Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.
@ChanakyaHope so yr. Let’s see if ews could also give some push this time.
@pra7009055ews ke kitne hai kuch pata hai apko
@vvvikas0078212Bhai it was do or die situation. Had put all energy. And honestly, if you have content then translating into words can be done. I did not practise writing before but I read almost 100 answer copies before exam.
@sat_009Nhi bro. This time many people couldn’t get certificates on time. And also seeing in other exams, ews cutoffs are going too low. But on other hand, it is also true that ews are also general, so competitive people.
@Chanakyabut average score in gs that year was 400, that too with average in ethics being 80-85
So in gs 1,2,3 average comes out to be 105.
This guy must've not left much from gs 4 as almost everyone manages to just complete it due to nature of answers being not so specific.
So even if he'd have completed gs 1,2,3 then in left out 5 questions with 3 marks in each, he could've just got average marks which aren't sufficient for selection. So iam sure his 15 attempted questions were not so awesome.
@atulji109+72
@pra7009055Were u satisfied with presentation and structure
@Valar_morghulis
It’s good that still after negative interview result last year you again cleared prelims in limited time, which is extremely challenging task.
Stay positive, You will have a greater margin this time, a good interview score can change the game, anyways
@vvvikas0078212Haa. Tried to represent as much easy to be interpretable as I could. Maps, stats percentages, govt reports arc Niti ayog, intro concln, underline, answering each part of question with proper analysis. Everything. Let’s see now
@K_9aaram haram hai ..
@dancingminionfacing exactly the same issue, despite having iit and iim degree and two years of workex in Paytm. Got just 3 interview calls in last 2 months. Everyone gets disinterested as soon as they hear of gap.
Planning to use my contacts after mains result (as before result, even contacts will be reluctant to help because they would not want their referral to leave job in 5-6 months in case we clear everything).
Regarding explanation, I am honestly telling the upsc reason, as other bluffs will most probably be caught in interview etc
Anyone with better ideas can help here..
@nikhilrai0827880Taken help from your alumni network?

There is a rumour of results declaration, is it true?
@nikhilrai0827880Yo same here. IIT Delhi and IIM Calcutta. Got placed in a London IB as a trader, switched to PE and then UPSC. 4 years sabbatical. Got couple of VC interviews, gave almost GS answers
. Got almost an offer from a Bombay NGO for a large paycut in a finance role, almost because it's on hold till results come out. It's very difficult, I can empathise, but gotta tell the truth. There will be someone who can see that knowledge in public policy, PPP, Sustainable energy etc. may be useful. Quite a few startups. Goodluck and cheers!
@corrigible_87not yet due to the reason mentioned in my previous post. No one will want to deter their credibility in their organization if his/her referral may leave job after 5-6 months (in my opinion). So decided to use that once mains result is out. If rejected, will approach them. If selected, then will shift focus on interview for time being.
@vamsidharr2013625eventually I think only the contacts will get us a decent job in a non-startup organization. Without contacts, chances are that only a startup will hire, but then preparing for future upsc attempts will become difficult due to their hectic work environment.
@nikhilrai0827880Oh yes of course, alum network is the best source. But you isolate yourself during the prep, not easy to just say hey hello what's up. I've sounded out to a few close friends. I will, to others as well, after situation is completely clear. It's my last attempt (age), so I don't need to worry about that. Also startups are not bad at all, some excellent ones out there. The ones at series B/C funding, growth stage. You get equity and a higher role. The problem I found is that you really like what you studied for UPSC and you want to somehow make use of that knowledge... but to each his own, of course.
