[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021
Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

irrespective of the SOP i personally think that the discretion lies with the supervisor in the exam hall.....just like they check the type of watch wore by aspirants to determine if the watch is digital or analog..... of course the two situations cannot be compared but i think you got my point....

Oh yes, you still have to wear mask and carry a small transparent bottle of sanitizer with you- 50-100ml

Anybody knows what UPSC says about masks, do they provide it or we could bring our own masks ?

True....but what an irony...we ourselves cannot follow SOPs, how is everyone so confident about the SOPs
During UP - PCS prelims in dec 2019 at my centre they weren't even allowing anyone a wrist watch. I had to convince them that analog watches are okay, only digital watches are not allowed. In the end they allowed. But yes you are right depends upon the centre, most are lenient.

Happened with me during UPSC 2019 Prelims. The invigilator couldn't distinguish between a digital and an analog watch. This happened during the exam. Ended up creating a scene and me losing a good 5-10 mins of the 2 hours.
This would be scene regarding masks and face shields with many, this year, for sure. And god forbid, if the invigilator tries to be dumb and not allow the N95 mask, then the SOPs and Heaven be with us :D
GaryVee,MaxBlackDid anyone give any mock with mask on? I did, it was really uncomfortable...2 hrs was a very long time, had to pull down the mask like everyone in the bazaar to breathe. Forget the fogging on spectacles, the mask becomes moist and starts smelling too and it doesn't help if you chew some mouth freshner.
Man have to really get used to this. Or maybe they should arrange seating with a good enough distance.

I suffer from frequent breathlessness. And this was the problem i was asking few people the other day. I don't know if anyone else gets a headache but man , my headache starts if I continously wear a mask for more than 10 min. For 2 hours toh I will have both breathing problem as well as headache. Let's see if they allow face shield, for now trying to adapt to sit for 2 hrs with a mask. Which I clearly see is not working. And the fogging wah wah. Its as if you are on some hill station in a car. ya toh keep removing glasses or keep removing masks.

@MaxBlack try wearing simple surgical two fold mask while giving exam and n95 while commuting to center. SOPs don't explicitly mention that you have to wear n95 mask.
Yes I tried with that only, problems faced i have stated them.

Bhai ..upsc barely bow down to such pressures....had there been Rahul gandhiat helm of affairs then may be it was possible . Example 2 extra attempts ... NDA will not touch upsc ..
well a little disagreement here..bjp has not respected autonomy of independent institutions.if anything there has been further erosion of institutional autonomy..classic example is judiciary..so if rahul gandhi can make upsc give 2 extra attempts , then bjp for sure can make UPSC postpone these exams for a few months because of pandemic...par mudda upsc ka nahi sarkar ka hi hai..they are in no mood of further delaying anything..
