This is an everything thread for all stuff 2022. You can post your daily goals, end-of-the-day updates, weekly targets or any weird thing you use to measure your progress. You can put into words & post the soul-sucking sadness that is threatening to devour you & your productivity. You can write what made your day & let others experience the happiness too, at least vicariously. This is a thread to pick each other up. This is a thread to keep each other accountable. This is a no-judgement zone.

“This is one more piece of advice I have for you: don't get impatient. Even if things are so tangled up you can't do anything, don't get desperate or blow a fuse and start yanking on one particular thread before it's ready to come undone. You have to realize it's going to be a long process and that you'll work on things slowly, one at a time.”

Since the calendar was messed up last year with prelims in October, what would be a reasonable time period for current affairs to prepare for coming prelims? I know they ask questions for a 2-3 year old news as well but I’m asking generally, as in MUST do time period ? June to May?
I personally won't be investing too much time on current affairs. I've found that it's usually not worth the time and effort for me. So thinking of doing June '21 to March' 22 monthlies.
If the FOMO gets high, I might read through last year's CA notes. But won't spend more than a day on that.
Baaki I'll keep reading newspaper throughout (as long as I can). And will supplement with CA questions from whatever tests I'll give.
Hopefully this will prove enough.
2 saal k 365 padhti (which I actually did to be honest) tab bhi shayad Water credit, St Xavier, Right to city types question solve nahi ho paate 😅 but to each their own, I’ll try doing from Jan 2021, as you suggested. Thank you :)

I agree with you 100%... I personally think it is time that people should stop obsessing over current affairs.. I know people who did Current affairs for the past 3 years as well for this year's prelims... but cost benefit ratio is too bad..
Beyond a point there should not be a pre-occupation with monthly/yearly magazines and compilations and current affairs..
This time they asked questions on sports.. next time they may ask questions on bollywood/hollywood... who knows??? There is no end to current affairs...
So, I believe one must give it as much importance as it deserves..
PErsonally, I will be doing exactly what you have mentioned... current: static revision ratio for me will be 1:3..
@DM I get your point but sorry to say, I think overemphasis on current affairs se bhi nahi hoga. IN my opinion, quality should matter. For example, I had studied about the Mitakshara and Dayabhaga when the Hindu succession act judgment came out but only the part which talks about daughter’s inheritance and not anything else , so I got confused while solving it.2 saal k 365 padhti (which I actually did to be honest) tab bhi shayad Water credit, St Xavier, Right to city types question solve nahi ho paate 😅 but to each their own, I’ll try doing from Jan 2021, as you suggested. That i can understand and agree to.
Mai to kahunga prelims in my opinion static part sai vhi clear ho jayga.
Agar kisi ko padhna hi hai
But mai mains ko leke bola sirf prelims clear karnae sai to kucch nahi hoga.
Mains kai liye mujhse lagta hai issue based current affairs karna hi chahiye 2 saal ka.
Mai to prelims kai liye jyada overemphasize karna current ko bahut bara danger ho jayga. 🤪
@Thunderstorm I don’t think ‘lender of the last resort’ is to be taken literally. It’s more a conceptual phrase used in the context of RBI. So, RBI only uses the phrase in content of lending to ‘banks’, specifically. We had this in our school economics books, that’s why i remembered. You can check on their website as well. https://www.rbi.org.in/scripts/FS_Overview.aspx?fn=2758For govt lending it uses the phrase ‘banker to the government’.This is very to similar to the committed judiciary question where many of us took it literall6 and thought that committed judiciary means committed to its role when actually the phrase is used in a context- committed to the government.
Bro are you sure that "Banker to the govt" is the right phrase? I remember reading somewhere, I guess in Vivek Singh's book that correct phrase should be that RBI acts as "Debt Manager" for the govt.
Done with whatsoever left topics of Mains (still left with many :/). Now time to gearup for Prelims only.

Is Forum's Red book for Environment a good substitute for Shankar IAS Book?
Any other suggestions for effectively covering environment portion? Environment section was disastrous for me in the last prelims.
Yes it's good, however there are certain topics such as global agreements ,commitment, iucn status ,legislations etc that would require you to use internet and open source reading+value add them with vision monthlies. anything outside these sources should not bother you in the real exam. During final revisions only do high yielding topics, pyq will help you narrow down them.
.
