@chintanmananthe truth i feel about upsc cse is that one can take a call on his/her (n)th attempt only after his/her (n-1)th attempt goes futile. His/her opinion about 'n'th attempt while giving (n-2) or (n-3)th attempt would just remain as a thought. CSE is that luring and kind of addiction!

Not to offend anyone. Just my opinion?

the problem with me is that i can concentrate on only one thing at a time. So i when i will say goodbye to upsc, it will be final.

is it true that the examiners are ideologically biased and reward/ penalise answers accordingly?

also, is it true that the government of the day selects mostly those examiners who are amenable to its ideology?

@MadamSir This is not true.

Every person is ideologically oriented and everyone believes what they think as rational and true. So yeah, there is the possibility that you might be right winger and if your paper goes to left winger examiner then you could be butchered. Same goes opposite. Its not just abput ideology but it reflects in every dimensions. Like even if you are hindi medium student from bihar and if your paper goes to person from banaras, he will ultimately think ki "कितनी अशुद्ध हिन्दी लिखी है" and will cut yyour marks.

No idea about examiners. I dont know whether govt choose the examiners or upsc does that work.

@MadamSir examiners stick to a specified answer framework. It is required from the students to be ideologically neutral?

agreed.

and yes, possibly the upsc does that work of selecting the examiners. but if the government asks the upsc not to have jnu profs as examiners, i think upsc would go with that, don't you think?

@abhishek_pexaminers are not selected by the government of the day. The UPSC Chairman makes a panel to recommend names and then examiners are personally contacted by the Chairman office. There is a certain criteria for selecting examiners, like they must not have been a part of paper setting process, they are not part of any book(authored or co authored) whose reference is there in question paper etc. The panel consists of all UPSC members. Having seen some interview transcripts, I can surely say that UPSC members do not align to any specific ideology and are neutral in their approach.?

Ideally upsc is a constitutional body and free from govt. They dont have amy post retirement opportunity from govt. So again they do not have to bog down to them.

But practice may be different. Upsc member and chairman is appointed by President (Govt) so its very kuch possible to manipulate them. I personally know some people who have deep deep hands in upsc. Personally i was aware about some members appointment even before they were selected. (i was there in one organisation who shortlisted their resume amongs 400 people)?
