CSE 2021: Plan / Strategy / Daily Routine

Hello 2021 aspirants. I thought it would be nice if we can share what we are doing and intend to do with one another here.

This could be a thread for discussing everything prep for 2021.

No one method fits all but to see the plans and progress made by fellow aspirants might help with the finer details of preparation and also keep one on track.

Moderator Update: This thread has crossed 1 million views and has thousands of comments slowing down the website. We are closing this and moving to the next thread

1. Newspaper done

2. Ca backlog is still a backlog

3. Tried to revise two chapters of optional. Would have completed it  Entirely if my stupid palm didn't start hurting.

Is it just me Or does someone else also go through this? Pain in the hand and wrist???

Hi. Sorry for the unsolicited advise, but consider dropping the CA backlog thing. Just do today's CA and read some monthly compilation in the end (to cover missed days).  :speak_no_evil:

No no this is not unsolicited at all. In fact this is exactly I should do. It's almost July now.

Your comment has given me a new perspective which I knew of but wasn't practising. Thanks ;)

Don’t know if it’s helpful or not, but I managed to get through 10 months of backlog in a month. It killed me but it is doable if you really really want to. Do it only if you feel the need to do so, otherwise the monthly compilations works just as well

Extremely busy week at work, since it’s a quarter ending. The problem with working remotely is that colleagues have no sense of boundaries. They call and email frantically, and sometimes at odd hours of the night. The goal for the week is to avoid escalations and get by unscathed. I do that by telling people that I understand the pressure they’re under, that I’m there to help, and actually following through. Can’t do that if I allow myself to be overwhelmed by the stress I’m under. So, it’s a light couple of days. 2 hours of IPR per day, if I can manage that. Being able to meet even small targets is liberating, and allows me to keep my stress in control. I’ll try my best. :)

Have a productive day, my people. :)

I am supposed to be joining a job in August first week. There is slim chance of getting an extension in joining. Last week, I was very anxious due to the time crunch I will have to face along with the issues of living away from home . Your posts motivate me that I too might be able to  manage somehow.. 😁👍

Keep on keepin on, brother :)

Done with everything for the day friends. I honestly dont know if I’m doing enough, if I should push myself further. I think I’ve come to associate an honest day’s worth of work with feeling dead tired and head throbbing. But now I’m able to stick to my targets (for the most part) and going to bed satisfied and i feel is it because I’m sticking to my targets, or consistently underachieving? Dilemmas that will never be solved, i suppose.

Enough bread for the day, now off to bed. Good night gentle folks of forum :)

You know what they say. The bread is browner on the other side.

Hahaha true. I’m sticking with the regular white stuff. Toast karne pe woh bhi brown hi lagta hain

Ya. White and brown are all the same. Give peace a chance, amirite?

I am still into the 2020 cycle, so not the right post, but motivation here feels so right to do work as I have been chillin' (wasting time) since February with no accountability whatsoever. Now, a month away from the day so peak anxiety. Time to get the house in order.

June 30

1. Explained - June

2. Environment CA + basics

3. Graduation questionnaire

4. Prisoners of Geography - USA China

5. Discussion

Ok, bye!

Hello. I don't know if it's the right place to post, but I just wanted to know how to prepare Modern Algebra. If there any aspirants with Mathematics optional, kindly answer. TIA.

Good morning folks of forum! Its the last day of the month. The gyms are finally open again, so i feel good good good! Targets for 30.6.21:

ethics- Note making

PSIR- google stuff for paper 2

Editorial- IE+ Hindu

July 2020 C/A (1/2)

CSAT

Daily C/A

Write with my right hand

Let’s get this bread folks!!!!

Done for the day. PSIR could have been better, I should have started earlier. I’m sure I could push for another 15 minutes, but I’m not going to get anything substantial done and I’ll be in constant anguish about that. So off to unwind and go to sleep instead. Tomorrow is a new day. Happy studying folks!

Good morning fellows. Target for yesterday more or less achieved.

Targets for 29/06/21

  1. Newspaper
  2. June CA backlog
  3. Revise two chapters of Optional
  4. Try to read one more chapter of optional

I figure out I work more if I keep track of the number of hours I have studied. So will target the same for today.
Good luck to all :)

It could be tendinitis if it is acute. Ice compress karke dekho if it helps

I am sorry but my mind was like "And it could be sitinidnet if it is obtuse." I am sorry. Very Sorry.

Was away due to some personal issues. Keen to get back into the right mindspace and study like a freak :P

Will start slow, the key is to keep moving ahead everyday.

Targets:

  • Real Analysis PYQs (2/3)
  • Newspaper

So I did study in the first half but then something happened with my laptop giving me the perfect escape. Didn't do anything hardcore UPSC in the second half, instead I read up random IR articles!

Targets:

  • Real Analysis PYQs (3/4)
  • Newspaper
  • Society Notes/Vision Monthly

I'm confused about when exactly to start prelims preparation. That will decide what I choose between Society and CA tomorrow. How are you all planning the shift to prelims prep?

Guys. I’m taking a break from being active on Forum.

@AzadHindFauz and@whatonly, all the very best for your interviews. I genuinely hope that you both make the cut. Lots of love and hugs.@AzadHindFauz , always remember that if you must choose between UPSC and your beloved football thread, do the right thing brother. :P@whatonly,the amount of respect I have for you is crazy. Let nothing ever dim your shine, my friend. I’ve seen you grow so much over the past year, and I hope you will keep doing that.

@MaeveWiley , October 10 will be your day. I recall all of our conversations. Especially the first one and the one after last prelims. Thank you for reaching out to me when I needed it the most. I will forever be grateful.  This time, you will be sure after prelims. I know it in my heart. Make sure you make the prelims victory count. Onwards and upwards, my friend.

@SergioRamos,remember your comment on the interview thread. You know which one I’m talking about. I feel you have a very sound understanding of the exam and it’s just a matter of time till you actually follow through on the things you know you can do, to your satisfaction. Keep working on it. You’ve got this.

@Sherkhan1428 , you were a vibe when you were active, my man. I’ve missed reading your comments. If you read this, I hope you’re in a good place mentally.

@Reticent @thepolicydreamer, @Alexandersupertramp,thank you for reaching out to me when I was in the dumps. I hope you are all keeping well and your families are safe. Keep working on yourselves and your goals. Keep your head above the water, and remember to breathe. Do the little things right, my friends. It’s easy to forget the progress that you have made. Don’t make that mistake.

@thesleepyhead @chamomile @Loxodonta  I’ve interacted very little with you all, but all of your personal messages came to me at a time when I really needed someone to give me a hand. I found support from you all when I was shattered inside and was trying to put on a brave face. Thank you for reaching out.

@nerdfighter ,@sjerngal Keep working on fighting the pain, you guys. It doesn’t necessarily get any easier, but we shall refuse to give up and keep soldiering on. We owe that to ourselves.

@Villanelle I cannot count the number of times I have openly laughed seeing your comments. And yesterday, you topped it with that wholesome comment about your mother. I am a little intimidated by you and the width of your reading to be honest. There’s so much swagger about you, and that makes you one of the pseudonyms from this platform that I most want to get to know in person. Thank you for bringing joy to my life in whatever way you could.

@LetsGetThisBread , as a wise person once said, today may be bed but tomorrow will be butter. There’s so much life in all of your comments, and that has such a ripple effect. Even if you feel you aren’t making progress on a certain day, always remember to be grateful that you have invariably brought a smile to at least one stranger’s face every single day.

@ssver2 and@Joeyisthebest , I’ll see you idiots on the TG group soon enough. :P Optional isn’t truly optional without you two.

I’m sure I’ve missed so many people who have had an impact on my life through this platform over the past year. The above list has been impacted by recency bias of course. So, I hope you can forgive me if I’ve missed you.

The beauty of this platform is that it is built on the kindness of strangers. There’s so little in the world that is like that. I’ve said this before and l’ll say it again. I see infinite beauty in you all.

And with that, I take your leave. Thank you for playing the significant part that you have played in my story. I’ve been more open with you than I have been to most of my closest friends. Thank you for being the light that I was so desperate to find.

I hope to see you all again on the other side. I hope to have stories and experiences to tell you, and I look forward to the little glimpse of your wonderful lives that you may choose to share with me. When you feel down, whatever the reason, know that somewhere in the World, a Patootie wishes you well and cares for you deeply.

Patootie out.
