@D503 Im not an insider and im sure of nothing.Neither do i comment regularly.
Based on convergence of various information,it seems any day between 26 to 29 can be the result day.Just wishing everyone luck and asking resting nervous minds to gear up for mains preparation.

So much doubtful questions this year will cause huge swing in someone's marks either in his favour or against. Luck has now become a deciding factor in clearing prelims apart from your hardwork. All the best to everyone and congratulations to all who will clear pre.

With respect to the Moss, Lichen Question:

All the options givencanbe seen growing on a surface without soil. However the word "most likely" makes the difference.

Mushroom being a fungus can grow in most environments. In fact, most of them act as decomposers too. Even the microscopic fungi that we see on bread after the expiry date is acting as decomposers.

Moss and Lichen share the same habitat. Lichen needs moisture to survive as it cannot store water. Mosses on the other hand can store water which Lichens use for survival if they co-exist. However, Lichens can survive without moss as well provided the place is moist.

Most of the ferns are epiphytes.

However, consider other factors which affect their habitat.

For e.g. Lichen is pollution sensitive and tends to avoid dry places. Hence, one rarely sees Lichen in cities. On the other hand Fern, Moss, Fungi all can grow in challenging environments.

Having said that, it is up to UPSC to decide what to give as the correct answer for this question.

Is upsc mains copy checked by a single evaluator or different experts evaluate different sections?

Refer to this official Document of UPSC. It lays down the procedure for evaluation of Mains QCA booklets.
Read Question number 55 onwards.

There is something hidden as well. I have observed many of my friends marks. I noted that in all papers for particular candidate is more or less on parity. For example my general studies marks last year were almost similar in all gs papers 82,84,83. I have observed the same trend in many aspirants marks

bro this is because more than content (beyond a certain level) how we are attempting the paper matters the most. For example, I got marks around 80s in 2019 mains. I changed the approach of attempting questions and marks increased to 95 to 100. So, I believe that since we have particular kind of approach which is same for all papers so we get similar marks.

However, you can find if someone is extremely good in any paper then this trend gets violated.

Completely agree with you brother. It’s 50% about content and 50% about pattern of writing and approach. I recognised this when my friends who are very fresh and lacks content have decent scores. Now thought of changing the answer writing style a bit. However my handwriting is pretty decent. But the marking is beyond just handwriting

Can you elaborate on changing approach thing? I mean your before and after approach leading to increase in score.

So one examiner checks the whole copy. Wonder if the model answer arrived by them is just a simple para containg the essence of the question  and anyone who writes around that essence gets the marks regardless of no. Of points written or pictures drawn .
