@Fulcrum @babu_bisleri Also indus water treaty mentions that panjnad ( chenab and sutlej joins to form panjnad) to be a part of chenab.. it means chenab meets indus directly according to this..

https://mea.gov.in/bilateral-documents.htm?dtl/6439/Indus

Indus water treaty was mentioned in the Question ? NO

@babu_bisleri if you look at the question it has specifically been mentioned from amongst the options three river pour into one....so irrespective of which all river pour into which river, we have to limit ourselves to the one given in the options

the question must have  been  directly taken from a source ...majid hussain, khullar and one patna university ppt along with pmfias verbatium quote that satluj- "During its onward journey  receives the collective drainage of the Ravi, Chenab and Jhelum rivers. It joins the Indus a few kilometres above Mithankot."

ps :debating on answers is a futile exercise i would suggest everyone to assume all doubtful answers as wrong while calculating scores.. imo 95+ is a safe score this year

I think this settles it. It indeed is Chenab. Because the whole doubt reflected around what is Panjnad - Satluj or Chenab.

I have marked Satluj as answer though.

@AureliusM as per central water commission report it is sutlej which meets indus direct.

For the rivers question, if sutlej has to be the answer then ravi and jhelum should also meet in sutlej(as given in the 1st statement of the question) but that is not the case

I hope this is true

Check Google Earth and Pakistan maps, all shows Chenab meets indus

But then the question also mentions which is the one which meets the Indus directly. That is from some sources Satluj and from others Chenab. So only the paper setter knows the answe.

@AureliusM That is true. Only UPSC decides and it's better to stop discussing such questions now

Hi my dear forumite,
Don't lose any hope...
With 6th prelims experience of this year and past experience of getting 149.33 official score in 2016... I can say confidently that anything above 85 is pretty safe to start for mains preparation.

Don't waste anytime for keys of other institutes.

All the best

Ray of hope..

🙏🙏

@HeNeArKr csat asaan laga kya aapko, or you have very strong apti, I mean people are struggling for qualifying marks and you are getting double the qualifying marks.. 😄😀

Bro.. Csat was tough its just that I have cleared Cat before so I was having an advantage. Even then my strategy was not to touch the RC questions. Araam se 50-60 quant or reasoning kro hojayga clear. Rcs to were even a notch higher than CAT(mtlb saare hi inference based). I don't know how would one from a non maths background could get 66 + marks with a month of prep. Kyuki RC to UPSC ke alava shayad hi koi use shi answer kr paaye :p

I'm getting 11 wrong out of 16 attempted reading comprehension...

Hi guys.

Many of you have shared your experience with Upsc preparation and how their journey was. I would also like to share my story and would like if any of you have any piece of advice for me.

I have done a professional course from IP University, Delhi and graduated in the year 2017 and as I wasn't eligible for 2017 so, my first attempt came in the year 2018 but unfortunately I didn't make into the mains list. This year was my 4th attempt. In 2020, I scored well above cutoff marks but unable to qualify for mains because of CSAT. So, I tried to give one more attempt this year and unfortunately, I might not get into mains. I have dedicated my 4 to 5 years of crucial & productive age to this exam but without any success. When I entered into this exam process, I was very clear that I will give only 2 or at max 3 attempts to this exam but not more than that. And when I didn't make into mains list in my first attempt, I got disheartened. I used to think ki atleast I will qualify for mains but unfortunately not. But somehow I remained stuck in this exam.l process.

Even before entering into this exam process, I got very attached with this exam, as I used to consider subjects like history, polity and economics are my strength as I really loved reading them and I used to thought that I will definitely come out with flying colours. And this was one of the reason why I opted not to pursue BTech and instead pursued a course which was dominated by humanities subjects.

This UPSC journey has impacted me in more than one ways. Apart from knowledge which I gained through this journey, I also gained certain traits. TBVH, these traits will be much more helpful in future endeavours than the knowledge which I gained. People generally created a hype around the exam process by saying you will get sheer knowledge even if you didn't make into the list but I think this knowledge isn't necessarily to be useful in every other professions but definitely the traits one acquired through this journey will always be helpful irrespective of wherever one will be. Although this exam was process very tiring and exhaustive for me as for any other aspirants but for me this process also got very painful and anxiety become part of my life especially after my 2nd attempt and yet this journey gave me confidence to accept certain things about myself and helped me better understanding of myself and this was one of biggest impact upsc has made on me.

Anyway !! I'm still very attached to upsc and wanted to give one more attempt but it would be very foolish to take "don't give up" approach literally without having any back-up option. So, my UPSC journey is coming to an end for the time being and will resume it only when I will secured a decent and good alternative career.

I will always cherish this journey and TBVH, I have no anguish against UPSC as such. Now is the time to look for other career alternative and I would like your piece of advice if anyone of you have.

Thank you guys !! I will always remember this community.

Peace !!

Can someone share their opinion on Forum csat key ? In my opinion except for 1/2 Qn ,they are good

With doubtful considered negatives ,I'm scoring in 80~81 range in forum csat key and Vajiram csat key.      The same cannot be said about shankar csat initial key (where my scores hovers around 70s)

I would normally not fear with these range but I don't remember exactly whether did I leave or attend two questions in exam 😐, that's why I'm in confused state

Guys, have you all come to any conclusion regarding the pressure cooker question? Can you guys explain why the size of the hole would matter?

Completely devastated after getting 2 conceptual Ncert level questions wrong: essential federal feature and best protector of liberty...

@Tempo_High_Hain the extent of pressure rise inside the cooker depends upon the weight of the deadweight(siti)covering the hole, as soon as the required pressure is reached the excess pressure is released by lifting off of deadweight, so heavier the deadweight, more pressure inside cooker- more temperature at which food cooks.

now deadweight is exterting a downward force equal to its weight, to lift that weight we would need a counter force which would be provided by the pressure inside the cooker, however, pressure multiplied by area is equal to force which would eventually lift the deadweight. so pressure multiplied by area of hole equals counter force to lift the siti, which eventually maintains the pressure to a set level, which in turn decides the temperature at which food cooks.
