struggling with prelims since last 2 attempts with full-fledged preparation . I can't blame UPSC fully, but to a bit yes on uncertainty in GS paprr. So guys, its risky to leave job for long years especially amid current pre trend..just own experience..

Agreed with you, with such pre papers, it is too risky to leave job.

Exam has become way too competitive now. Everyone reads the same stuff, so many youtube channels spoon feeding aspirants. There's a channel which gives the Hindu summary in 5 minutes 😂. It's obvious upsc made such a different paper, I believe mains would be the same.

My Personal Experience here. I started my UPSC journey in June 2014. Gave Prelims in 2015, post results i picked up some skills in 3 months and landed up in Job in 2016.

In 2016 I cleared prelims, gave mains and missed interview by 6 marks.

Within a years time, I got another job in Indonesia with a very good salary and designation.

2017 did not give UPSC

2018 Passed prelims and failed Mains with 23 marks gap (Was still working in Indonesia)

2019 failed prelims (Was working) gave CAT, joined IIM B

In 2019 switched to another company with 2x salary

Now I am doing MBA and still working with my company remotely (2 years PGP fee is less than my 1 years take home)

Next year I will be giving without any fear, as it is unpredictable

My suggestion to all would be try to spend 2 years of your life for UPSC, post that you try to gain some skills whic will feed your tummy not mugging history / geography with which you neither get job nor a degree

TIME IS VERY VALUABLE, USE IT WISELY
